After Our Divorce, I Still Wore Your Jacket

After Our Divorce, I Still Wore Your Jacket

Chapter 32 - Chapter 32

That day, Fang Shaoyi kept telling Yuan Ye not to be afraid. Actually, Yuan Ye wasn't afraid, but that image of the youth being dragged away was constantly replaying in his mind. He could always remember the lifeless face of the youth.

"Is he...dead?" Yuan Ye asked.

Fang Shaoyi shook his head and said, "No."

This wasn't just to comfort Yuan Ye. As an assistant director, he couldn't actually play with someone's life. At most, he lost control and went too far. Fang Shaoyi's face didn't look good either. After he finished getting the first aid kit, he came back to tend to the small wounds on Yuan Ye's hand. Yuan Ye's hand was placed in his palm, and his fingers were still cold.

After Fang Shaoyi finished tending to him, he pinched Yuan Ye's hand and softly said, "Don't think about it, go to sleep?"

"Mm." Yuan Ye nodded and said, "Okay."

After tidying up, Fang Shaoyi stood up and patted Yuan Ye's head. Due to the unexpected incident, Fang Shaoyi decided to send Yuan Ye away and let him return to school. He couldn't guarantee that they wouldn't run into those people they saw that day again, and if they did, it would surely make Yuan Ye scared or nervous. He had only let Yuan Ye come because he thought he knew the director well and didn't expect any problems, but accidents still happened.

When Yuan Ye heard that he had to leave, he nodded at first, but then shook his head and said, "I won't go. I'll stay with you."

Fang Shaoyi replied, "I don't need company."

Yuan Ye shook its head and didn't want to go. He knew that Fang Shaoyi's background made him safe no matter where he went, but he still felt uneasy and didn't want to leave him alone on the set, even though he couldn't do anything here.

This incident extinguished some of the fire in Yuan Ye's heart. He still liked and missed Fang Shaoyi just as much, but his emotions were now split in half due to the tension and fear in this industry. This kind of tension and fear gradually makes people resistant and if they hear too much about the dirty and shameless things that happen, this resistance can turn into disgust.

The disgust that emanates from the heart makes one feel that behind this extravagant and glamorous industry lies darkness and ugliness.

The young actor was never seen on     set again, and his scenes may be replaced. But the group of people who dragged him away that night were seen afterwards, acting as if nothing had happened, going about their business and laughing as usual. It was a disgusting incident, revealing the darkest side of human nature.

Before, Yuan Ye had been pestering Fang Shaoyi to teach him how to pursue someone, but there had been no progress. Now, he followed Fang Shaoyi around like a little lackey, watching him closely and staying alert. Fang Shaoyi didn't mind having him around, since his own scenes was not going to last much longer anyway.

During a moment of leisure, Fang Shaoyi asked Yuan Ye, "Aren't you pursuing anymore?"

Yuan Ye nodded and said, "Of course I am, I have to."

"Then why haven't I heard anything from you?" Fang Shaoyi asked him.

Yuan Ye licked his lips and whispered, "I won't pursue further here. I'll continue after I go back."

Fang Shaoyi's eyes were gentle as he nodded and said, "Okay."

This place was too dirty. Any emotions placed here would be contaminated. It wasn't just the fact that a group of people had turned a young man into that state, but also the fact that they could easily do it to anyone and continue on with their work on set. There might even be a next person, and a next person after that.

It wasn't that no one knew about it, but those who saw it were blind, and those who heard it were deaf, including himself.

Everything was so dirty.

This place no longer made Yuan Ye as happy as before. Although he still appeared the same afterwards, Fang Shaoyi could sense the difference. He couldn't completely relax here.

As Fang Shaoyi applied his makeup, Yuan Ye sat in a chair beside him. The process took over half an hour, and eventually Yuan Ye fell asleep, his head resting on the nearby makeup table. After finishing his own makeup, Fang Shaoyi draped his clothes over Yuan Ye's body and sat beside him, admiring his features.

