"Come come, come eat," Yan Hang laughed turning around, "Not eating means you're not Chinese."
Chu Yi pounced over to hug him, lowering his head to bite his shoulder.
"Fuck off—" Yan Hang roared angrily from the bite.
Chu Yi pulled open his clothes again, kissing the bitten spot.
"Go stand aside and eat your ice cream," Yan Hang tutted.
Holding the ice cream, Chu Yi stood by the kitchen wall watching Yan Hang busying about.
It was a bit cold to eat ice cream today, freezing his hands. But he still ate with great delight.
Yan Hang bought chocolate ice cream, very aromatic.
"How are your grandparents?" Yan Hang asked while slicing the meat.
"Very good," Chu Yi said, "After all, their son has, has come back."
"Mm," Yan Hang sighed, "The elderly only care that you're fine. Nothing else matters."
"Yes," Chu Yi ate a spoon of ice cream, "My grandma, kept crying."
"Crying about what?" Yan Hang asked.
"Anything, would cry, once she remembers something," Chu Yi said. "Cried sending me to the station, all the way there."
Yan Hang smiled.
"That..." Chu Yi looked at Yan Hang, feeling he was in an alright mood today. So he carefully asked, "What my dad said, is that, is that useful?"
"Useful," Yan Hang nodded, "At least to know the circumstances then, can roughly guess how the sentencing might go."
"Mm," Chu Yi didn't dare ask further.
"Chu Yi," Yan Hang turned his head, still cutting the meat, "I..."
"Eyes on the knife! Watch the knife! You'll cut yourself!" Chu Yi got anxious all of a sudden.
"I'm showing off my skills," Yan Hang said, "Could you please cooperate?"
"Wow! Amazing!" Chu Yi quickly clapped his hands. "Alright, but seriously, watch out."
Yan Hang sighed, smiled, and turned back to continue cutting the meat. "Thank you."
"You're welcome," Chu Yi replied.
Dinner was quite rich, and Yan Hang's fridge always had a homey vibe—he could always pull out ingredients to make a big meal.
Today they made pizza. It wasn't exactly a grand meal, but the ingredients were plentiful, and it tasted fantastic.
It was Chu Yi's favorite shrimp pizza.
There was also a bowl of noodles, a large one, and it tasted just like the noodles from his birthday.
"Why noodles too?" Chu Yi asked.
"You seem to really like them," Yan Hang smiled.
"Yeah," Chu Yi nodded, picking up a bite of noodles, "but it's always too little, gone in two bites."
"So today I made you a big bowl," Yan Hang said, "Go ahead and eat your fill."
"How did you know I like them?" Chu Yi asked while eating.
"A silly kid like you," Yan Hang said, slowly eating a slice of pizza, "I can read you like a book."
"Ah, that's terrifying," Chu Yi put down his chopsticks and clutched his chest, "You've seen through me."
Yan Hang looked at him.
"Oh," Chu Yi thought for a second, then moved his hands lower, covering his pants, "Ah, you've seen through me."
"Get lost!" Yan Hang said.
After dinner, Chu Yi cleaned up the table, then squeezed onto the sofa with Yan Hang to watch TV.
The TV, as usual, didn’t have anything worth watching, but today felt different.
It was hard to explain—maybe it was especially comforting or particularly warm.
Uncle Yan’s situation still wasn’t resolved, and it remained a burden on his mind, but at least now they knew what had happened. Compared to blindly guessing, they now had some direction.
Although all he did was ask his dad a few questions and didn’t manage to accomplish anything major, he still felt a small sense of satisfaction.
He wanted to do something for Yan Hang, even if it was something small.
"Let's go to bed early tonight," Yan Hang glanced at the time, "I'm a bit tired."
"Really?" Chu Yi was a bit surprised, "Sleepy?"
"Mm," Yan Hang flicked his nose, "I slept pretty well last night too."
"Then sleep!" Chu Yi stood up, "Don't mind me."
After lying down on the bed, Yan Hang did directly close his eyes, but Chu Yi was a bit restless, staring at Yan Hang.
"What's up?" Yan Hang asked.
"Nothing." Chu Yi smiled.
"Feeling proud of yourself," Yan Hang turned to look at him, "For letting your boyfriend get some good sleep?"
"Ah." Chu Yi nodded slightly.
"That's right." Yan Hang leaned in and lightly licked his lips.
Chu Yi felt his vision swim a little, somewhat dizzy.
Then Yan Hang rolled over to hold him, his hand reaching down.
"What are you doing?" Chu Yi was startled, "Aren't you sleeping?!"
"Gonna jerk off the dog first before sleeping," Yan Hang said, "I'm in a good mood today, wanna jerk off the dog."
