After Our Divorce, I Still Wore Your Jacket

After Our Divorce, I Still Wore Your Jacket

Chapter 31 - Chapter 31

There was nothing wrong with what he said. No one was as young as Yuan Ye was.

When Fang Shaoyi asked him then, "Do you like me?" and hit seventeen-year-old Yuan Ye on the head, he was stunned silly.

Yuan Ye stuttered, "What like, like, like, what are you talking about?"

Seeing his panicked expression, he couldn't bear it. After laughing, Fang Shaoyi waved at him and said, "I'm just teasing you, come here."

Yuan Ye moved over and sat next to Fang Shaoyi, relieved, "You scared me, I thought you wanted to be my girlfriend."

Fang Shaoyi lightly tapped him with the script in his hand and said, "You're so silly."

Yuan Ye scratched his head and said, "I never really thought about it."

"Hmm," Fang Shaoyi stood behind him, looking at him with soft eyes and a gentle smile. "No rush."

Although Yuan Ye had never really considered it before, he wasn't completely clueless. Even though Fang Shaoyi had said it as a joke, the current situation between them didn't feel quite right to Yuan Ye. And his inexplicable admiration for Fang Shaoyi, wanting to play with him and talk to him, all had to have a reason.

He just hadn't thought about it carefully before. But Yuan Ye was never stupid, his mind was sharp.

After thinking for a while, he wandered around the set with his head down, not paying attention and bumped into someone. Yuan Ye leaned back and apologized, "Sorry about that."

The person in front of him was a middle-aged man in his forties, whom he often saw on set. Fang Shaoyi might have told him who he was, but he didn't really care. The man gently held onto his arm with both hands and smiled warmly, saying, "Be careful when you walk."

His palms were sweaty and it was uncomfortable to be so close, but Yuan Ye didn't think too much about it. He just took a step back, broke free from the man's grasp, nodded his head, and walked away with his head down.

He didn't know if he was overthinking or being too sensitive, but he felt that when he broke free just now, the man's fingers had flicked his arm. It might not have been intentional, but this unexpected touch made Yuan Ye feel uneasy. The sticky sensation on his arm made him uncomfortable.

Two people carrying reflectors passed by him, shouting, "Excuse us, please!"

Yuan Ye quickly jumped aside to make way for them, then looked around for Fang Shaoyi. Fang Shaoyi was talking to the director, so Yuan Ye walked over and stood behind him, keeping quiet and waiting for Fang Shaoyi to finish speaking. Fang Shaoyi glanced back at him, then turned back to the director and continued talking. He reached out and squeezed Yuan Ye's wrist as a greeting.

After finishing his conversation, Fang Shaoyi pulled Yuan Ye aside and Yuan Ye extended his arm, pointing to where the middle-aged man had touched and said, "Touch it."

Fang Shaoyi didn't know what was on his mind again. Sometimes he couldn't connect with Yuan Ye's thought process, so he followed his gesture and touched his arm. Yuan Ye pointed to the other side and said, "This part too."

"What's wrong?" Fang Shaoyi gently pinched his arm and asked, "Did you bump into something?"

"No," Yuan Ye laughed at this moment and said, "I just wanted to feel it."

Fang Shaoyi couldn't do anything about him, so he pinched the back of his neck and said, "You're always thinking about some messy things every day."

It was definitely different. No matter how Fang Shaoyi touched him, it felt comfortable and there was no resistance at all. The uneasiness in his heart had been covered up. He didn't know why, but he felt a little sweet inside. Maybe he was starting to understand the teenage emotions that were so subtle and delicate.

Yuan Ye smiled at Fang Shaoyi, revealing his white teeth. "Brother Yi, I want to pursue someone!"

This sentence made Fang Shaoyi's heart sink a little. He furrowed his brows and asked, "Who?"

Yuan Ye laughed carelessly and said, "The moon!"

"What moon?" Fang Shaoyi said in a low voice. "You're still young, don't mess around with those things."

"Haha, I'm turning 18 soon! I'm practically an adult, why can't I have a partner?" Yuan Ye looked at him and said, "I don't know how to pursue someone, can you teach me?"

But Fang Shaoyi didn't pay him any attention. He just threw him onto a small stool and turned to focus on filming. Yuan Ye stood there with one arm propped up, happily watching Fang Shaoyi work. He was wearing a white shirt and had short, clean-cut hair. He was incredibly handsome.

Once some thoughts fall into place, they can spread like wildfire. While others his age were preoccupied with thoughts of their crushes, Yuan Ye found himself fixated on a handsome young man who was as pure as he was good-looking. But this young man was on a whole other level - he was practically a celebrity!

They were worlds apart, with different backgrounds, social statuses, and lifestyles. Yuan Ye was like a monkey perched in a tree, while Fang Shaoyi was like a bright moon in the sky.

Yuan Ye didn't think he had much going for him - he wasn't particularly likable, had a stubborn streak, and tended to be single-minded. But why not give it a shot and see where it goes? Even if he couldn't catch him, at least he could say he tried.

Yuan Ye sent a text message to his friend Ning Lu: "How do you usually chase after girls?"