Yuan Ye's face and neck were not particularly fair, as he spent his summers running around outside and had a healthy, wheat-colored complexion. His eyelids were thin, his eyelashes long, and there was a small scar near the corner of his eye. Fang Shaoyi found the scar endearing and even amusing, as it added character to Yuan Ye's face.

With a small brush in hand and a hint of a smile on his lips, Fang Shaoyi lightly dabbed some powder onto the little indentation left by the scar. His movements were too gentle, which tickled a bit. Yuan Ye's eyelashes trembled twice before he opened his eyes to see Fang Shaoyi's hand in front of him.

Without moving, Yuan Ye asked while lying down, "What are you doing, Brother Yi?"

Fang Shaoyi smiled at him and asked softly, "Do you want me to add some light to you?"

"Sure," Yuan Ye laughed while lying down, his laughter was simple and natural. He asked, "What kind of light?"

Fang Shaoyi thought for a moment and looked into his eyes, "Moonlight, how about that?"

He was too gentle, too gentle. Fang Shaoyi's tenderness made Yuan Ye's heart feel soft, like a ball of cotton that had been sun-dried all day. Yuan Ye reached out and touched the wooden handle of the small brush in Fang Shaoyi's hand, blinked and said, "That would be great."

The sun and the moon are different. The sun is dazzling and scorching, it gives you light, but you dare not look at it, and you know you can't touch it. The moon is different, it's also bright and beautiful, you can stare at it for a long time without hurting your eyes. It's always clear and cold, and its light is always soft and quiet.

So even though Fang Shaoyi is so warm and dazzling, Yuan Ye never thought of him as the sun. He should be the moon, elegant and noble.

When Fang Shaoyi said he would fill moonlight in his eyes, it was really great.

Later, Yuan Ye got used to touching his own eyes, touching the pit on his eyelids. It should have been ugly, but he didn't think it was ugly anymore.

Yuan Ye was a carefree and reckless young man. A minor incident on set had affected him for a few days, but it didn't keep him down for long. After Fang Shaoyi applied moonlight to his eyes, Yuan Ye felt alive again and decided to address the things he had put off before.

He began to think about the young man he had feelings for, and his teenage emotions started to stir up again.

However, he was determined not to pursue him on set. Although his mood had improved, he still harbored some resentment towards the crew.

When they returned, summer vacation was not yet over, and both of them went home separately. Yuan Ye's family knew about his acquaintance with Fang Shaoyi, and also knew that Yuan Ye had gone to the film crew during the summer vacation. Yuan Ye didn't talk much about the film crew when he went home, but he would mention Fang Shaoyi.

His family never cared about who he made friends with, as long as he was happy. Besides, even if they wanted to control him, they couldn't, and even if they did, he wouldn't listen.

At night, Yuan Ye would send love poems to Fang Shaoyi's phone, written in a very subtle and artistic way. He could write dozens of them with his eyes closed, and would occasionally send them to Fang Shaoyi. Fang Shaoyi didn't know how to respond to these things most of the time, and would usually just reply with a simple "Got it."

Yuan Ye would then ask, "Brother Yi, if I were pursuing someone and they responded to me as coldly as you do, what would that mean?"

After a while, Fang Shaoyi replied to him: "He's happy."

"If he's happy, he'll just say "Got it" like this?" asked Yuan Ye.

"Yes, it's like this when someone's happy," replied Fang Shaoyi.

Yuan Ye: "Oh..."

Occasionally, Fang Shaoyi would send a text message to Yuan Ye, telling him, "If you're pursuing someone, you should take the initiative to call him."

As soon as Yuan Ye saw the message, he immediately made the call and greeted Fang Shaoyi with a cheerful "Good evening, Brother Yi!"

Fang Shaoyi's voice sounded particularly pleasant over the phone, "Good evening to you too."

"I want to go back to school," Yuan Ye told Fang Shaoyi. "When are you going back, Brother Yi?"

"You just need to let me know when you're going back," replied Fang Shaoyi.

