Chapter 159

Chapter 114 Part 1

"Jiang Cheng," Zhao Ke patted the edge of the bed, "We're going to the library later."

"You and Qiqi can go first," Jiang Cheng sat cross-legged on the bed, looking down at his phone, "I'll come later."

"He's in a bad mood, don't know where he went to brood," Zhao Ke said.

"Hmm?" Jiang Cheng glanced at Zhao Ke, Zhang Qiqi's personality was as cheerful as his face, how could he be in a bad mood?

"He didn't reach his expected grade on the placement exam," Zhao Ke said, "Let's go, to the library. You can play on your phone when you get there, we'll have to wait for seats again later."

"He's upset over this?" Jiang Cheng hesitated for a moment before getting off the bed, "This exam isn't a big deal, I'm not depressed even though I took it carelessly."

"Your careless score is still higher than his," Zhao Ke said.

"......Oh," Jiang Cheng sighed, "Then I must have a strong suit, this just happens to be my strong suit."

"Some people call that maintaining a sense of urgency at all times," Zhao Ke walked out of the dorm, "Lock the door."

Jiang Cheng locked the door and walked to the library with Zhao Ke.

A sense of urgency.

He had that too, he didn't even need to look at other classmates, or upperclassmen. Just looking at the three people in this dorm, he would feel a sense of urgency.

He would also go out and relax, eat and rest, but he would always leave large blocks of time for studying.

He had never experienced this state before. As a cramming student, it was only when he arrived in this kind of environment that he started to have a sense of urgency.

Everyone around him was moving forward, he didn't dare stop either.

But there was another kind of urgency he was starting to feel as well.

That was... he touched his phone in his pocket. He had just checked his account, the money on his card wasn't very sufficient. He had to think about earning money.

He could actually wait until next semester, but Gu Fei was very clear about his financial situation. He had to start making deposits before Gu Fei gave him money.

Zhao Ke's phone rang, he answered the call, "Sis?"

"Little waste—" Zhao Ke's sister's voice came through the receiver, quite loud, Jiang Cheng could hear her drag out this...nickname?

"What do you want," Zhao Ke was probably used to this address, his response was very calm.

Jiang Cheng widened the distance between them a little, lowering his head as he took out his phone and started looking through it as he walked.

Gu Fei hadn't sent any messages. He was already very familiar with Jiang Cheng's daily routine. He would usually only contact him after 10pm. Any other time he was free he would send a message first.

He wasn't used to days like this yet, but the initial few days of feeling like he was being roasted over a fire and wanted to bounce back had alleviated slightly. Looking at Gu Fei's photos was still like a drug, he couldn't go a day without it.

"I don't want to go, I hate little girls... Of course you're not a little girl," Zhao Ke said, "You're at least a big girl. When you graduate from your Master's, you'll be an old girl. I think you shouldn't keep going for your PhD, you'll be..."

"I really won't go, I don't want to tutor, and I don't lack money... I don't need this kind of training... Why don't you introduce it to someone else..."

"Tutoring?" Jiang Cheng turned to look at him.

"Yeah," Zhao Ke also looked at him, "You?"

"Can I do it?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"Wait a moment, my classmate is interested, yeah, he's top three in our grade. Let me call you back later," Zhao Ke hung up and turned to Jiang Cheng, "You're really interested?"

"Yeah," Jiang Cheng nodded, "What kind of tutoring needs so much fanfare and introductions?"

"It's for a friend's daughter, a high school sophomore girl. She specifically wanted a student from a top university," Zhao Ke said. "The pay is pretty good. If you go look for this kind of job yourself, it won't pay this much. If you want to go, I'll let my sister know."

"If they have money, why not directly hire a teacher from a good university?" Jiang Cheng couldn't really understand the parents' thinking.

"The girl didn't want that. She wanted someone close to her age. Her parents spoil her a lot, they'll agree to anything she says," Zhao Ke said. "Besides, top university teachers may not necessarily agree to one-on-one tutoring."

"Oh," Jiang Cheng thought about it, "I'll go."

"Then I'll tell my sister." Zhao Ke said.

Jiang Cheng felt like he still hadn't fully processed it. Finding a way to earn money happened so easily, it felt a little magical.

It showed Zhao Ke was lucky. No, it showed he himself was lucky.

Lucky Cheng Cheng.

"As promised, here's my sister's number," Zhao Ke sent him his sister's contact, "Will you be free enough to tutor her?"

"I'll make time," Jiang Cheng looked at the contact card Zhao Ke sent, the name he'd given for his sister was...Old Granny. Jiang Cheng sighed, "What's your sister's name?"

"Zhao Jin," Zhao Ke said.

"Zhao Jing?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"Jin," Zhao Ke repeated.

"...Jin as in powerful Jin?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"Yeah," Zhao Ke nodded, "The name is ambitious, but she's not actually that powerful, only when she's mocking me."

Jiang Cheng smiled and saved Zhao Jin's number.

"Is the allowance from home not enough?" Zhao Ke asked him.

"No, it's not that," Jiang Cheng hesitated, "I'm alone."

"Oh," Zhao Ke glanced at him but didn't say anything else.

"Well, not alone," Jiang Cheng thought about it then said inaccurately, "I..."

"Got it, two people," Zhao Ke interrupted him, "Not to nitpick, but could you two keep it PG when mistreating this single dog? So shameless."

Jiang Cheng didn't speak again, just kept smiling.

"Tutoring?" Gu Fei was surprised, "Isn't your studying pretty packed? You just took that placement exam a couple days ago right? You still have the English proficiency test next semester right?"

"I'll take the English test without prep," Jiang Cheng's tone when he said this was still familiar arrogance, "Tutoring doesn't take up much time, just weekends twice a week."

"How much money do you have left?" Gu Fei asked.

He had a rough count of Jiang Cheng's money. Calculated out, there should still be some left. He had thought to take out some more money for Jiang Cheng from his savings during the National Day holidays.

He didn't expect Jiang Cheng to start working this quickly.

"There's still some," Jiang Cheng said with a smile, "I'll give you a big red envelope on New Year's."

"Just give yourself one, that's enough." Gu Fei said.

"Shameless." Jiang Cheng cackled loudly. Gu Fei could feel he was in a very good mood today. The holidays were probably just a few days away.

Thinking that the holidays were almost here, Gu Fei's mood lifted as well.

"Haven't you not gone to take pictures recently?" Jiang Cheng asked again, "Those pictures at the steel factory?"

"Didn't go. The ones I took before are about enough. I'll just process them for now, then let the client pick," Gu Fei said. "I'll take on modeling jobs again after the National Day holidays."

"Mm," Jiang Cheng thought for a moment then laughed again, "I'm booking tickets tomorrow already. Remember to come pick me up."

"Okay." Gu Fei smiled.

"On your motorbike." Jiang Cheng added.

"Okay." Gu Fei replied.

The National Day holidays were almost here. Saying the days were hard to get through, but when you really endured through them, it wasn't unbearable.

Gu Fei walked to Jiang Cheng's closet, opening the door to take a look inside. He would have to bring some thicker clothes when Jiang Cheng came back after the holidays.

The weather had already started cooling.

Gu Fei rummaged through the clothes in the closet, taking out one of his own jackets to look at. Jiang Cheng had taken two of his jackets, leaving just this one that he wore often.

This one needed washing, he would have to wear Jiang Cheng's.

Just as he was about to put the clothes back, the hem brushed over his legs. He felt like there was something in his pocket.
