Chapter 5 - Speeding

Zhou Yang and the others were sitting in the upper seats, taking in the commotion over here clearly. Xie Yu was just stepping over the bottom row of seats, vaulting up to their level. His face was intensely dark, visibly irritable.

Among the trio of Zhou, He, and Xie, Xie Yu probably had the worst temper. He liked to resort to punches and kicks and was famous for his violence. Seeing him come over, Lin Yin couldn't help but shrink back, hiding to the side.

Zhou Yang looked back to size up Shen Ci, wiped his face, and asked, "Can you take a beating?"

Shen Ci sat still, but his eyelid twitched involuntarily.

Zhou Yang looked him up and down: Xie Yu's little lover was tall but not robust. He looked gentle and refined, with a very scholarly air. Beneath his clothes was a thin layer of muscle, and his waist was slender. A single punch to the lower abdomen would probably make him vomit stomach acid. On top of that, Xie Yu's mental state wasn't good. If he struck without knowing his own strength, he might end up with a life on his hands.

Zhou Yang frowned and said, "Forget it, I'll put in a few good words for you."

Seeing Xie Yu approach, Zhou Yang stood up and slung an arm around his buddy's shoulders, patting him twice. He quietly pulled him a bit further away and asked with a smile, "Why aren't you driving? Is there a problem with your car?"

Xie Yu shook his head. "No problem."

He had also considered whether to lie and say the car had malfunctioned, but race cars all had maintenance records from specialists. A single check would reveal the truth. If Zhou Yang and He Zhiyuan found out he lied afterwards, it would be hard for them not to feel that something was wrong with him.

Zhou Yang paused: "Then why did you come down?"

Xie Yu pulled his arm off his shoulder: "It's nothing. I just suddenly felt that racing is meaningless."

Zhou Yang: "Suddenly felt that racing is meaningless?"

Xie Yu gave Shen Ci a meaningful look: "Of course. I leave a great beauty just sitting here by himself while I go off to race in a car, what's the point of that?"

Seeing that he had no intention of getting physical, Zhou Yang put his arm down and laughed in amusement: "Then what do you think is meaningful?"

Xie Yu: "Why are you asking so much? Your motorcycle, the limited edition MV Agusta, give me the keys."

The original owner also rode motorcycles, though not often. Zhou Yang took the keys out of his pocket and handed them over: "What do you want this for?"

"Taking someone for a spin."

Zhou Yang paused: "Taking someone for a spin?"

"You're in my way." Xie Yu pushed Zhou Yang aside and went straight ahead, stopping on the step just below Shen Ci. He looked up and smiled: "Teaching Assistant Shen, good student, have you ever ridden on a motorcycle?"

He twirled the keys in his palm and reached out a hand to Shen Ci: "Let's go. What's so interesting about watching a car race? This Young Master will take you for a joyride."

Shen Ci lowered his eyes, looking fixedly at the hand Xie Yu extended.

By now, the rain had completely stopped. A bit of the sun emerged in the west, and the golden rays shone from behind, perfectly outlining Xie Yu's handsome, well-defined brows and eyes. His facial features melted into the crimson halo, and his smile was surprisingly clean.

He looked like the kind of high school student who sat in the back row, neither listening to the lecture nor causing trouble. He might not be obedient, but he was very sincere.

It was strange to say, but when the people of Jiang City talked about Young Master Xie, they mostly spoke of his violent temperament and his endless methods of tormenting people. Shen Ci didn't know he actually had this kind of side to him.

Xie Yu urged him: "Hurry up, this is also part of the agreement."

Following Party A's arrangements when out having fun was indeed part of the agreement. It was clearly written in black and white, leaving no room for refusal.

Shen Ci lowered his eyes and placed his hand into his palm.

The temperature was slightly low after the rain, and Shen Ci's body temperature was also low. His fingers were icy cold, but Xie Yu's palm was scorching hot, so hot that Shen Ci's fingertips flinched uncomfortably.

