Gu Fei's mother was not in the store, but the door was not closed. When Jiang Cheng followed Gu Fei in, he saw Li Yan sitting behind the checkout playing with his phone.
"What are you doing here?" Gu Fei said.
"The world has really changed." Li Yan said, "You actually ask me that question."
"Just asking." Gu Fei put the guitar in the small compartment.
"Was that a guitar you were holding?" Li Yan glanced over in shock. "Damn I didn't see wrong you can play the guitar now?"
"It was a cello." Gu Fei came out, looked at the shelves, took a bag of flour over, "Let's make dumplings later, join us."
"I won't," Li Yan glanced at Jiang Cheng, "I'm leaving now."
"Eat with us." Jiang Cheng said. "It's so late already."
"You think he really wants me to stay and help with the work?" Li Yan said. "He's just looking for someone to help out."
"Eating or not?" Gu Fei looked at him.
"Eating! Tell me if I'm mincing filling or kneading dough!" Li Yan asked.
"You roll the skins." Gu Fei said.
"Okay," Li Yan nodded, and continued playing on his phone, "Call me when it's time to roll the skins. I'll play for a while first."
Gu Fei took meat from the fridge to the kitchen. Jiang Cheng picked up the bag of flour, intending to follow him to the kitchen to knead the dough. When he walked past Li Yan, he hesitated and glanced down at Li Yan's phone.
Sure enough, it was the stupid Candy Crush game.
"How many levels have you passed?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"Passed Gu Fei by 3 levels again," Li Yan raised an eyebrow at him, "What do you say, can you help him catch up tonight?"
"I didn't help him play." Jiang Cheng said.
"Come on, if you didn't help him he would be at least 7 levels slower now," Li Yan lowered his head to continue playing, "Ever since knowing you, his speed of passing levels is like riding a rocket. If it's not you then who is it?"
"Really not me, I've never ridden a rocket." Jiang Cheng said.
Li Yan put down his phone and looked at him: "Hey I found your mouth is more sarcastic than Gu Fei's!"
Jiang Cheng smiled and picked up the flour bag to walk to the kitchen.
"Hey, Jiang Cheng," Li Yan lowered his voice and called him. "Where did you guys just go?"
Jiang Cheng looked back at him without answering. Li Yan's question was a bit sharp if asked carelessly. Where did we just go, went to date, and touched and kissed.
"...I mean," Li Yan probably also realized the angle was inaccurate and adjusted it, "He played the guitar?"
Jiang Cheng still didn't say anything. After the "Composer Gu Fei" incident, he became very sensitive about anything regarding Gu Fei. He didn't know if Gu Fei was willing to let Li Yan know, even though he knew Li Yan was very close with Gu Fei.
"He hasn't openly played the guitar for at least two years now." Li Yan glanced towards the kitchen.
This was probably true. After all, ordinary people would at most have loose guitar strings if not playing for a long time, while Gu Fei directly took off the strings.
"Openly?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"Yeah, whether he secretly held a guitar and serenaded the moon alone in the dead of night, no one knows." Li Yan said.
"Oh." Jiang Cheng smiled.
"I'm asking you!" Li Yan looked at him.
Jiang Cheng held his gaze for a while, then quickly walked to the kitchen.
"Damn," Li Yan was a little annoyed, "Running so fast!"
"Riding a rocket!" Jiang Cheng said.
"What are you guys talking about?" Gu Fei asked from the kitchen.
"Farting around." Jiang Cheng said, carrying the flour into the kitchen. Gu Fei handed him a bowl and as he poured in flour, he whispered, "Has it been a long time since you played the guitar?"
"Did Li Yan ask you?" Gu Fei looked at the flour.
"Yeah," Jiang Cheng continued pouring flour, "I didn't tell him, but he can probably guess right?"
Gu Fei reached out and lifted the flour bag a bit: "That's enough."
Jiang Cheng put the flour bag aside. Gu Fei came over and kissed his ear: "Don't be so careful, it'll be tiring."
"I was afraid you would..." Jiang Cheng glanced at him, slapped the countertop with one hand, and imitated his tone while whispering to the wall, "And then? Brother Cheng, and then?"
Gu Fei laughed beside him. Jiang Cheng also laughed for a while, then sighed, touched his face: "Gu Fei."
"Hmm." Gu Fei responded.
"I really didn't know, and I wasn't deliberately trying to bother you," Jiang Cheng pinched his chin, "I'm sorry."
"Don't say that," Gu Fei said, "I'm not blaming you, just my own thoughts."
"Anyway," Jiang Cheng thought for a moment, "You said it out, so I understand now. I just want to say... "
He paused, then suddenly leaned in close to Gu Fei, almost nose to nose: "Gu Fei."
"Yeah." Gu Fei's eyes met for a moment, then quickly looked behind him.
"I'm not trying to kiss you, don't think too much," Jiang Cheng couldn't help but laugh. "I have something very serious I want to talk to you about."
"Go ahead," Gu Fei smiled.
"Close your eyes," Jiang Cheng said. After Gu Fei closed his eyes, he said another sentence, "Open them."
"If you want to close your eyes, I'll stay with you. If you want to open your eyes, I'll be here to listen," Jiang Cheng said. He cleared his throat and then softly hummed, "I think, you're by my left shoulder, smiling on my right..."
Gu Fei looked at him for a good while without saying anything.
"I got it right, didn't I?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"I realized you're pretty amazing," Gu Fei said. "Did you memorize this song too?"
"No," Jiang Cheng said. "I just remembered that one line, forgot everything else."
"How could you remember that song when I sang it only for you, but not this one?" Gu Fei squinted his eyes.
"Of course, I'm still dizzy from it," Jiang Cheng said. "If you hadn't shown off, I might have remembered a couple more lines. But you were so smug about that one line, even a pig could remember it."
"Ah," Gu Fei held back a laugh and nodded slightly. "That makes sense."
Jiang Cheng sighed without saying anything else.
Gu Fei also stayed silent, just standing there cheek to cheek with him.
