Chapter 11 - Second-Generation Heir x Illegitimate Son 11

"He's not a guest, he's a house pet."

Lin Sui brushed off Song Yunqing's hand. Without even lifting his eyelids, he continued flipping through the brochure in his hand.

This was a recently released update on luxury cars. As a standard playboy, the original owner had a certain fondness for cigarettes, fine wines, and luxury cars, especially cars. The row of vehicles parked in his garage was the best proof. Song Yunqing was exceptionally good at catering to his tastes; no wonder he was able to make the original owner, who was such a difficult person to talk to, treat him so specially.

Song Yunqing thought his indifferent attitude was just him throwing a temper tantrum, completely unaware that the truly malicious original owner was already dead.

"Since when did you start keeping such a plaything? You never had this kind of hobby before."

Song Yunqing frowned slightly, looking at Yan Qin with a puzzled expression.

Song Yunqing didn't recognize that the youth before him was the illegitimate son of the Yan family. He never participated in the playboy antics of Yan Zhou and the young master, merely turning a blind eye to them. In the past, when Yan Qin was bullied by Yan Zhou, he was always covered in dirt and his face was bruised and swollen. Song Yunqing had never taken a second look at him, so naturally, he didn't remember him.

He merely thought this was a plaything Lin Sui kept by his side. He was somewhat surprised by things exceeding his expectations; he had never known that Lin Sui liked men. When racing, drinking, and having fun, he always embraced women.

It was just that because his family wouldn't let him mess around before coming of age to avoid harming his body, coupled with the young master's own pickiness, he had never crossed the line. But now... Song Yunqing looked at Yan Qin, adding a few degrees of scrutiny in his heart.

Could this be the reason for Lin Sui's change, even leading Lin Sui to plan on taking the university entrance exam himself?

"Have you been abroad so long that you find everything fresh upon returning? You even have to ask about this?"

Lin Sui practically had the words 'mind your own business' written on his face as he closed the brochure in his hand.

"Alright, I won't ask. As long as you like it, my little ancestor. Do you see any models you like? I'll buy one for you."

Song Yunqing spoke as if begging for mercy. As he leaned over, his moonlight-like silver long hair scattered over Lin Sui.

Behind his glasses, he looked at Lin Sui's arrogant appearance with gentle and clear eyes.

Yan Qin withdrew his gaze, hiding an inexplicable feeling of stifled frustration. It was probably the weather acting up.

"There's nothing I like."

Lacking interest, Lin Sui saw the servants setting the table and walked towards the dining table.

"Aunt Chen is very thoughtful to remember the dishes I like to eat."

Seeing the dishes on the table, Song Yunqing smiled at Aunt Chen who was standing to the side.

Aunt Chen didn't say anything, just smiled, bowed slightly, and entered the kitchen.

"Why are you standing? Sit down and eat together."

Song Yunqing gestured to Yan Qin and sat down beside Lin Sui.

Yan Qin had originally planned to eat in the kitchen after they finished. Since Song Yunqing said this, he had to stop in his tracks, casting an inquiring look at Lin Sui.

Lin Sui gave a noncommittal nod. Taking a towel to clean his hands, he looked at the food on the table.

Yan Qin sat across from Lin Sui and silently began to eat.

"I'll serve you a bowl of soup to warm your stomach first. Did you eat well while I was abroad?"

"Why are you acting like a mother hen?"

Lin Sui looked at Song Yunqing a bit strangely, not knowing what game he was playing.

In the past, Song Yunqing would humor the original owner quite a bit, but he had never been this exceedingly attentive.

But it didn't matter. Since he was willing to put on an act, Lin Sui would accept it with a clear conscience.

Intimate words between the young man and the youth drifted over from the other end of the table. Yan Qin kept his head down, his brows unconsciously furrowing deeper.

Song Yunqing didn't stay long after eating because Lin Sui kicked him out.

"I'm going to read. Don't disturb my studies."

Lin Sui's reason was so justified that Song Yunqing couldn't refute it, so he had to leave. But before leaving, he glanced at Yan Qin.

Yan Qin calmly met his gaze and closed the front door after he left.

Inexplicably, the air seemed to have freshened up quite a bit.

Lin Sui took a walk in the garden to digest his food, then went to read, just as he had told Song Yunqing.

Yan Qin watched him holding the problem-type analysis book. Seeing the young master reading it like ordinary text without needing any scratch paper for calculations, his lips moved, but not knowing what to say, he chose to remain silent.

After waiting on Lin Sui following his bath as usual, Yan Qin crouched on the floor to dry Lin Sui's feet. A book was tossed in front of him.

"Read this to me in a bit, as a bedtime story."

Lin Sui's whole body was softened by the hot water. Even his voice carried a bit of languidness, mixed with a soft nasal tone. If one didn't look at his eyes, it sounded almost like he was acting coquettishly.

Yan Qin gave a sound of agreement. When he saw the contents of the book, he immediately looked at the table of contents. His eyes trembled, and a flash of strangeness crossed his expression.

It was a book on business. Unlike the typical success-peddling books circulating in the mass market, every chapter was a business case spanning various industries, involving investments, financing, Valuation Adjustment Mechanisms (VAM), and so on. There were both successful and failed cases; it was full of real, practical knowledge.

It could be said that this was absolutely an excellent book for business enlightenment and advancement. The author analyzing the cases had a concise and seasoned tone. After their summaries, some parts felt like parting the clouds to see the sun. If it weren't for the inappropriate setting, Yan Qin would have already started reading it hungrily.

