Chapter 153

Chapter 112 Part 1

Jiang Cheng had not looked at books since finishing the gaokao. He only glanced at the application guidebook. He did not know what books to look at in the library either. Zhao Ke and a few others were there just to get a feel for the place and familiarize themselves with the environment.

Libraries are quite motivating places after all.

Jiang Cheng felt a little shocked when he entered the library. His completely relaxed state after the college entrance exam tightened up in an instant.

The library was huge and very beautiful. Using the descriptive words commonly used in elementary school compositions, it was bright and clean, with neat tables and chairs... There were also sofas. He went over and sat on one, quite comfortable.

The people reading in the library were all very quiet. He and his friends had put their phones on silent and walked around visiting without saying a word, just turning their heads around in circles looking.

The rows and rows of neatly arranged books of all kinds on the bookcases that seemed to have no end did not give Jiang Cheng an irritable feeling this time, but rather gave him a vague sense of pressure.

His relentless efforts day and night for more than half a year had earned him the admission notice he wanted, but this was just the first step, strictly speaking not even a full step.

"Let's go drink coffee and then eat," Zhao Ke borrowed some books to get familiar with the book borrowing process.

"What books?" Jiang Cheng asked in a low voice. Right now he really didn't know what books to borrow and had no clue at all.

"...," Zhao Ke showed him the covers.

"I thought you were borrowing professional books," Jiang Cheng said in surprise.

"There will be professional books to read until I'm sick of them later," Zhao Ke said. "I just want to read these now."

"Oh," Jiang Cheng responded.

Zhao Ke had a strong interest in drinking coffee. He had treated them to coffee in the morning, and now he was talking about drinking again. Everyone said they would pay their share, but Zhao Ke didn't agree, saying it was his suggestion so he would treat them.

After the coffee, Jiang Cheng basically had no desire to eat. He wasn't hungry and had no appetite.

But in the spirit of getting familiar with the cafeterias, he still followed along to tour the two cafeterias again. When he returned to the dorm after eating, he had a painful feeling like he could vomit at any time.

- I'm stuffed

He lay on the bed and sent Gu Fei a message.

But Gu Fei didn't reply. He was probably having dinner with Er Miao right now.

The other two roommates in the dorm were on the phone, and from the sound of it they were probably calling their girlfriends, speaking in a very affectionate tone.

The one sleeping in the bed across from Jiang Cheng was called Lu Shi. Jiang Cheng felt that this name gave the impression of a stout pillar standing in front of you, but Lu Shi was not a stout pillar. He was tall and thin like bamboo. If he was next to Gu Fei, Gu Fei could probably push him over with one hand.

"It's okay, come over and play on the 11th," Lu Shi spoke very gently. "We'll play here for a few days, then I'll go back with you... Then I'll come back myself. It's no big deal to make a couple trips back and forth. You made two trips too..."

Very sweet. Jiang Cheng smiled and glanced at Zhao Ke next to him. Zhao Ke was the only single dog in the dorm. He was still engrossed in playing Candy Crush.

The bed across from Zhao Ke's had Zhang Qiqi. The name was cute, and he was quite cute too, with a baby face that looked about middle school age. He had been on the phone very softly the whole time, but now suddenly raised his voice, speaking urgently: "Don't cry, don't cry. When you cry I want to cry too. Right now we don't have the condition to cry our eyes out..."

"You can hug a pillow," Zhao Ke said. "I have an extra one here if one isn't enough."

Jiang Cheng laughed when he heard this.

"Hey, Jiang Cheng," Zhao Ke didn't pass this level, so he put down his mouse. "Are you thinking of joining any clubs?"

"Clubs?" Jiang Cheng remembered he still had a bunch of promotional cards and stuff from various clubs. He hadn't had time to look at them yet. "I...don't know, don't want to join."

"Some are pretty interesting," Zhao Ke said. "I want to join one to exercise."

"I can just go for morning runs and stuff," Jiang Cheng said. "What club do you want to join?"

"I..." Zhao Ke glanced back at Lu Shi and Zhang Qiqi and lowered his voice. "I want to knit a sweater for my goddess."

"Huh?" Jiang Cheng didn't understand clearly.

"There's a knitting and crocheting club," Zhao Ke mimed knitting a sweater. "All kinds of knitting and crochet."

"Didn't you say you wanted to exercise?" Jiang Cheng was a little confused.

"Yeah," Zhao Ke said. "But my goddess is more important. I can join two clubs."

"So you want to go knit a sweater?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"Knitting and crochet, not just sweaters," Zhao Ke corrected him. "My goddess..."

"Go for it," Jiang Cheng nodded.

"Should be pretty interesting," Zhao Ke said.

"I feel like your goal is set a little high," Jiang Cheng said. "You can start with something simple."

"A scarf?" Zhao Ke thought about it. "Too ordinary."

"Is a hand towel not ordinary enough?" Jiang Cheng looked at him.

"Is there something in between?" Zhao Ke leaned back in his chair pondering. "Like..."

"Let me show you something," Jiang Cheng stood up. In that moment, he suddenly empathized with those show off kids he was always ridiculing.

The show off dad climbed onto the bed and took the crocheted sunny weather doll from next to his pillow.

He hadn't brought much this time coming over. He wanted to bring the maze Gu Fei made, but it was too heavy, so in the end he only brought the sunny weather doll.

"Sunny weather doll?" Zhao Ke took it, a little surprised. "Very pretty."

"This should be easier than a sweater, right?" Jiang Cheng said.

"This is crocheted," Zhao Ke looked at it for a while before handing the doll back to him. "You made it?"

"No," Jiang Cheng put the sunny weather doll back next to his pillow, stared at it for a while, then patted the doll's head before getting off the bed.

"You..." Zhao Ke glanced at the other two again. Those two were still immersed in their phone calls. "Your boyfriend made it?"

"Yeah," Jiang Cheng smiled.

"Very good," Zhao Ke nodded. "I'm not worried anymore."

"Huh?" Jiang Cheng was confused.

"Before I felt like it wouldn't be very feminine for a guy to join the knitting and crocheting club," Zhao Ke said. "Now I'm reassured."

"Oh," Jiang Cheng looked at him. "He's not feminine, but whether you'll become feminine by joining the knitting club, that's hard to say."

Zhao Ke looked at him without speaking.

"Probably not," Jiang Cheng said.

"I don't think so either," Zhao Ke said.

Gu Fei hadn't replied to any messages all evening, leaving Jiang Cheng feeling restless.

He knew Gu Fei was busy. Whenever Er Miao hadn't seen Gu Fei for a couple days, Gu Fei would have to spend a long time playing with her when he went back.

But today's feeling was different from usual. He was biting his lip to keep from constantly messaging Fei Ge.

Just sitting blankly on the bed listening to Lu Shi and Zhang Qiqi talk about their girlfriends, it was a topic he couldn't participate in. After all, he was dating a guy, and Zhao Ke didn't join in either, since he only had a goddess.

After chatting for over an hour, those two started showing each other photos of their girlfriends.

"Finally starting the photo battle," Zhao Ke said.

"What?" Zhang Qiqi asked.

"Nothing," Zhao Ke kept playing his game.

Jiang Cheng lay in bed laughing for a long time.

It wasn't until after 10 pm that his phone finally made a sound. Gu Fei had replied.

- Asleep yet?

- Nope

His speed in replying this time probably broke his personal typing speed record. His fingers were a blur.

- Er Miao made a fuss today, I just got free now

- What happened with her?

- After dinner she realized Brother Cheng wasn't here anymore and got unhappy. She tore up books and notebooks and threw a tantrum.
