Chapter 53

Chapter 35 Part 1

Qin Chuan didn't say anything.

Wei Feizhou saw the noncommittal look on his face, but knew he was secretly all ears, and couldn't help but chuckle to himself.

“Do you remember? Back then, we were trapped in a hopeless situation, waiting for that local to find a rescue team, not knowing if he'd ever return. My assistant was so scared his face turned white. A grown man, acting like the sky was falling just because of a broken leg. But we didn't abandon him. Even if we all ended up buried there, wouldn't we just be reborn as heroes in eighteen years? I really liked that young lady's attitude—composed under pressure, her expression unchanging even if Mount Tai were to collapse before her. Even you had sprained your ankle, and she could still help you up—”

An unhappy glare from Qin Chuan drifted over, and Wei Feizhou laughed and fell silent.

“CEO Wei, it's rare for you to visit. Let's get down to business.”

Qin Chuan opened the file.

“I sent you the digital copy a few days ago, and we've already confirmed the revisions to the details. If neither side has any further issues, we can have the secretary come in, sign the contract, and then set a date for a press conference to make the public announcement.”

Wei Feizhou, however, placed the file on his lap without opening it.

“I have no issues on my end. The contract can be signed at any time. I came today mainly to confirm one thing with you.”

Qin Chuan looked up.

Wei Feizhou asked, “This partnership—have you reported it to Qin Shiyu?”

Qin Chuan said, “I have the authority to make any and all decisions for my company.”

Wei Feizhou: “But based on my understanding of him, he would never work with me. If he finds out you made this decision on your own, what do you think he’ll do?”

Qin Chuan frowned. “Shengming Company’s affairs aren't kept from him, and this partnership is no secret. My father should have already gotten wind of it, but he hasn't raised any objections to date. What are you worried about?”

Wei Feizhou shook his head. “I’m not worried about the partnership. Qin Shiyu certainly wouldn’t turn away a mutually profitable deal like this. But from what I know of him, he must be displeased with you for acting first and reporting later. Who knows when he might lash out. If I’m not mistaken, you still haven’t heard from your father about the grudge between us, have you?”

Qin Chuan was silent for a moment. “I thought that keeping business and personal matters separate was a required principle for everyone in the business world.”

Wei Feizhou gave a faint, wry smile. “You, as his son, should know your old man’s style better than I do. When there’s money to be made, of course he keeps business and personal matters separate. But don't say I didn’t warn you—that man has an extremely strong need for control and will never let anything escape his grasp.”

Qin Chuan’s expression was placid. “Thank you for the reminder, CEO Wei. I know what I’m doing.”

If it weren't for the bond they'd forged through hardship in the mountains, Wei Feizhou probably wouldn't have bothered saying another word, let alone partner with Qin Chuan.

But since this was Qin Chuan's reaction, Wei Feizhou decided not to press the issue.

Qin Chuan is too young, after all, he thought.

The partnership proceeded as expected.

Wei Feizhou's partnership with Shengming Company was practically a done deal, a sure thing.

His presence all but confirmed that the deal was sealed.

Even Bo He knew that Wei Feizhou was a partner Shengming Company had long been trying to win over. An agreement between the two companies would be hugely beneficial for Shengming Company’s future development.

When Wei Feizhou left the meeting room, he was beaming. Even Qin Chuan had a smile on his lips, a clear sign that he was in a good mood.

Seeing this, everyone couldn't help but breathe a collective sigh of relief, especially Guan Shen. He had put in countless overtime hours and sleepless nights for this partnership proposal. If it had fallen through at the last minute, he really might have lost the will to live.

Before leaving, Wei Feizhou specifically requested to visit the President's Office to see his former comrade-in-hardship, Ms. Bo, but was flatly rejected by Qin Chuan.

“It's working hours. A visit from you, CEO Wei, would be a distraction to the other employees.”

Wei Feizhou chuckled. “Brother Qin, I already got Xiao Bo’s contact info back in the mountains. It would be easy enough to contact her privately later. I just want to say a quick hello and goodbye. Don't read too much into it.”

The corner of Qin Chuan's eye twitched. He honestly couldn't figure out what Wei Feizhou was up to.

Everyone knew that Old Wei was deeply devoted to his wife; their feelings for each other hadn't changed a bit over their many years of marriage.

Qin Chuan didn't believe he would have developed any feelings for Bo He after just two or three encounters.

Guan Shen, accompanying them, was unaware of Qin Chuan's thoughts. Seeing his noncommittal expression and taking it as tacit approval, he led Wei Feizhou toward the President's Office.

With every office they passed, Wei Feizhou offered some commentary.

“The decor here is so unique. I’ll have to send my people to come and learn from you someday.”

“Does Xiao Bo work in here? The feng shui must be magnificent. No wonder it produces talents like her.”

“Does your company have a cafeteria? Take me for a tour later. I want to see where Xiao Bo eats her lunch. Maybe we can renovate our own cafeteria to better retain talent.”

To hear him talk, anyone who didn't know better would think Bo He was the pillar of Shengming Company, responsible for generating immense revenue and averting huge losses every year.

Guan Shen's mouth twitched, and Qin Chuan's face was as black as a pot.

Only Comrade Wei Feizhou, hands clasped behind his back, remained completely unfazed, strolling along with measured steps like a senior official inspecting an enterprise.

For the sake of this hard-won partnership, I'll endure it, Qin Chuan thought.

Having interacted with Wei Feizhou more, he had come to understand that the man’s brain seemed to short-circuit from time to time, leading him to do some rather eccentric things.

But others didn't know that.

Guan Shen, for example, was already letting his imagination run wild, speculating on Bo He’s relationship with Wei Feizhou and even her mysterious family background.

Not to mention that once inside the President's Office, Wei Feizhou ignored everyone else, walked straight up to Bo He’s desk, and greeted her with brimming enthusiasm.

“Xiao Bo, long time no see! Do you remember me?”

Bo He quickly stood to welcome the two big bosses.

“Hello, CEO Wei! Of course, I remember you!”

Wei Feizhou shook her hand.

“We parted in such a hurry last time and didn't get to talk much. Luckily, we have the chance today. Have you considered what I mentioned at the banquet?”

Bo He was a little confused. “What matter are you referring to?”

Wei Feizhou laughed. “About switching jobs, of course! I've been keeping my assistant position open just for you!”

Bo He: ...

She couldn't help but glance at Qin Chuan.

The latter remained expressionless, his eyes fixed straight ahead.
