Bo He felt something was a bit strange.
She didn't know that Wei Feizhou and the Qin's had been at odds for a long time.
Nor did she know that Qin Chuan, in pursuit of a partnership, had lowered himself to seek out Wei Feizhou several times.
Out of intuition, she felt that the current atmosphere was somewhat off.
Business is all about valuing harmony. Even if they couldn't stand each other in private, they would at least put on a smile and exchange a few pleasantries on the surface.
No matter how much Wei Feizhou enjoyed playing games, he wouldn't poach someone right in front of Qin Chuan like this.
Regardless of whether there was a grudge between the two or if Wei Feizhou genuinely wanted to poach her, a small fry like her was just cannon fodder and a human shield pushed out when the main characters in a story clash.
Bo He thought, she had to struggle to save her own fate somehow, to try and survive a little longer.
"Thank you for the high praise, CEO Wei. I've only been at Shengming Company for a little over half a year. I have no seniority, let alone experience. It's the time for me to be learning diligently from my seniors." Bo He gave a well-behaved smile.
Wei Feizhou pointed a finger at her a couple of times without touching her, then turned to Qin Chuan.
"Look at that. Young ladies these days are so sensible and understanding. Leaving her with you is like casting a pearl into darkness. What a waste. Why not give her to me!"
The implication was, wasn't he saying Qin Chuan was the one who was insensible and unreasonable?
Qin Chuan showed no anger. Instead, he smiled and said, "How about this? I'll hand this talent over to you. In consideration of my sincerity, would you consider the matter of us jointly developing that plot of land in the cultural district?"
Wei Feizhou laughed heartily. "Trying to trade an assistant for a contract, Young CEO Qin has it all planned out. Your father always says a tiger father has a dog son, but I think otherwise. In a few more years, I'm afraid you'll have surpassed your master!"
If Bo He still couldn't tell that these two were using her as a pretext for a war of words, she'd be wasting her intelligence.
But as a mere bystander, she could neither storm off in a huff nor start cursing.
So Bo He shut her mouth and played dead, pretending she was a mute.
But her eyes and ears couldn't block out the sights and sounds; they were automatically watching the show.
Qin Chuan was usually such a stern person, but on this matter with Wei Feizhou, he didn't spare his words.
"CEO Wei, you flatter me. Although Shengming Company is a subsidiary of the Qin Group, it is completely independent in terms of operation and management. Its style of doing things also differs from the Qin Group. If you could spare the time to look at the project documents I sent over, you'll see that Shengming Company and Weifeng Company would be the most suitable partners. I also believe that the terms we are offering will be the most satisfactory among all the options."
Wei Feizhou raised a hand, stopping him from continuing.
"Young CEO Qin, I arrived a while ago, I just didn't greet you. I saw how you interact with others. With me, you have indeed given me enough face. But it's a pity, I never work with the Qin family, regardless of whether it's a subsidiary or the parent company. Your surname is Qin, and you are Qin Shiyu's son. That's something that can never be changed."
Qin Chuan said in a deep voice, "Business is business, and personal matters are personal matters. I'm not too clear on what feud you have with my father, but one thing should be kept separate from another. For you to have grown your business to this scale, I'm sure you don't act purely on impulse. A partnership benefits both, a separation harms both. For you to disregard your company's interests over a personal feud, don't you think it's a pity?"
Wei Feizhou smiled. "If I don't work with you, at most I'll give the other party a better deal and earn a little less. It can hardly be called 'harming both.' But if I work with you, I'll feel awkward and uncomfortable. Tell me, if you were me, which would you choose?"
Bo He thought to herself, Of course, you'd choose the one that makes you feel better.
As expected, Wei Feizhou continued, "Of course, I'd choose the one that makes me feel more comfortable."
Qin Chuan was silent for a moment. "In my view, you are a rational person. I hope you will reconsider."
Wei Feizhou let out a laugh. "Know yourself, know your enemy, and you will win a hundred battles. Young CEO Qin, it seems you've never understood me. I have never been a rational person. Otherwise, when I was looked down upon by Qin Shiyu back then, I wouldn't have stubbornly insisted on building my career out of spite. If I were truly rational, I probably would have given up long ago when my company faced difficulties, instead of thinking of taking a gamble and persisting. Speaking of which, I really have to thank your old man. He's the one who provoked my stubbornness."
After saying that, he patted Qin Chuan's shoulder.
"An old friend has arrived over there. I'll go say hello first. Please excuse me."
As he passed by Bo He, Wei Feizhou pulled out a business card and handed it to her.
"Young lady, take it. I wasn't joking with you just now. If you really want to come over, double salary, you're welcome anytime."
Had it been someone else, being poached in front of their own boss would be somewhat awkward, and they would treat the business card like a hot potato.
But, Bo He only hesitated for a moment before accepting it with both hands and thanking him graciously.
"Thank you, CEO Wei."
Wei Feizhou gave a slight nod at her straightforward attitude and walked away.
Bo He glanced at the business card, quickly memorized the contact information on it, and then handed it to Qin Chuan.
"Boss, it would have been impolite not to accept it just now. What do you think?"
Qin Chuan said coolly, "Then you can keep it."
Bo He could see he was in a bad mood, but Qin Chuan at least remembered his manners, proactively offering his arm for her to take, instead of just walking off.
"How did you start talking to him just now?" Qin Chuan suddenly asked.
Wei Feizhou was notoriously difficult to approach and had a strange temper. A newcomer like Bo He with no connections had actually managed to have a pleasant conversation with him.
It wasn't that Qin Chuan misunderstood anything; he just wanted to use this as an angle to try again.
He probably wouldn't give up easily until the news of Wei Feizhou's collaboration with someone else was announced.
"I was lingering there for a bit and happened to see CEO Wei playing a game. He was killed not long after the game started, so I gave him a couple of pointers. He asked me to play for him, so I played while telling him how to fight."
There was nothing to hide about this, so Bo He told him everything in detail.
Qin Chuan: "Do you think he really likes playing games?"
Bo He: "I don't think so. He probably just plays in his spare time, otherwise his game level wouldn't be so low."
Qin Chuan glanced at her. "So, are you tempted by his offer?"
Bo He smiled. "CEO Wei was joking. I know my own limits."
Qin Chuan nodded and said no more.
Setting aside her past few performances, Bo He had been doing very well since returning to her original department. This time, in front of Wei Feizhou, she hadn't dragged him down either.
She's just one small employee. Keeping her is fine; she doesn't take up much space. If he fired her and she turned around and ran to Wei Feizhou, wouldn't that just give Wei Feizhou an excuse to mock him?
Thinking of this, Qin Chuan temporarily set aside the matter of firing her. Afterward, he even remembered to tell Guan Shen to give Bo He a bonus and overtime pay for both saving the person and accompanying the boss to the banquet, as previously promised.
And Bo He, she had no idea she had just made a full circle between being fired and not being fired, ending up right back where she started.
In her eyes, although Boss Qin was difficult to talk to and biased against her, he was at least generous with money.
Shengming Company was indeed, as rumored, generous with its compensation.