Ning Lu shamelessly replied, "I never have to chase, the girls always chase after me."

Yuan Ye didn't buy his bragging and asked, "So how do the girls chase after you?"

Ning Lu responded, "They come watch me play basketball, ask me out to eat, and even pass me love letters."

Yuan Ye wasn't satisfied with these typical methods, as they had been overused in movies and TV shows. He thought they lacked creativity and were only suitable for chasing after someone like Ning Lu. For someone like his Brother Yi, these methods were too basic.

Recently, Fang Shaoyi had been avoiding Yuan Ye because he was always asking for advice on how to pursue someone. Fang Shaoyi was unhappy about it but didn't want to be rude, so he just talked to him less.

This monkey spent his days on set so who knew where he caught a moon from, even though he kept him by his side he still couldn't keep a proper eye on him.

One night, while Fang Shaoyi was taking a shower, Yuan Ye knocked on the door and leaned against it, saying, "Brother Yi, I have something to give you."

The sound of water was loud and Fang Shaoyi couldn't hear him clearly, thinking that he was asking for advice again. He said, "Wait till I'm out to talk."

Yuan Ye just stood there waiting, and when Fang Shaoyi came out, he was already dressed. Yuan Ye pulled out something from behind and handed it to Fang Shaoyi, saying, "For you."

Fang Shaoyi was a little surprised as he looked down at the wooden... trophy? It must be a trophy. He raised an eyebrow and asked, "What is this?"

Yuan Ye chuckled and scratched his head. "It's a trophy, for the movie emperor. I made it for you, hoping my Brother Yi will become a famous actor soon. It's a bit ugly, but I didn't have any tools. With tools, it could look a little better."

Fang Shaoyi's heart swelled with warmth as he asked, "When did you make this?"

"Just these past few days," Yuan Ye winked. "Haven't you noticed I haven't been hanging around the set watching you film?"

Fang Shaoyi touched the monkey on top of the trophy and smiled softly. "I thought you were chasing after someone."

Yuan Ye nodded. "Yeah, I am chasing after someone."

The two of them locked eyes and fell silent. Fang Shaoyi's gaze was probing and questioning, while Yuan Ye's eyes were open and honest, as if to say, "Yes, I am chasing after you."

Initially, Fang Shaoyi hadn't thought in this direction, mainly because when Yuan Ye uttered the word "moon," he couldn't help but feel that it didn't apply to him. The ups and downs of emotions before falling in love were bittersweet, and he was immersed in it, feeling only the beauty of it all. Who could bear to burst that bubble too soon?

Fang Shaoyi's lips curled into a beautiful arc as he asked, "What kind of award is this?"

Yuan Ye licked his lips and said, "Golden...Monkey, it's the Golden Monkey Award."

"Okay," Fang Shaoyi nodded and joked, "Thank you to the judges and presenters for this award."

Yuan Ye laughed heartily for a while before saying, "No need to be polite, keep up the good work and continue to strive!"

In fact, Yuan Ye was very skilled at making these things. After all, he grew up in the mountains since he was a child and didn't have any fancy gadgets, so he played with these primitive things. His grandfather was very good at carving things, and Yuan Ye learned from him with great interest. He could make things look very beautiful if he had a model to follow, but he couldn't do it without any guidance and tools.

There were no handy tools for Yuan Ye to use on the set, and he hadn't done it in many years, so his hands were not used to it. He had been grinding the two knives in his hands for these days, and the blisters on his hands were caused by the grinding, which he simply tore off.

He also accidentally cut himself a few times, but he didn't even bother to use a band-aid or pay attention to these minor injuries.

But these injuries that he didn't care about caused someone's heart to feel sore, and it was like a sharp pain in their eyes.

After taking a shower, Yuan Ye was washing his underwear in the bathroom when Fang Shaoyi walked by and heard him hiss in pain. Fang Shaoyi asked, "What's wrong?"

Yuan Ye shook his head and said, "It's nothing, the water is just cold."

"There's hot water," Fang Shaoyi walked over and turned on the faucet to adjust the temperature for him.

Yuan Ye pushed him away with his shoulder and said, "No need, I can do it myself. You don't have to stand here while I wash my underwear, don't you think I'll be shy?"

Fang Shaoyi couldn't help but laugh and said, "I've never seen you shy before."

As he spoke, he looked down at Yuan Ye's hand and furrowed his brows. Fang Shaoyi turned off the faucet and grabbed Yuan Ye's hand to examine his fingers, his brows furrowing even more as he looked closer.

On Yuan Ye's hands were actually many old injuries, all from playing too much in the mountains when he was young. There were a few round scars on his thumb from being bitten by rabbits. Originally, the blisters that had formed from the injuries would tear off and heal after two days, but he would still feel a sting if he touched water.

Yuan Ye felt a bit embarrassed when he saw Fang Shaoyi staring at his hands and asked, "Brother Yi, what are you doing?"

Fang Shaoyi took a towel and gently wiped Yuan Ye's hands, then pulled him out and furrowed his brows, saying in a deep voice, "Don't touch water these next few days. Your hands are already like this, why are you still washing things? If you get an infection from touching soap water, won't it hurt?"

