Ling Shu smirked slightly, hating the man with the white hair to the core.
He was ruthless and had lost all sense of morality, playing with people's lives and using the banner of an evil god to deceive people. He even extended his demonic grasp to many innocent people, and what was even more frightening was that he could influence warlords like Zhou Yulin.
Imagine for a moment that Zhou Yulin is a warlord who holds the lives of many in his hands. If he were to make a foolish decision, with just one command, hundreds or even thousands of people could indirectly lose their lives because of the Azure Dragon Society.
If this demon is not eliminated, many people will live in fear and anxiety day and night.
Shen Renjie had never met the leader of the Azure Dragon Society, but suddenly he had a flash of insight and remembered something. "Is that the person the one pointed eyes, white hair, and a hunched back?"
"Have you seen him?" Ling Shu turned his head.
Shen Renjie nodded, "I just had a dream where I was lying on a bed of gold. Although I didn't want to wake up, I felt uneasy because I felt like someone was watching me. But now that you mention it, I remember seeing him hiding behind a wall in my dream. There were three carved lamps on the wall, very beautiful. I remember it clearly."
After pondering for a moment, Ling Shu figured out where it might be.
Outside the room where Yue Dingtang attended the banquet, there were three lamps just like the ones Shen Renjie saw in his dream.
They hadn't seen the same lamps during their escape.
Could it be that the white-haired man saw the danger and ran in that direction?
It was very possible.
"Let's go after him!"
After breaking through the encirclement, they found that there were fewer people chasing them.
Inside the Azure Dragon Society, chaos reigned. Some members were fleeing, others were rebelling, and some had lost their minds and were killing indiscriminately. But there were also those who had suddenly awakened and left decisively.
Everywhere, discarded items littered the ground, and even the kerosene lamps on the walls had been smashed. Occasionally, there were fresh corpses lying on the ground, evidence of just how chaotic the situation was.
Ling Shu had not expected Yang Chunhe's disruption of the ghost wedding to be the spark that ignited a series of subsequent chaos. But as luck would have it, this chaos was exactly the result they had been hoping for.
They feared that if they didn't uproot the Azure Dragon Mountain Villa, the white-haired leader would simply find a new base and rise again.
If that happened, all their efforts would have been for naught.
"It's those few lamps up ahead!" Shen Renjie suddenly exclaimed, causing the two of them to stop in their tracks.
Behind the lamps was a wall, and behind the wall was the room they had just left.
A figure flashed by the door, resembling the man with white hair.
Without thinking, Ling Shu chased after it. The room still had a light on, so it wasn't completely dark.
However, despite the fact that the room was visible at a glance, there wasn't a single soul in sight. Ling Shu began to doubt himself, thinking that he might have seen a ghost.
Ever since he entered the Azure Dragon Villa, strange things had been happening frequently. He had to be constantly vigilant, afraid that he might fall into the enemy's trap or be caught in a strange illusion.
But there was indeed no one in the room.
"Where did the person go? Did you see anyone just now?" he asked Shen Renjie without turning his head.
"Yes, I saw someone!" Shen Renjie replied.
"Where?"
The only place in the room where someone could hide was behind the curtain next to the chair.
Ling Shu approached and pulled it back!
No one was there.
"Who are you looking for? Are you looking for me?"
The door behind him slammed shut.
Ling Shu turned around abruptly.
Where Shen Renjie had been standing just moments before, there was now a man with white hair.
He gave Ling Shu a sinister smile.
Without hesitation, Ling Shu raised his gun and pulled the trigger.
Click.
Empty.
The man with white hair cackled. "You lose!"
He quickly pulled out his own gun and aimed it at Ling Shu's forehead with lightning speed.
Bang!
The gunshot rang out.
Ling Shu didn't move.
The man with white hair stared in disbelief, unable to comprehend how the situation had turned against him in half a second, and how he had ended up dead.
A figure emerged from behind the curtain.
It was Yue Dingtang.
He walked unsteadily, his face pale, but his hand holding the gun was steady and didn't tremble at all.
"You must be wondering when I figured out it was you." With a slight smile, Ling Shu looked at him as if he were an ant. An ant that was destined to be crushed.
"When you hid behind me and said you would lead the way, Shen Renjie is not that kind of person. He is afraid of death and values his life. When did he become so righteous? You overacted and paid with your life."
The man with white hair fell to the ground with a thud, dead without closing his eyes.
"Is he really dead this time?"
Yue Dingtang limped over and bent down to check on him.
"He should be."
Ling Shu also breathed a sigh of relief and slumped onto a chair.
"Slap me, will you? I'm not still in a dream, am I?"
Yue Dingtang walked over and lifted his chin, but instead of slapping him, he kissed him.
It was not gentle, but rather wild.
However, both of them were greedy for each other's breath, afraid of missing even a single moment.
"Do you think it's an illusion?" Yue Dingtang asked him in a low voice.
"It doesn't seem like it," Ling Shu licked his lips, feeling a bit sore.
"Shen Renjie has already taken advantage of the chaos and gone to find reinforcements. Jiang He should be able to arrive soon. There's still a mess outside that needs to be cleaned up," Yue Dingtang said, looking at Ling Shu lazily, as if he didn't want to get up at all.
"That's Jiang He's business. Right now, I just want to be with you and steal a moment of leisure," Ling Shu said.
Yue Dingtang sighed softly and, as he wished, bent down and entwined his neck with Ling Shu's.
Author's note: The main story is complete. Thank you all for accompanying Ling Shu and Old Yue through this period of time. The background of this story is special, and some of the plot needs to be carefully revised. Therefore, the speed of this story is particularly slow. Fortunately, I have roughly written down all my thoughts and expressions. For some things that are not convenient to write in the main text, I will also include them in the extras for you to enjoy at your leisure.
A little frog who likes reading. Hope you liked this chapter, and thank you for your support! Coffee fuels my midnight translation binges.
