What is it like to have a top student boyfriend?
It's when you're in the midst of passion, tenderness and affection, and he suddenly wants to do a set of test papers. You can only sit beside him and keep time for him. Especially if he's a super top student, he can make the extremely boring act of doing test papers seem full of sacredness when he becomes engrossed in it.
This kind of naturally arising sacredness makes you feel like even getting hard is impossible when facing someone you like so much, and even if you do get hard, you'll feel completely guilty.
And when he's finally finished a set of papers, it's nearly time for dinner. Just when you're about to ask what to eat, he'll suddenly remind you that you still have homework to copy.
After you disdainfully copy the homework while thinking it's finally over, your phone rings...
Gu Fei picked up his phone and glanced at it. There was a simple and concise message from Gu Miao:
- Come back
He didn't go back for dinner yesterday, or rather he hasn't been back since he went out to play basketball yesterday morning. Gu Miao must be missing him.
- Coming back
He replied to Gu Miao.
"What are you eating for dinner tonight?" He asked Jiang Cheng after replying to the message.
"...Fried rice cakes?" Jiang Cheng thought for a moment.
"Damn," Gu Fei laughed, "Aren't you sick of them?"
"Or let's order takeout," Jiang Cheng rubbed his stomach, "Rice cakes are quite filling, I'm not even hungry yet... Who messaged you?"
"Er Miao," Gu Fei said, "Told me to go back."
"Then go back," Jiang Cheng said as he looked through his homework notebook, "You've copied the homework too. At least change some of the answers, you copied everything exactly the same..."
"It's not an exam," Gu Fei said, "With the help of my top student deskmate, I got full marks on the homework. What's the problem?"
"Your top student deskmate just wants to sigh," Jiang Cheng put away the finished test papers, "Are you still resting at home tomorrow?"
"Not resting anymore," Gu Fei shook his head, "Come pick me up?"
"Can you get up? Why are you suddenly so enthusiastic?" Jiang Cheng leaned back in his chair and stretched lazily.
"What do you think?" Gu Fei smiled.
Jiang Cheng insisted on finishing his stretch before standing up and hugging him.
Gu Fei hugged him tightly and closed his eyes for a moment.
The test papers they did in the afternoon were for Chinese. Jiang Cheng felt it went okay. After sending Gu Fei downstairs at his home, he planned to go eat something before doing the English test papers tonight.
"Can you get upstairs yourself?" Jiang Cheng watched Gu Fei enthusiastically limping and unable to stop himself.
"I can, I'll be stepping lively once I get into the building," Gu Fei hopped on one leg, "Ride your bike back first, you still have to come pick me up tomorrow anyway."
"I'll call you when I leave, don't be late. I don't want to be late," Jiang Cheng said, "After all, Old Xu... I should give him some face."
"Okay, don't worry." Gu Fei smiled.
"Then you... go upstairs," Jiang Cheng looked left and right, there were quite a few people coming and going downstairs now, he couldn't do anything else either, "I'm going back."
Gu Fei quickly touched his hand that was holding the bike handlebar.
"Naughty hand," Jiang Cheng said, and also quickly touched his hand in return, then turned his bike around, looking at him, "Once you go up I'll leave."
"Send me a message after you finish the test papers tonight." Gu Fei hopped towards the building entrance twice.
"Okay." Jiang Cheng nodded.
After watching Gu Fei hop into the corridor and run up the stairs in three big strides, Jiang Cheng finally rode away on his bike.
What is it like to have a boyfriend pretending to be lame?
It's having to get up twenty minutes earlier than usual in the morning, then calling him to wake up, riding your bike to wait downstairs at his home, watching him pretend to limp and sit on the back of your bike, then taking him to eat breakfast, and after breakfast still having to take him to school.
To make it seem real and believable, you even have to buy water for him during breaks, help him go to the bathroom. If he wants a smoke during the break, you have to help him run over again.
After school you also can't stay with him longer, you have to send him back on time, because his sister is very worried and waits at the door when school ends.
But after three days of this life, you'll get used to it. After all, he rarely came to school on time normally, so going to school together early in the morning is still quite wonderful.
Tomorrow is the Labor Day holiday, although it's only three days, everyone is still very excited, excitedly talking about where to go play while cursing the teachers for assigning a bunch of homework to hold them back.
In fact there isn't much homework for this holiday compared to before, it's almost like none. For their previous three-day holidays, homework would be assigned as if it was a seven-day holiday.
In the past, Pan Zhi always copied his homework. He didn't know who Pan Zhi would copy from this time for the Labor Day holiday.
"I need to go to the community hospital later," Gu Fei said.
"What for?" Jiang Cheng was puzzled.
"To change the dressing, change to a smaller splint that's easier to move around with," Gu Fei said.
