When he reached in, it felt like an envelope.
He took it out and looked. He was stunned.
A very fat red envelope.
Great fortune and wealth.
He opened the red envelope and took out a stack of money.
He didn't even need to guess, he knew immediately this was money his boyfriend Jiang Cheng had left for him. He had probably guessed he wouldn't accept it, so used the same method as him.
He smiled, holding the money as he counted the amount. The sum was the same too.
He took his phone and snapped a picture of the money and red envelope, sending it to Jiang Cheng. He mimicked a line Jiang Cheng had said before too.
- Thanks boyfriend
- You're welcome darling!
Jiang Cheng replied very quickly, sending another message right after the first.
- Don't you think this Great Fortune and Wealth is more sincere than Long Life and Prosperity!
- Very sincere indeed
Gu Fei laughed for a good while. Those past few days he had been a little distracted. That Long Life and Prosperity red envelope was one he had taken from the shop. He had always thought he took one that said Academic Excellence. Only when Jiang Cheng sent the photo over did he realize he had taken Long Life and Prosperity.
- Wait for me to give you even bigger red envelopes in the future
- Sounds good!
Jiang Cheng called Zhao Jin, and arranged to start tutoring the high school girl after the National Day holidays, but to first have a meeting these two days.
"I won't go with you," Zhao Ke said. "I don't want to see my sister. Help me bring this to her."
Zhao Jin was in her first year of graduate studies at B University. Jiang Cheng held a cake Zhao Ke had asked him to pass to her, standing at the gates of B University as he called Zhao Jin.
Not long after hanging up, he saw a girl walk out from the school gates. One look and you could tell she was Zhao Ke's sister. Tall, very fair.
It was only when he saw what she was wearing that he truly believed those conceptual style clothes Ding Zhuxin talked about really did have buyers, and looked quite good on Zhao Jin too.
"Jiang Cheng?" Zhao Jin walked over and asked.
"Yes," Jiang Cheng nodded, handing over the cake in his hands, "Zhao Ke asked me to bring this to you."
"What the heck," Zhao Jin accepted the cake and opened it to look inside, "He said you two were closest in the dorm?"
"Probably, yeah." Jiang Cheng said. Probably, at least he didn't have a girlfriend.
"This kind of taste," Zhao Jin showed him the cake in the box, "How can you be closest to him? It's just you two in the dorm right?"
Jiang Cheng looked at the ugly panda drawn on the cake: "This is probably...made by him. He said there's a DIY store near school recently."
"I have arranged to meet them at 3pm. It'll be perfect timing to drive over after this," Zhao Jin didn't even use a fork, directly taking out half the cake and breaking it in half. She gave him one half, "Eat up."
"You're too kind, I could have gone over myself." Jiang Cheng took a bite of the cake. The taste was not bad.
"It's no trouble. A senior from my department happens to be going that way too. He'll give us a ride part of the way," Zhao Jin said. "I can go shopping too on the way."
"Oh." Jiang Cheng made a sound of acknowledgement.
"Can't let the makeup I put on go to waste." Zhao Jin added.
"...Ah." Jiang Cheng nodded.
A car drove over and stopped next to them.
"Get in the car." Zhao Jin stuffed the cake in her mouth, sucked her fingers, then pulled open the passenger door to get in the car.
Jiang Cheng hesitated for a moment before taking out a tissue to wipe his hands first. He got in the backseat of the car.
"My brother's classmate, Jiang Cheng," Zhao Jin made introductions, "This is my senior, the most popular of the three big campus hunks in my department, Xu Xingzhi."
"Nice to meet you." Xu Xingzhi sighed and nodded at Jiang Cheng.
"Senior," Jiang Cheng said, "I'm sorry to trouble you."
"It's on my way," Xu Xingzhi said.
This was the first time Jiang Cheng had traveled more than a kilometer away from school since reporting in. Looking at the scenery outside the window, everything felt unfamiliar. He had a feeling that he would get lost in the blink of an eye.
He would have to check carefully how to get here from school on the way back.
The distance wasn't that far. With almost no traffic jams, it only took a little over 20 minutes.
"We're here, let's go," Zhao Jin opened the car door and said, "Thanks."
"Thank you," Jiang Cheng said as he opened the car door.
"You're welcome," Xu Xingzhi looked back.
Only then did Jiang Cheng get a clear look at his appearance. He wore glasses and looked...not as handsome as Gu Fei, Gu Fei also looked very handsome with glasses on, and he's nice to look at for a long time.
The family who had asked for a tutor looked quite wealthy judging by their home. Looking at their daughter, you could also see that she was quite spoiled, a big bratty child.
Her mother had called her twice without getting a response. Jiang Cheng chatted with her parents for at least 10 minutes before the girl finally came out of her room.
"Are you very good in your grades?" She lazily leaned back on the sofa without even greeting Jiang Cheng and asked him a question.
"Depends on who I'm comparing with," Jiang Cheng said.
"Then compare with me," she said.
Jiang Cheng felt it was hard to understand where this girl's unfounded confidence came from. He picked up a stack of test papers next to him and flicked through them with his fingers. "I've never gotten grades this low in my life."
The girl was stunned for a moment, then laughed very happily for a long time before saying, "Very low? This is the highest score I've ever gotten."
"Low," Jiang Cheng nodded.
"Whatever," she stood up and turned back to her room. Before closing the door, she looked back at her mother, "I don't have any objections, but twice a week is the max, not any more."
"She's been like this since she was little," her mother actually looked blissful, "she has so much personality."
"...Yeah," Jiang Cheng nodded.
"As long as she's willing, I've known Zhao Jin for two years now, I trust her recommendation," said the blissful mother, "And she said your grades are even better than her brother's."
"Oh," Jiang Cheng didn't know how to respond.
"Here," she took out an envelope, "this is the payment for one month, and it will be prepaid after that, thank you for your hard work."
"Thank you, auntie." Jiang Cheng accepted the envelope.
"We're here," Gu Fei pointed at the map spread out on the table and said to Gu Miao, "Here, I've told you about this place before, right?"
Gu Miao lay on the table looking at the map. Her facial expression showed that she didn't quite understand.
"We're here," Gu Fei took out a pen and circled a spot on the map, then drew a line along the railway, "Brother Cheng is here."
The words "Brother Cheng" briefly attracted Gu Miao's attention. Her gaze lingered on the map for a while.
"This map is too big, our Er Miao still doesn't understand it," Gu Fei took out a map of their city from the drawer and spread it open, pointing with his finger, "Here, is the steel factory."
Gu Miao stared at the map.
Gu Fei wanted to make sure she was looking at the map instead of his finger, so he moved his finger. Gu Miao's eyes followed along. He lifted his finger again, and Gu Miao quickly lifted her eyelids again too.
Although a little disappointed, seeing Gu Miao like this, he couldn't help laughing again: "Why are you like a cat?"
Gu Miao looked at him and smiled.
"Er Miao," Gu Fei leaned his chin on his hand and looked at her, "Brother Cheng will come back in a few days, are you happy?"
Gu Miao nodded.
"But Brother Cheng still has to go back to school. One, two, three, four, five," Gu Fei counted on his fingers, "Not counting the first and last days, that's five days, then he'll be gone."
Gu Miao's smile disappeared.