Xie Yu casually suppressed this insignificant struggle. Closing his hand, he pulled Shen Ci up with a slight tug. He then gripped his wrist and walked quickly downwards, vaulting over the seats just like that, leading him out of the stadium under Zhou Yang's astonished gaze.

Lin Yin watched them disappear and asked quietly: "What does Young Master Xie mean by this?"

Zhou Yang withdrew his gaze and also muttered: "Has Young Master Xie changed his tune? The sun must be rising from the west."

Zhou Yang's motorcycle was parked right at the entrance of the racing track. The deep red body was flamboyant and passionate. While Xie Yu was a layman when it came to car racing, he was practically a half-expert with motorcycles. Straddling it, he inserted the key and tested the feel of the controls, roughly knowing how to drive it.

Shen Ci stood beside the bike, somewhat constrained. He had clearly never ridden a motorcycle before. He stood stiffly in place, not knowing where to put his hands and feet. Acting like an arrogant lord, Xie Yu slapped the helmet onto his head and ordered: "Get on."

He affected the tone of a wealthy young master, condescending and entirely unceremonious. However, Xie Yu was tall, wearing a white T-shirt and loose pants in a simple, free-spirited style. Straddling the motorcycle so casually with a few stray strands of hair carelessly swept behind his head, he gave off a radiant, youthful vibe that wasn't at all detestable.

Shen Ci stepped onto the footpeg and tentatively swung his leg over. He sat at the very back of the seat, bracing his hands against the pillion, staying far away from Xie Yu.

Xie Yu: "You'll fall off like that. Get closer."

Like a turtle, Shen Ci inched forward a tiny bit.

Xie Yu instructed: "Further forward... forget it, hug my waist."

The plot had requirements for physical contact. They had to be pressed together for a certain amount of time. He hadn't accumulated enough time in the car earlier, so Xie Yu planned to make it up now.

Shen Ci stiffened slightly, not moving.

Xie Yu chuckled: "What, is Teaching Assistant Shen refusing to cooperate?"

He didn't say anything more and simply ignited the engine. Turning the key, the twin-cylinder engine let out a massive roar. With the triple exhausts operating simultaneously, this steel behemoth seemed to come alive in an instant. The body of the bike violently vibrated. Startled, Shen Ci flinched and subconsciously wrapped his arms around Xie Yu.

Through the thin layer of the T-shirt, the heat from his waist seeped through the fabric. With his palms pressed against the lower abdomen, he could vaguely feel the outline of his abs.

Xie Yu laughed again.

Shen Ci acted as if he had been scalded by that laugh. He pulled his hands back, maintaining the embracing posture but cautiously leaving a slight gap, only holding onto Xie Yu lightly.

Xie Yu kindly reminded him: "Teaching Assistant Shen, you'd better hold on tighter."

Shen Ci: "..."

He looked away: "No."

In the next second, the sound of the engine abruptly grew louder. Xie Yu gripped the handlebars tightly, clutching and shifting gears in one smooth motion. The MV Agusta shot straight out like an arrow released from its bowstring.

Shen Ci: "!!!"

The wind howled past his ears, and the trees on both sides of the road retreated rapidly, turning into green-brown blurs. The tremendous acceleration brought a huge backward force. Shen Ci had never known a motorcycle could be driven so fast. Before he could react, he opened his arms and hugged Xie Yu for dear life.

His hands wrapped around Xie Yu's waist, his chest pressed against Xie Yu's back. At the moment the motorcycle took off, Shen Ci even couldn't help but press his face against him as well, clinging tightly to Xie Yu like a koala.

Xie Yu laughed again: "Teaching Assistant Shen is quite enthusiastic."

The System required physical contact and verbal teasing. The physical contact was achieved, so the verbal teasing couldn't be left out either.

Shen Ci had the mind to retort, but the motorcycle was speeding along the road, occasionally making big turning and drifting movements. He kept his eyes tightly closed, even his eyelashes trembling. Feeling his heart racing uncontrollably, he couldn't say a single word and simply grabbed onto Xie Yu tightly, as if clinging to a lifesaver.

