Chapter 54 - Chapter 51 Part 2

Wang Yacheng was almost thrown off. "Are you trying to get us killed?" he grumbled.

Wu Qiong: "It's an earthquake, you idiot, can't you feel it so obviously?"

The tremors under his feet made Wang Yacheng freeze for a moment, his face turned pale as he got off the motorcycle, standing there in a daze for a while: "No, this isn't right..."

The last time Earth was attacked, Wang Yizheng had told him that earthquakes shake, but this kind of continuous tremor was the result of the Earth's protective shield being damaged.

But wasn't the shield already repaired?

Weren't there countless elites and missiles guarding outside the atmosphere?

The boy raised his head; his face, beneath a layer of cheap powder, turned a ghastly white as he looked up at the sky.

"What's that sound..." Wu Qiong murmured.

A faint, buzzing sound like bees came from the night sky, the frequency staying level but getting louder and louder, like a kind of white noise gradually increasing in volume. All the other surrounding sounds seemed to become muffled, as if separated by a thick pane of glass. A moment later, the street lights went out with a "pop".

Wang Yacheng came to his senses and gave her a hard push: "Go find your brother!"

Wu Qiong was stunned: "But Fourth Brother said for us to go to the No. 3 Middle School entrance..."

"Fuck Fourth Brother!" Wang Yacheng turned and ran.

The delinquent girl called after him, "Wait, where are you going?"

Wang Yacheng couldn't even bother to answer, he ran with all his might toward the city's light rail line.

But what awaited him ahead was a citywide paralyzed transportation system.

A string of signal lights on the elevated light rail were all lifelessly dark, countless people were jammed on the platform, shouts, questions, children crying... one after another.

Wang Yacheng put his hands on his knees, gasping for breath.

At that moment, he suddenly felt a chill on his cheek.

Wang Yacheng instinctively reached up and wiped, rain...?

The rainwater carried a certain special smell, the falling raindrops getting bigger and bigger, drenching Wang Yacheng's colorful mohawk like a lump of plastic draped over his head. He wiped his face, and the heavy black eyeliner smeared across his pale skin, making him look even more like a ghost.

He struggled to open his eyes in the curtain of rain, spitting out a mouthful. Suddenly he charged out of the crowd, running along the main road in the pouring rain.

By the time the heavy rain stopped more than half an hour later, Wang Yacheng was covered in mud.

He really couldn't run anymore, leaning against a building on the side to rest for a moment. Just then, a piercing scream suddenly came from not far away, someone bumped into him in a panic, running into the building behind Wang Yacheng in a flurry.

The boy looked up in astonishment, only to see a strangely shaped warhead growing from small to large, carrying a shrill whistle and eye-searing flames, charging across and falling on the square not far from him.

Wang Yacheng instinctively crouched, curling into a ball, but the huge shock wave slammed him against the wall, sending him rolling in the dust as the roar momentarily deafened him.

After what felt like an eternity, he dazedly raised his head, only to see a woman's severed arm lying in a bloody mess less than half a block away, the rest of her body nowhere to be seen.

Wang Yacheng gasped, hurriedly retracting his hands and feet, his whole body shaking uncontrollably.

Just then, he heard a scream coming from somewhere: "Look at the sky!"

The sky was darker and heavier than the night.

A large shadow cast down, due to the distance, one could only see faint and cold rings of light floating in the shadow that covered the sky, as if something was landing on Earth.

No...

Impossible!

At that moment, Wang Yacheng suddenly found strength from somewhere, propping himself up, getting to his feet, and recklessly rushing to the side road. He grabbed an abandoned motorcycle, swung his leg over, revved the engine, and headed straight for the Space Science Academy.

Dad was still there!

His only family...

The internet was completely down, he couldn't open the navigation, he could only go by memory and rush desperately in the direction of the Space Science Academy.

Wang Yacheng didn't dare to think, if it really was aliens landing on Earth, if they really lost... what would be the fate of Wang Yizheng as a military civilian?

And... Fu Luo.

Was Fu Luo still alive?

An unprecedented feeling of fragility and powerlessness attacked him, Wang Yacheng lowered his head, facing the howling wind, reaching up to wipe away tears.

Suddenly, he slammed on the brakes. The hovering motorcycle hit the ground hard, throwing him off before landing on top of him and crushing his legs. Wang Yacheng didn't seem to feel the pain. He sprawled on the ground, his face covered in dust, desperately craning his neck to see the Space Science Academy being blown to smithereens in the raging flames.

"Dad..." His eyes were frantic, his gaze unfocused. He opened his mouth, but no sound came out. He reached out his hand in vain, as if trying to grasp something.

Dad!

Dad!

Da...

Wang Yacheng gasped spasmodically, all his words stuck in his throat. For a moment, he could only make a "clucking" sound.

"Ah..." After an unknown amount of time, he finally found his hoarse voice again and questioned the inaudible people in the sky, "What are you all doing? Huh? What are you all doing?!"

He wailed before the raging fire.