"Wouldn't that give it away?" Jiang Cheng looked at his leg, the splint was indeed wrapped quite exaggeratedly.
"Just need to buy it and bring it back to wrap up," Gu Fei said, "Last time, Li Yan and the others went to buy it and wrapped it up, I just need a smaller one this time."
"Okay, I'll go with you later," Jiang Cheng nodded.
"Mainly for the elderly uncles and aunties to see that my leg has really been broken for a few days," Gu Fei said.
"Oh," Jiang Cheng thought for a moment and laughed again, "How long before you can take it off?"
"Half a month," Gu Fei said, "After taking it off I can keep limping for a while."
Jiang Cheng's phone rang. He took it out and glanced at it, it was a message from Pan Zhi.
- We're on the train!
Jiang Cheng was puzzled for a moment and quickly replied.
- We?
- Don't worry, not with Yu Xin
- Who else?
- Hu Fengfeng and Da Li, and two girls you probably don't know
- Who?
- I'll introduce you when we arrive
- Need to introduce both? Not bad, you're awesome
- F*ck off! Get some midnight snacks ready for us
- Sleeping where?
Jiang Cheng frantically messaged back while helping Gu Fei walk to the school gate. He knew Pan Zhi would bring people over, but didn't expect he would bring girls, and so mysteriously... Has he changed targets so quickly?
"Pan An?" Gu Fei asked.
"Yeah, they're arriving tonight," Jiang Cheng said, "I still have to go pick up these brats."
"You can eat at the shop later," Gu Fei said, "Eat first then go pick them up?"
"Okay, is there food?" Jiang Cheng turned to look at Gu Fei. As he turned, their faces were so close he could almost kiss Gu Fei's nose. He quickly turned his face away, afraid he might accidentally kiss him.
"Yeah, my mom bought groceries," Gu Fei smiled.
It took a while for Pan Zhi's reply to come through.
- I'll squeeze in with you, the rest are staying at the hotel, don't bother I already booked them
- Aren't you staying at the hotel with one of the girls?
- I'm telling you very seriously I'm not that kind of person
Jiang Cheng laughed for a long time.
"So happy?" Gu Fei said.
"The idiot brought two girls over," Jiang Cheng said while laughing, "Don't know what their relationship is."
"Where are they staying?" Gu Fei asked.
"Pan Zhi's staying at my place, the rest are staying at a hotel," Jiang Cheng said.
"Oh——" Gu Fei drew out the sound.
"Should've bought two pillows, nevermind, I'll let him roll up a blanket," Jiang Cheng said.
"Oh——" Gu Fei drew out the sound again.
"No, you..." Jiang Cheng was puzzled for a moment before reacting, "F*ck, are you really..."
“Can’t he sleep on the sofa?” Gu Fei cut him off. “Has to be the bed? It’s not cold now, the sofa would freeze him to death?”
“It wouldn't,” Jiang Cheng held in laughter for a while. “The sofa! Let him take the sofa!”
“Why’s he on the sofa,” Gu Fei continued. “Why can’t he stay at a hotel? Everyone else does, why’s he insisting on your place?”
“Ah,” Jiang Cheng looked at him, somewhat speechless. “Yeah.”
Gu Fei also turned to stare at him. After a bit he laughed and asked again, “What is 'yeah'?”
“F*ck,” Jiang Cheng said. “Are you really jealous or fake jealous?”
"Half real, half fake," Gu Fei interrupted him, "I just feel like in this situation I have to be a little jealous, or it doesn't show that I'm important."
"You're so important, the most important, I've never taken care of a pretend cripple like this before," Jiang Cheng laughed, "Just lacking helping you hold it in the bathroom."
"I'll pass on the bathroom help," Gu Fei sighed, "Just help me walk around normally..."
"Shut up," Jiang Cheng saw Gu Miao standing at the school gate.
It's hard to say if jealousy is real or fake.
Gu Fei had never been jealous before in his life, he didn't have the opportunity to be jealous over anything. He didn't know what being jealous felt like. It was probably like now, for Pan Zhi whom he called Pan An but actually didn't look bad, there was a subtle displeasure, although he was very clear that Jiang Cheng would not have anything going on with Student Pan An who had mysteriously brought girls.
The so-called "jealousy" was probably more of a feeling of disconnect from Jiang Cheng's past environment and those old friends of his, the people and events he had never been in contact with before.
But Jiang Cheng was in a good mood, and he was also willing to ignore these feelings of his own and go along with the uplifted mood.
Back at the shop, Jiang Cheng helped him inside. The two of them walked into the community hospital with grave expressions, bought a lighter splint that was easier to move around in, as well as some bandages and medicine.
