Chapter 25 - Chapter 18 Part 2

But that only lasted a few seconds.

Bo He realized it wasn't the lightning that was making her dizzy.

It was—

An earthquake.

After this thought appeared in her mind, she felt the whole world spin.

Loose stones rustled down from above, as if a giant boulder could fall from the sky at any moment, making one's heart tremble with fear.

But the mountain path was narrow. Bo He had no choice but to quicken her pace down the mountain.

Normally, the winding mountain path was secluded and full of charm. But right now, it felt like a road carved into a cliff, with no end in sight.

Actually, this earthquake wasn't entirely without warning.

The days of storms were perhaps the final warning before the earth dragon turned over.

But the island always had a lot of rain in the summer. Who would have connected the two?

Perhaps it was a few seconds.

Perhaps it was tens of seconds.

When the shaking underfoot disappeared, a loud crash came from behind her.

Bo He subconsciously looked back.

A large tree, at least several decades old, had toppled over, its trunk blocking the path exactly where Bo He had just run past.

If she had been a few seconds slower, she might be pinned underneath it right now, unable to move.

With no time to feel relieved, she quickened her pace down the mountain.

The mountain wasn't high, and the path wasn't usually difficult to walk. The hotel had specially maintained it; otherwise, not so many guests would like to come here.

But when an unexpected natural disaster struck, this path became exceptionally treacherous, and the trees that usually added to its charm became obstacles blocking all progress.

Bo He finally ran to the fork in the path from before.

The pavilion was still there, but one of its four pillars was gone. Most of the structure had collapsed, with bricks and stones piled up, occupying most of the space underneath.

Bo He glanced at it and then sprinted down the mountain without looking back.

But after running only a dozen or so steps, she stopped abruptly.

What if Boss Qin was still in the pavilion at the time and hadn't managed to escape?

Although this big boss was indeed unlikable, he was still a human life.

Bo He sighed and turned back, running towards the pavilion.

"Boss! Boss Qin!"

With a quick glance, she couldn't see clearly what was pinned under the pavilion.

No one responded.

Bo He's heart skipped a beat. She thought, He couldn't have passed out, could he? That would be serious.

Judging by the time between her departure and the earthquake, it was highly likely that Qin Chuan hadn't left and had been sitting in the pavilion resting the whole time.

If that was the case...

The ominous feeling in Bo He's heart grew stronger and stronger.

Until her arm was yanked fiercely!

"Are you out of your mind?!"

Qin Chuan's face, ferocious and unlike his usual self, jumped into her view.

Bo He was stunned for a moment, then overjoyed.

"You're okay?"

On second thought, she felt something was wrong.

The direction Qin Chuan came from was downhill, not uphill.

In other words, he had already left the pavilion and was heading down the mountain, but he turned back?

She had many questions, but there was no time to ask. Qin Chuan didn't let go of her arm, dragging her straight down the mountain.

With his two long legs, one of his strides was as long as three of hers.

Fortunately, Bo He was a fast runner and was actually able to keep up, not truly being dragged along.

Another slight tremor came.

It was smaller than the last one, but still clearly perceptible.

The two of them staggered forward and quickly stopped, but as soon as they did, a rock from above came crashing down!

There was only about half a second to react.

If Bo He hadn't looked up, that rock would have landed on their heads.

It was impossible to say who would have been unlucky—it could have been her, or it could have been Qin Chuan.

But there was no need to gamble on those odds. In that split second, Bo He didn't think much at all.

She immediately grabbed Qin Chuan with a reverse grip and shoved him to the side!

Qin Chuan didn't expect her to be so strong and was caught off guard, pushed sideways.

Both of them fell to the ground together, the sharp pain of loose stones and gravel instantly felt through their clothes.

"What are you do—"

The angry rebuke hadn't left his lips when Qin Chuan saw the rock land where they had just been standing. He was instantly silenced.
