Chapter 155

Chapter 112 Part 3

"You're Gu Fei, right?" Luo Jiaojiao said, looking back and pointing behind her. "My friend went to the same high school as you. She recognizes you."

"Oh," Gu Fei nodded slightly.

"Hey, aren't you..." Luo Jiaojiao wanted to say something more, but Gu Fei cut her off directly.

"I'm not." Gu Fei picked up his pace and walked away after saying that.

"Ah--" Luo Jiaojiao didn't follow him but called out while drawing out the sound behind him. The girls were probably sighing together.

"I told you..." one of the girls said softly, but Gu Fei didn't catch the rest.

The college looked quite big from the outside, but once he entered today for registration, Gu Fei realized it wasn't very large at all.

Compared to what Jiang Cheng and the others thought, the registration process didn't take up much time at all. There were few students, and there was only one class in his major with a little over twenty people.

He didn't know what the school's dormitory conditions were like since he didn't apply for one. When the class gathered to introduce themselves and get acquainted, he turned and left the school.

With registration done, there was nothing else to do. He also had no interest in touring the school - the sports fields, library, and so on. He had no interest in getting to know his new classmates either. This had always been his default state.

When Jiang Cheng was around, he would reluctantly join a group because of Jiang Cheng. Now without Jiang Cheng, he naturally slipped back into the habits he had maintained for so many years.

His phone dinged.

- Done with registration?

- Yeah, finished it up. I'm on my way back to the shop now.

Jiang Cheng immediately called: "Got it all done so quickly?"

"Yeah, I don't need to deal with the dorms since I'm not living on campus," Gu Fei said with a laugh.

"Didn't even walk around the school a bit? The sports fields, library, and stuff like that?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"No, we don't even have a library," Gu Fei said.

"Oh," Jiang Cheng paused briefly, "Well, you wouldn't have gone even if you did."

Gu Fei laughed, "My boyfriend knows me so well."

"What about your classmates? A teachers college, Chinese major, lots of girls right?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"There's just one class in our major, twenty-six people," Gu Fei said, smiling, "Twenty-one girls."

"Wow, what a ratio," Jiang Cheng made two clicking sounds with his tongue, then laughed, "That puts my mind at ease."

"At ease about what?" Gu Fei asked.

"Well, you have no interest in girls anyway, you'd probably run away if chased," Jiang Cheng said, very amused.

"What if the other four guys are hot ones?" Gu Fei said.

"No way any are more good looking than me," Jiang Cheng stated with absolute confidence, not a shred of hesitation.

"Can't argue with that," Gu Fei conceded.

He loved when Jiang Cheng was adorably confident like this, able to maintain it no matter what area it was in. Jiang Cheng always held his head high, regardless of whether his original source of confidence stemmed from being denied by his adoptive parents since young.

After chatting with Jiang Cheng for a bit, his dorm mates were going out again to raid all the good eateries around campus, so Gu Fei hung up.

As he walked out of the school gates, he immediately spotted Gu Miao sitting on her skateboard across the street watching intently in his direction.

Seeing him come out, Gu Miao immediately hopped up ready to dash over. Gu Fei held up a hand to stop her and she halted.

Gu Fei got his bike and rode over, stopping in front of her. "Didn't I tell you to wait for me at the shop?"

Gu Miao just stared at him silently.

"I said I'd be back at the shop at noon. I'd definitely come back if I said so," Gu Fei told her.

Gu Miao frowned slightly and slapped the back of his bike seat.

"Let's go," Gu Fei pushed off.

Gu Miao jumped on her skateboard and grabbed the back of his seat.

Gu Fei suddenly felt a little guilty toward Gu Miao. He glanced back at Gu Miao's face, serious and cold as she stared straight ahead.

Whenever he was away overnight, he'd tell Gu Miao when he was leaving and when he'd be back. The few times they went on trips, he also told Gu Miao - today, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow. But for sending Jiang Cheng off to university, he didn't tell Gu Miao because he didn't know how to get her to understand Jiang Cheng leaving, and he wasn't in the mood to explain to Gu Miao about today, tomorrow, and the day after either.

Now Gu Miao was sticking to him like glue, and it made his heart ache a little. To Gu Miao, he was the only safe harbor in her mind and heart. This was the first time he had ignored Gu Miao's feelings.

Don't go.

That was Gu Miao's demand of him.

And just now, he was suddenly gripped by panic, and his hands shook on the bike handlebars.

Last night, he had just promised Jiang Cheng he would go visit.

This wasn't just Jiang Cheng's wish, it was what he wanted too. He missed Jiang Cheng and wanted to see him, truly see him, touch him, hear his voice not coming through a phone receiver.

But now, looking at Gu Miao, how was he going to get her to accept her brother disappearing for two or three days in this situation?

If Gu Miao couldn't accept it...how would he tell Jiang Cheng?

Back at the shop, his mother was on the phone. He went and sat behind the cash register, watching Gu Miao who had gotten paper and pencil and seemed about to write or draw something, lost in thought.

Jiang Cheng sent several messages over.

Gu Fei opened them and first saw a selfie of him, still relying fully on his looks.

Then there was a dish, Gu Fei didn't get a clear look at what it was, because he immediately saw the message below.

- Super delicious, I could eat two portions. Let's come eat it together when you visit.

He frowned, closed the chat box, and tossed his phone onto the cash register with a long sigh as he leaned back in his chair.

"I'm going out for a bit," his mother said, hanging up the phone and coming over.

"Don't go out," Gu Fei said. "I want to take a nap this afternoon, you watch the shop."

"Just take a nap in the shop for a bit," his mother said. "Or call Li Yan over..."

"Are you paying Li Yan a salary?" Gu Fei said.

His mother gave him a blank look. "Then you..."

"I said don't go anywhere this afternoon!" Gu Fei yelled and kicked the cash register. "You watch the shop this afternoon! Got it or not?"