The doctor was quite familiar with Gu Fei. Over the years he had been injured no small number of times. To buy these things, the doctor didn't ask much, also didn't ask why he wasn't changing dressings and splint at the hospital.
Carrying a bunch of stuff, Gu Fei went into the back room to change it himself. Jiang Cheng leaned against the door to the room standing guard, afraid someone might suddenly come in and see.
Gu Miao stood in front of Gu Fei holding her skateboard, watching coldly with great interest. She already knew Gu Fei's injury was fake, but was very curious about binding up his leg.
After Gu Fei put on the new splint, she stretched her own leg out in front of him and rolled up her pants leg, glaring at him.
"...Fine." Gu Fei sighed, grabbed some bandages from the side, and wrapped her leg a few circles, securing it with medical tape.
Gu Miao was extremely satisfied. She walked out past Jiang Cheng hugging her skateboard, even her steps carried a light breeze.
"You can sit, just tell me how to prepare and cook these ingredients," Jiang Cheng said with a laugh after she went to the backyard. "I'll take care of it."
"Just boil it all together in one pot..." Gu Fei didn't even finish speaking before Gu Miao ran back in and stood next to Jiang Cheng again.
"What's up?" Jiang Cheng asked her.
Gu Miao bent down and tugged at Jiang Cheng's pant leg.
"I'm fine," Jiang Cheng said, "My leg is good, your brother's leg is fine too..."
"Here," Gu Fei laughed and grabbed the roll of bandages beside him, "She wants to share something fun with you."
"...F*ck me?" Jiang Cheng was a little helpless as he walked over, "I have to tie this on as well?"
"Mm-hmm," Gu Fei nodded.
Jiang Cheng sat down a little reluctantly in front of him and pulled up his pant leg, "Fine, do it."
Gu Fei grabbed his leg and rested it on top of his own, then took the bandage and wrapped it around once.
Jiang Cheng's calf was very straight, and very... evenly muscular. It looked... felt... Gu Fei cleared his throat and glanced over at Gu Miao. Gu Miao was staring at his hands.
He could only focus and continue wrapping up, one circle, fingers lightly grazing Jiang Cheng's skin, two circles, fingers lightly grazing Jiang Cheng's skin, three circles, fingers lightly grazing Jiang Cheng's skin...
"F*cking hell," Jiang Cheng said.
"Hm?" He looked up at Jiang Cheng.
Jiang Cheng had a strange expression, "Do you know how or not? If you don't I'll go next door and have the doctor do it."
"I know how," Gu Fei held in his laugh and quickly wrapped two more circles, then taped it securely, "Done."
Jiang Cheng pulled his pants down, got up and stamped his foot. He followed Gu Miao out of the small room, then turned back and pointed at him, "Gu Fei, today I finally see what kind of person you are."
"What kind of person?" Gu Fei looked at him with a smile.
"A horndog," Jiang Cheng said. "All the horndogs in the world should refer to you."
Gu Fei lay back on the bed laughing for a good while and couldn't stop.
Jiang Cheng stared at him without speaking or laughing for a bit, then suddenly strode over, pounced on him, and fiercely kissed his lips while groping down his pants.
"F*ck!" Gu Fei was startled, but as a healthy teenage boy with a sound mind, right at the age of "spring arrives and all creatures become randy", even if he was startled, he would still immediately rise to the straightforward provocation.
But as soon as he rose, Jiang Cheng had already gotten off of him again, and walked out while saying, "Savor this moment, youth."
"F*ck," Gu Fei was stunned for a good while, then lay back down on the bed and continued laughing happily for a good while longer.
Jiang Cheng's cooking skills compared to his studying abilities, absolutely belonged to the failing category, even big time failing. Gu Fei could see him busy fumbling around in the kitchen from his spot behind the cashier counter. Under Gu Miao's commands he clumsily cut up ingredients, then dumped everything into the pot.
Just as he was thinking of taking out his phone to record a clip commemoratively, a few people walked in from outside. He glanced over, "Brother Ma."
Monkey's surname was Ma. By now he himself had already suffered a loss under Monkey, so he might as well call him Brother Ma and let Monkey feel proud to the end.
"How's your leg?" Monkey grabbed a pack of cigarettes from the rack behind him, tore it open and lit one up.
"Changed the splint today, still need a week." Gu Fei said.
"Rest well," Monkey looked back and one of the men who followed him in came forward, placing a box of milk on the counter. Monkey patted the milk box, "This is for you."
"Thanks for the concern, Brother Ma," Gu Fei said.
Monkey didn't speak, just slowly wandered between the shelves in the store, grabbing things as he went and throwing them to the people following behind him.