This book had no title, nor even an author's signature. From the outside, it was just an unremarkable black-covered book.

Yan Qin couldn't help but look at the young master lying under the covers. His expression was lazy and tired, his fair face tinted light pink from the steam. He seemed completely unaware of what kind of crucial knowledge was contained in the book he casually tossed over, even treating it as bedtime reading.

For a moment, he wondered with shock if Lin Sui knew something and was using this to test him. But then he felt there was no need; given Lin Sui's status and position, why would he do something so unnecessary? He probably just found this kind of business knowledge dull and dry, so he used it as a sleep aid.

Yan Qin's voice carried the slight hoarseness of someone who didn't speak often, deep and restrained. Under the soft light of the bedside lamp, Lin Sui closed his eyes, truly feeling a bit drowsy.

He hoped Yan Qin wouldn't let down his good intentions. In truth, some of the cases were impossible for Yan Qin to find in this world, as they were things Lin Sui had experienced or even done himself. He hoped he wouldn't fail his teachings.

The corners of Lin Sui's lips curled up. He really looked forward to seeing what Yan Qin would look like when he found out everything much later.

Watching Lin Sui sleeping soundly, Yan Qin gradually lowered his voice.

His eyes stared fixedly at the pages in his hand, touching the soul of an unknown predecessor through the text.

From a person's way of speaking and style of commentary, one could discern their personality. Combined with the cases of their modus operandi, this predecessor was a ruthless person, sometimes using rather extreme and radical methods to secure a big win with a small stake.

—A shrewd, decisive, and ambitious gambler.

This book needed to be savored carefully, repeatedly pondering and deducing the moves on the chessboard. Yan Qin analyzed a case from three perspectives: a bystander, the black pieces, and the white pieces. It was extremely time-consuming. In this immersion, the sky unknowingly began to brighten.

He had to leave for school in an hour. Yan Qin memorized the page number, closed the book, set it aside, and planned to close his eyes and rest for a while.

His gaze glanced toward the large bed and paused.

Lin Sui wasn't a very well-behaved sleeper. The thin, pale light of dawn cast a soft glow on his skin that sprawled across the quilt, the lines from his shoulder blades to his legs flowing smoothly.

Yan Qin's hands didn't quite know where to rest, hesitating between leaving him be and pulling the quilt up for Lin Sui properly.

The corner of the quilt was gently pulled over. Worried about waking up this bad-tempered young master, Yan Qin covered him bit by bit.

It was at this moment that he noticed a small cyan birthmark on Lin Sui's thigh, shaped like a butterfly.

Lin Sui rolled over in his sleep, and that butterfly brushed past his palm. In that extremely brief instant, it was as if it had brushed past his very soul.

Yan Qin retracted his hand as if he had been burned, looking at Lin Sui's face in a slight panic.

The young master still had his eyes closed. His beautiful face was soft and harmless, like a highly deceptive poisonous butterfly at rest.

He was lying flat now and no longer pressing down on the quilt. Yan Qin successfully tucked him in and returned to his own bed.

Even though his body was clearly exhausted and drowsy, he inexplicably couldn't fall asleep anymore.

The smooth sensation lingered on his palm, as if the cyan butterfly was trapped within his grasp.

The sun rose high but was obscured by thick clouds.

When Lin Sui opened his eyes, it was already ten o'clock, but the sky outside was gloomy, looking like dusk.

"The meteorological observatory has issued a yellow warning for heavy rain. It is expected that within the next twenty-four hours, most areas will experience more than fifty millimeters of rainfall over six hours..."

An electronic female voice sounded in the room. Lin Sui pressed a button, returning the room to silence.

Lin Sui flipped through that book. Seeing the traces left on it, the corners of his mouth turned up slightly.

Yan Qin was a very diligent and studious person. In the past, when he went to the Library Pavilion to borrow texts, he could stay in his Cave Dwelling reading Jade Slips for days.

Thinking of the past, the corners of Lin Sui's mouth pressed down again.

After washing up and eating, he returned to his room and turned on his computer.

The System looked at the data and asked: [What are you doing this for?]

Lin Sui: [System, if you're truly stupid, don't come out and announce it to the world. Be quiet.]

Lin Sui actually didn't really want to use Will of Heavenly Dao to address the System, because it was only the Heavenly Dao in a narrow sense. It existed in the book he transmigrated into and was the guardian spirit of the plot, so it actually wasn't very smart.

Lin Sui was currently too lazy to bicker with it. He had things to do and didn't want to be distracted.

The System froze at Lin Sui's words. Thinking about how Lin Sui seemed to be properly completing his tasks right now, it fell silent.

Gusts of cool wind blew, stirring up fallen leaves on the road.

In the small villa, Yan Zhou's eyes widened upon hearing Song Yunqing's words.

"Are you saying Ah Sui is keeping someone by his side, and that person is living quite well?"

Song Yunqing nodded. "Help me check his background. He looks like a youth about the same age as Ah Sui."

"No need to check. Nobody knows who that little bastard is better than I do. Hah, as expected of a son of a bitch born from an escort, his conduct is exactly the same as his mother's. Truly shameless enough, eagerly latching onto Ah Sui like this. No wonder Ah Sui stood up for him before."

Yan Zhou's expression twisted in anger as he let out a cold sneer.

"Ah Sui is probably just acting on a whim. Is he even worthy of staying by Ah Sui's side? Yunqing, we are brothers, you have to stand on my side."

"Don't go overboard."

Song Yunqing advised, deep in thought.

The past Lin Sui was already capricious, and the current Lin Sui was even harder to read.