"Haha, it's not that serious. You're being too cautious over a few small blisters," Yuan Ye pulled back his hand and said to him, "Look at me, I take a bath, wash my face, and wash my underwear every day, and I haven't gotten any infection. It's nothing. I've been like this since I was a kid, not as precious as you little stars."

"Shut up," Fang Shaoyi said to him, "Don't do it again in the future."

"That won't do," Yuan Ye shook his head, "I still have to pursue someone."

Fang Shaoyi said, "Then change your method of pursuing."

Yuan Ye leaned over to look at him and said with a raised eyebrow, "Then you teach me."

Fang Shaoyi looked at the small scar on his eyelid and nodded, "Okay, I'll teach you."

The only thing in the room was band-aids, but using them on small wounds could actually make them worse. Fang Shaoyi held onto Yuan Ye's hand tightly and refused to let go. He needed to go out and find his assistant for a first aid kit, and Yuan Ye followed him.

Although he didn't think it was necessary, being pulled along by Fang Shaoyi like this was actually quite nice, hehe.

The assistant's room was on the floor below them, so Fang Shaoyi led Yuan Ye down the stairs and through a long hallway.

A few people came out of a room, and Yuan Ye recognized the last person to come out as someone he had seen on set before. But as they got closer, Yuan Ye's eyes widened in surprise.

A group of people were dragging someone out, with two people pulling his arms and someone else pulling his legs. The person being dragged had his back and butt on the ground the entire time. His pants weren't even properly on, and as he was being dragged, his butt was exposed.

Suddenly, Fang Shaoyi let go of his hand and quickly turned around, covering Yuan Ye's eyes with his hand. He whispered to him, "Don't look...close your eyes."

Yuan Ye's face had turned pale, and his eyelashes trembled in Fang Shaoyi's hand.

Unfortunately, Fang Shaoyi was too late in blocking Yuan Ye's view, and he had already seen everything.

The person being dragged was a special guest actor in the play, slightly better than an extra or a bit player, with several scenes. The reason why Yuan Ye remembered him was because this guy's nose looked a lot like Fang Shaoyi's, so Yuan Ye had looked at him several times and thought he was quite good-looking.

Who knows, he might become popular in the future. But now, his face was deathly pale, with no signs of life, being dragged in such a miserable posture with his eyes closed and no movement at all.

His pants and buttocks were covered in blood.

Although Yuan Ye was rugged and wild, the environment in which he grew up was ultimately pure and clean. The mountains and rivers gave him a sense of belonging, and after leaving the mountains, he received a strict yet tolerant education from literary professors. He never had the opportunity to experience anything else.

He was so naive that he didn't even know if he liked someone or how to pursue them. Suddenly, this terrifying scene was presented before him, and the psychological impact was strong.

The group of people walked further and further away, dragging the guest actor towards the elevator. Fang Shaoyi still had his hand over Yuan Ye's eyes, and Yuan Ye reached up to grab Fang Shaoyi's hand, his fingertips cold.

As Fang Shaoyi released his eyes, he stretched out his arms and embraced Yuan Ye, using his shoulder to shield his view. Yuan Ye's forehead knocked against Fang Shaoyi's shoulder, and Fang Shaoyi's breath surrounded him. Yuan Ye tried his best to capture his breath and sniffed the faint fragrance that could calm him down.

Fang Shaoyi held him in his arms and reached back to touch his head, gently rubbing his hard scalp while whispering in his ear, "Don't be afraid."

Yuan Ye didn't lift his head, Fang Shaoyi's touch made him feel comfortable, and he wanted to fall asleep directly. He clung to Fang Shaoyi and breathed lightly.

Fang Shaoyi's palm was warm and dry as he gently pressed it against Yuan Ye's scalp. Yuan Ye spoke softly, asking, "What happened to him, Brother Yi..."

This was a question that Fang Shaoyi couldn't answer. Just moments ago, he had only been thinking about Yuan Ye's hand, and he hadn't even looked in the direction of those people. By the time he saw them, it was already too late. Otherwise, he would have covered Yuan Ye's eyes immediately.

Whenever Fang Shaoyi talked about the things that happened on set, he never let Yuan Ye listen. He was too young and innocent, and Fang Shaoyi never wanted these things to taint his ears. But today, Yuan Ye had witnessed the worst scene firsthand.

Fang Shaoyi's face was so dark that it was frightening. He repeated in a low and gentle voice to Yuan Ye's ear several times, "It's okay, don't be afraid."

As Yuan Ye rubbed his forehead against Fang Shaoyi's body, his lips pressed against him and his voice sounded muffled. His mouth moved gently as he spoke, sending shivers down Fang Shaoyi's spine. Yuan Ye spoke in a hoarse voice, "Brother Yi, this circle...it's too scary."

Fang Shaoyi closed his eyes tightly, unable to say anything except to comfort Yuan Ye by rubbing his head.

The author has something to say:

Monkey Yuan, at seventeen years old, was tender, mischievous, and obedient.