Xie Yu: "Ow! Ow, ow, ow! Teaching Assistant Shen has quite a lot of strength. Are you pinching me now?"

Shen Ci opened his eyes, only then realizing he was using too much force. His ten fingers were dug into Young Master Xie's waist. Right now, it was more like pinching than hugging. Was this posture too ambiguous? Shen Ci hurriedly loosened his grip: "I didn't mean to."

Xie Yu asked: "What? I didn't hear you clearly, say it again."

The speed of the bike was too fast, and the wind was rushing from all sides. Pressed for an answer by him, Shen Ci raised his volume: "Sorry! I didn't mean to!"

Xie Yu chuckled and teased: "Good student, you're scared out of your wits just by this speed? This is nothing yet!"

Shen Ci paused.

'He wasn't in pain, he was faking it?'

Before he could react, he heard Xie Yu say again: "Sit tight, I'm accelerating."

Before his voice had even faded, the sound of the wind abruptly magnified. For a moment, between heaven and earth, Shen Ci could only hear the roar of the motorcycle.

The world spun around him.

Shen Ci squeezed his eyes tightly shut.

In extreme insecurity, he subconsciously hugged Xie Yu tightly. It wasn't until the bike had been ridden for a few kilometers that his body finally got used to the motorcycle's vibrations.

They were driving on a suburban asphalt road. On both sides of the road were continuous rolling green hills, displaying a lush greenery after the summer rain. The air carried the scent of plants and soil. The lingering drizzle fell on their bodies, feeling a bit cold.

Shen Ci had a cold constitution and wasn't wearing a jacket. Xie Yu was his only source of heat. Even though he now dared to open his eyes, he still clung to him subconsciously, refusing to let go.

Xie Yu let him cling to him. Shen Ci had never ridden a motorcycle before, and the speed was a bit fast for him, so it was normal to be scared. But to Xie Yu, this was just an everyday occurrence.

MV Agusta was one of the best motorcycle brands with excellent performance. Both its stability and speed were top-tier in the industry. Moreover, this wasn't an urban area; it was an access road built by the racing track. The road was smooth and sparsely populated. You wouldn't see a single soul for kilometers, so it was entirely possible to go even faster. While driving, he even kept his character persona in mind, finding the time to joke with Shen Ci: "Teaching Assistant Shen isn't going to ask me where I'm taking you? What if I sell you? Or lock you up in a small dark room."

Shen Ci: "..."

He had signed an agreement with Xie Yu. Even if he wasn't locked up, his situation wouldn't be much better. Shen Ci closed his eyes and mocked himself, but still asked: "Where are you taking me?"

Xie Yu: "Nowhere in particular, just taking a spin."

He merely wanted to avoid driving the race car; where they went wasn't important.

Keeping track of the time, Xie Yu wandered outside for about half an hour. Estimating that the race was more than halfway done, he made a turn and rode the bike back.

When he hit the brakes and stopped outside the venue, the first few cars were just crossing the finish line.

Xie Yu glanced from afar; He Zhiyuan's car wasn't among them.

He vaulted onto the spectator stands, walked up to Zhou Yang, and asked: "Where is Zhiyuan?"

Zhou Yang pointed it out to him: "Among those last few cars. He's not in good form today. Actually, none of the cars ran very well today. It's a pity you didn't race, otherwise your results would definitely have been quite good."

Xie Yu thought to himself, 'Please no.' If he had really raced, it wouldn't be a question of whether his results were good or not, but a question of how many tables would be needed for his funeral banquet.

Shen Ci took a seat in the back row, one seat apart from Lin Yin. Lin Yin cautiously observed his complexion and asked: "Did Young Master Xie do something to you?"

Shen Ci's face was pale; he really didn't look well.

Shen Ci said: "No, it's just low blood sugar."

He hadn't eaten lunch.

Lin Yin let out an "Ah" and asked: "Then do you have anything to eat?"

Shen Ci shook his head: "No."

He felt around his pocket but found it empty. He had originally bought a chocolate bar, but now it was gone. He guessed that the movements during the drag racing just now had been too intense, and it had fallen out of his pocket.
