Chapter 112 Part 2

Jiang Cheng looked at the time. From after dinner until now wasn't a short time. He didn't dare imagine how Er Miao had thrown this tantrum, or how Gu Fei had finally calmed her down.

- She's okay now?

- Yeah, it's fine now. She's asleep.

- You must be tired.

- Don't feel anything, used to it.

- Send me a photo so I can see. I miss you so much right now I can't stand it.

Gu Fei didn't reply, but directly sent a photo after a while. Jiang Cheng looked and immediately laughed, but after laughing for a bit he couldn't laugh anymore.

Gu Fei was shirtless leaning against the headboard, smiling very happily. It burst the dam on Jiang Cheng's pent up longing all evening in an instant.

After chatting a few more sentences, Jiang Cheng felt much more settled. He tapped on Gu Fei's photo to look at it a while longer. Although Gu Fei was smiling very happily, you could still see the dark eye circles and exhaustion in his eyes.

Gu Fei went to sleep. The dorm lights were turned off too.

Jiang Cheng fiddled with his phone a while longer, clicking here and there before finally going through the saved photos of Gu Fei one by one. Only then did he finish up.

Sleepy. Gu Fei hadn't slept well for days, and he was the same, not sleeping well for days. Plus getting used to the new environment and new people, getting familiar with the surroundings and people was tiring for someone like him who never paid attention to what was around him.

But Lu Shi and Zhang Qiqi were still chatting softly. Jiang Cheng felt those two would definitely become intimate confidantes.

"Go to sleep," Zhao Ke lay in bed and said calmly with a steady tone. "Or I'll roast you two in a bit."

"The anger of a single dog," Jiang Cheng said with a laugh.

"Extremely angry," Zhao Ke seemed to pull a lighter from somewhere and flicked it on, waving it around.

The two across laughed and ended their conversation. The room became quiet.

"Where are you?" Mom anxiously asked on the phone. "I can't get Er Miao to settle down! Come back quick!"

"Okay, home in 5 minutes," Gu Fei jumped out of bed. It was just past 6 am and he was still a little groggy, but hearing Gu Miao's angry screams from the earpiece, he was completely alert in an instant.

From leaving to getting home, it didn't take more than 10 minutes.

As soon as he entered, he could hear Er Miao's screams, no longer sharp but somewhat hoarse. She had been angry for a while.

"Your brother is back!" Mom grabbed Er Miao's shoulders and turned her to face the door. "Er Miao look, your brother is home!"

Er Miao stopped screaming and stood still without moving.

"Er Miao," Gu Fei didn't even have time to change his shoes before squatting down in front of her. When he touched Gu Miao's arm, he could feel her whole body stiffen. This wasn't anger. Gu Miao would tense up her whole body when she was nervous or anxious. He kept rubbing Gu Miao's arm while repeatedly calling out to her, "Er Miao, Er Miao, brother is here, Er Miao..."

After calling her name over ten times, Gu Miao gradually relaxed and opened up her arms to hug him.

Gu Fei picked her up and carried her into her bedroom, "You're so heavy. Shall we go weigh you in a bit? Brother can hardly carry you anymore."

After putting Gu Miao down on the bed, she still didn't let go, clinging onto Gu Fei's arm.

"Do you want breakfast?" Gu Fei asked. "I'll take you out for breakfast."

"Don't go," Gu Miao said very softly.

"Okay, we're not going," Gu Fei patted her back. "I'm still here, didn't go anywhere."

Gu Miao had limited ability to express herself. Other than one or two simple words, Gu Fei hadn't heard anything more complex from her in all these years, let alone other people. In everyone else's eyes, including their mother's, Gu Miao was a mute.

Their mother had gone out and bought back breakfast. After Gu Miao was done eating, she had returned to normal. But when Gu Fei went out to register at the college, she followed along with her skateboard.

Gu Fei knew she wanted to tag along, so he didn't stop her. The area near the college was Gu Miao's territory. She used to come here often when she went yarn picking.

"Let's go," Gu Fei kicked off and raced forward, whistling loudly.

Gu Miao immediately whistled back and chased after him on her skateboard. Gu Fei slowed down his bike and Gu Miao shot past him to the front.

Watching Gu Miao's short hair flying in the wind, Gu Fei sighed softly.

"Left!" he called out when they reached a turn.

Gu Miao quickly shifted her weight, turned smoothly to the left and swung onto the side road.

This was a familiar scene for Gu Fei - his sister speeding along in front of and behind him on her skateboard. This was the greatest joy he could give her in her small world.

He didn't used to feel anything in particular about this. Everything had just been this way since the day he realized Gu Miao had an extraordinary talent for skateboarding.

But today, following behind Gu Miao, he felt a certain indescribable emotion for the first time - a kind of bittersweet aching.

"I'm going in," Gu Fei stopped in front of the gates of the college and bent down to look at Gu Miao. "Wait for me at the shop at noon."

Gu Miao looked back at him and nodded.

"Skate on the sidewalk on your way back. Stay close to the side where there is no sidewalk. Remember?" Gu Fei said. Gu Miao wasn't as familiar with this area as their neighborhood back home.

Gu Miao nodded again.

"Alright, go on," Gu Fei straightened up.

Gu Miao pushed off on her skateboard and sailed away, whistling back at him.

Gu Fei smiled and whistled in return.

"Wow," some girls who had been standing by the school gates watching them let out soft exclamations, "such a cool little sister."

As Gu Fei walked in, a girl came up to him, "Excuse me."

Gu Fei turned to look at her. The girl was standing rather close, so he instinctively took a step back.

"Is that your sister?" the girl asked with a smile.

"Yes," Gu Fei replied curtly.

"So handsome," the girl said.

Gu Fei's mouth twitched. He turned and continued walking in. The girl followed along, "Let me introduce myself. I'm Luo Jiaojiao."

Gu Fei remained silent.
