Chapter 10 - Pilgrimage Part 2

The person on the bed had already gotten down. He'd clearly been given shoes earlier, but he wasn't wearing them now, just standing barefoot by the window with his clothes draped over him.

He had pushed the window halfway open, and a cold wind blew in.

He squinted his eyes and listened for a moment, then casually tugged the bell's thread and turned his head to say, "Xiao Fuxuan, what's going on outside? The commotion is frighteningly loud."

Xiao Fuxuan: "..."

High Immortal Tianxiu looked at him for a moment with a complicated expression, moved his lips, and said, "I don't know. A pilgrimage, perhaps."

Wu Xingxue: "..."

Wu Xingxue was silent for a moment, then said, "If I were to ask whose pilgrimage this is, would I seem a bit foolish?"

The Evil Demons from underground scurried swiftly, and the Hua Family disciples were as fast as the river wind.

In an instant, the sounds outside the courtyard were tumultuous.

Wu Xingxue held onto the window frame, looking at him expectantly.

Xiao Fuxuan pinched the bridge of his nose.

***

Wu Xingxue only felt a sharp tug on the thread around his wrist.

The next instant, he immediately clutched his wrist.

"Close your eyes," Xiao Fuxuan's voice sounded.

He felt a deep winter wind mixed with the river's tide sweep over him, and when he opened his eyes again, he was standing in another place.

"Where is this?" Wu Xingxue glanced around.

"The Disciple Hall of Peach Blossom Isle." Xiao Fuxuan, holding his hand, also scanned the area.

All the disciples had gone chasing after the Evil Demons, leaving the entire Disciple Hall deserted.

Wu Xingxue glanced at Xiao Fuxuan and suddenly asked him, "Were you in a meditative trance before, like they write about in storybooks?"

Xiao Fuxuan: "...No."

"Oh." Wu Xingxue nodded. "Not a trance, so it seems you went out to find something."

Xiao Fuxuan suddenly turned his head back to look at him.

After a moment, he grunted, "Mm."

Wu Xingxue: "What were you looking for?"

Xiao Fuxuan was silent for a moment, then said, "Something that was taken a long time ago, and then sent back."

***

Back when Wu Xingxue killed Yi Wusheng's father, brother, wife, and daughter, he had been in the Immortal Capital. By the time he rushed to Peach Blossom Isle in Chunfan City, he only heard bits and pieces of the aftermath.

Rumor had it that Wu Xingxue's request for Yi Wusheng's help that year was just an excuse.

He was a lawless Demon Lord who commanded the entire Zhaoye City and had countless evil demons and monsters under him. What help could he possibly need from Yi Wusheng?

He had disguised his appearance and pretended to be an ordinary guest staying on Peach Blossom Isle, all just to find something.

It was rumored that the Hua Family possessed an immortal treasure. After Wu Xingxue left Peach Blossom Isle that year, that immortal treasure vanished without a trace.

No one knew what that immortal treasure was, nor why Wu Xingxue took it. They only heard that not long after, the immortal treasure returned to Peach Blossom Isle.

And on the second day after that rumor spread, Wu Xingxue had launched an attack on the Immortal Capital.

The Xiao Fuxuan of back then had no time to figure out the connection before he perished along with the Immortal Capital.

Now, returning to Peach Blossom Isle, he wanted to find that thing.

And the person who had taken that thing back then was right in front of him, oblivious to the past, merely nodding at his words and saying, "No wonder. I saw you were looking around the whole time."

As they spoke, another earth-shattering noise erupted outside the Disciple Hall.

It must be the Evil Demons from underground; having found the western guest room empty, they had now turned and rushed to the eastern Disciple Hall.

Wu Xingxue poked his head out for a look and asked Xiao Fuxuan, "Which places have you already searched? Which ones are left? Why don't we search the remaining places too?"

Xiao Fuxuan: "..."

Xiao Fuxuan: "There's still the Punishment Hall, Qingxin Hall, Scripture Hall, and Qiwu Courtyard."

...

And so, that night, at the Great Demon Lord Wu Xingxue's suggestion, High Immortal Tianxiu Xiao Fuxuan went in circles, leading all the Evil Demons accumulated over a hundred years from under the Peach Blossom Forest, as well as nearly a thousand disciples of the Hua Family, and... plowed through the entire Peach Blossom Isle.

Finally, they landed in Qiwu Courtyard, where Yi Wusheng was in seclusion.

But Qiwu Courtyard, which should have been filled with the scent of medicine, was completely empty, and the person who was supposed to be in seclusion there was nowhere to be found.

"Where is he?" Wu Xingxue scanned the area but saw no one.

Xiao Fuxuan suddenly recalled what he had overheard on the path earlier.

That Hua Family disciple had said: Yi Wusheng wouldn't come out of seclusion until noon tomorrow, and he couldn't be disturbed in the slightest before then, or all his efforts would be for naught.

"What kind of seclusion is so serious?" Wu Xingxue heard this and grumbled, "Since it's like that, what could possibly make him interrupt it and suddenly come out?"

He was about to search again when he suddenly heard Xiao Fuxuan say in a low voice, "...I see him."

Wu Xingxue followed the voice and turned his head, discovering Xiao Fuxuan standing by the second-floor window, looking down.

He followed Xiao Fuxuan's line of sight and saw, below Qiwu Courtyard, countless earth dragons churning as they rushed over. Amidst the splashing mud and dense fog, there was a person stumbling along with the Evil Demons.

Wu Xingxue was stunned for a moment. "Is that Yi Wusheng? He's coming to—"

Xiao Fuxuan said in a low voice, "To make a pilgrimage."

It is said that at night, when the foul qi is at its thickest, if a powerful being invades, the Evil Demons on Peach Blossom Isle will uncontrollably move towards the powerful being.

That is the irrepressible nature of Evil Demons.