"If I go back, will you come back too?" Yuan Ye squatted in the yard, pulling out some weeds from between the bricks.

Fang Shaoyi replied with a simple "Mm."

The next day, Yuan Ye sent a text message to Fang Shaoyi saying, "Brother Yi, I've gone back."

Guan Zhou had also returned, and Yuan Ye sat cross-legged on his bed in the dormitory, eating ice cream. Guan Zhou asked him, "Brother Ye, was the crew interesting? Did you see any celebrities?"

Yuan Ye shook his head and said, "Not interesting."

Guan Zhou laughed and said, "Then why did you go?"

Yuan Ye thought to himself, 'I regret it too. I don't want to go anymore.' But Fang Shaoyi would have to go to countless other crews in the future, and if he went, Yuan Ye would probably still want to go.

Later that evening, Fang Shaoyi called Yuan Ye and said he would arrive in an hour and they could have dinner together. Yuan Ye hung up the phone and told Guan Zhou, "I won't eat with you tonight."

With a puzzled expression, Guan Zhou asked, "We agreed to have meat together tonight, but now you're backing out?"

Yuan Ye replied, "You can find someone else to eat with, I'll cover the meal expenses."

Guan Zhou was confused, "What's going on with you, Brother Ye? Who called you and made you ditch me so easily?"

Yuan Ye was frank, "Brother Yi."

"Your Brother Yi," Guan Zhou frowned and was speechless, "Your Brother Yi is even ahead of your girlfriend."

Yuan Ye chuckled, "That's great news." He received a text message and read it while saying, "I dream of him being my boyfriend."

The message was from Fang Shaoyi, short and to the point: "Chasing someone, roses. Five will do."

He almost scared Guan Zhou to death with those words, he leaned in to carefully examine Yuan Ye's face, then repeated his question, "What do you mean by 'you dream of him...'?"

"Take it literally," Yuan Ye pocketed his phone and walked out, leaving Guan Zhou with only a parting remark, "I'm chasing him."

Guan Zhou didn't even have time to ask Yuan Ye any further questions before he ran off. It wasn't the kind of thing you could shout down the hallway. Watching Yuan Ye's back as he ran away, Guan Zhou felt like his soul had gone stiff. He had never heard Yuan Ye talk about these things before, nor had he ever seen him pursue anyone.

They had grown up together, and Yuan Ye had never had any romantic inclinations, only knowing how to play around and act foolish. To suddenly hear him say he was going after someone, Guan Zhou never would have guessed it would be Fang Shaoyi.

He was a man, and a movie star at that.

Wow. Has he gone crazy?

Yuan Ye squatted at the school gate waiting for Fang Shaoyi, until he saw him pushing a suitcase over. Yuan Ye jumped up and ran over, greeting him with a smile. He had both hands free, and not a single flower in sight.

He asked Yuan Ye, "Why didn't you wait in the dorm? It's hot outside. And where's your key?"

Yuan Ye scratched his head and said, "I forgot it."

Fang Shaoyi looked at the thin layer of sweat on his forehead and asked, "Don't you usually jump through the window?"

Yuan Ye usually climbed through the small window above the door when he forgot his key, so Fang Shaoyi never locked it. Yuan Ye shook his head, smiled vaguely, and didn't say anything.

It was suffocating to stay in the dorm, and it made him...very shy.

Fang Shaoyi had to put down his things before they could go out to eat. He led Yuan Ye back to the dormitory and asked him to wait while he a shower first.

Yuan Ye absentmindedly nodded in response.

Fang Shaoyi pushed open the door, but his movement paused for a moment before he turned back to look at Yuan Ye. Yuan Ye turned his head to the side, not looking at him.

Inside the dormitory room, small bunches of bright red roses were scattered everywhere. There were a few on the chairs, a few on the table, a few on the cabinet, and a big pile on the bed.

Fang Shaoyi wanted to laugh, but he held back and asked Yuan Ye softly, "What's going on?"

Yuan Ye tugged at his ear and shook his head hard, "I don't know...maybe."