Gu Fei only recognized one of these people. The rest were probably new recruits taken in by Monkey. Bringing them here was showing off that he had the ability to subdue people, and also the magnanimity to let bygones be bygones and laugh it off.
Gu Fei didn't care about groveling a bit. What he was worried about was Monkey seeing Jiang Cheng here and getting unhappy.
After all, Jiang Cheng was seen as his "lackey". Now that he had already lost, having his lackey cooking for Gu Fei, was different from just taking him to school.
Gu Fei looked towards the backyard. He discovered Jiang Cheng was no longer in the kitchen. His reaction was fast, in just this time, he had already hidden away.
Monkey walked around the shop grabbing some food without speaking to him again before leaving with his people.
Gu Fei stood up after a few minutes, hopping to the back on one leg.
“Brother Cheng?” He called out.
“Here,” Jiang Cheng walked out from the side bathroom, while adjusting his pants. “They left?”
“Left,” Gu Fei glanced at him. “Still pretending.”
“So are you,” Jiang Cheng looked at his still lifted leg.
Gu Fei set his leg down with a smile. Jiang Cheng went into the kitchen where the soup was boiling. He turned the heat down. “Monkey's surname is Ma?”
“Mm,” Gu Fei nodded.
“Why's he okay with the nickname Monkey?” Jiang Cheng said. “Isn't he worried people call him Big Ape Ma behind his back?”
Gu Fei just laughed without answering.
Meat and veggies all cooked together would taste good no matter what, this dish was best at hiding poor cooking skills.
Just the three of them yet they finished the entire huge pot, Gu Miao even ate two bowls of rice.
After cleaning up the bowls and chopsticks, the two of them sat in the store playing on their phones. Gu Miao lay on the small table doing her homework. Even though she stopped going to school, Gu Fei still required her to read textbooks by herself every day, and then gave her assignments.
The little girl did work very hard, but she basically got everything wrong.
Because Gu Miao was there, the two of them could only touch legs and hold hands for fun, but they still somehow enjoyed it. People really do lower their standards in difficult environments...
"Half an hour early should be enough time right?" Around 9 o'clock, Jiang Cheng looked at his phone.
"Yeah," Gu Fei nodded, "It's about time now. Are you taking a taxi or the bus?"
"I'll take the bus," Jiang Cheng said, "And get a taxi after picking them up."
"Then you should get going now," Gu Fei said.
"I'll call you after I pick them up," Jiang Cheng said, "We can go eat supper together."
"There's no need for that right? Your classmates... I won't go eat with you guys." Gu Fei hesitated for a moment.
"The focus isn't on eating," Jiang Cheng looked at him, "I just want... Don't you want to meet some of my classmates? It doesn't matter who, just Pan Zhi. I was closest to him before."
"Okay," Gu Fei nodded, "Then I'll wait for your call."
Standing at the train station exit again, Jiang Cheng looked around at the chaotic crowds, shabby shops. There was no change from when he first arrived here.
It was quite amazing. Jiang Cheng lit a cigarette and held it in his mouth. He suddenly felt a little disoriented, as if he could turn around and still see Gu Miao with her messy hair.
In just a few months, he had gone from anger, distress, confusion, and had made it through. Now he could actually stand here calmly and wait for Pan Zhi and the others with some excitement.
These classmates carried his past life and past memories, yet he didn't feel melancholy thinking about these things like he did a few months ago.
His adaptability was indeed still very strong after all.
Jiang Cheng gave himself a thumbs up in his pocket.
Awesome.
A train had arrived, but Jiang Cheng didn't pay attention to which one it was, and was too lazy to stare at the crowds. He just stood on a nearby rock pedestal and waited for Pan Zhi and the others to come find him.
"Cheng'er!" Pan Zhi's excited yell came from the left after a few minutes.
Jiang Cheng turned to see Pan Zhi dragging a suitcase running towards him. He smiled and jumped off the rock pedestal, shouting: "Grandson!"
"Grandpa!" Pan Zhi ran up to him and shouted again, coming over to hug him, "How long were you waiting?"
"Just got here," Jiang Cheng looked behind Pan Zhi and saw Hu Feng and Li Song, and two girls further back. Although he didn't recognize them, he could tell they were from Huang Hui's class. He immediately moved closer to Pan Zhi and asked in a low voice, "How did you end up going after girls from Huang Hui's class? No girls in other classes?"
"Grandpa, be reasonable," Pan Zhi kept his voice down, "Li Yuqing, she went after me. The other one with the mushroom head is called Xu Meng."
Jiang Cheng looked again. The two girls had similar hairstyles, one longer and one shorter. He clicked his tongue, "Which one, the long hair or the short hair?"
"The short one, you can't call the long hair a mushroom head!" As Pan Zhi spoke, he turned around and shouted at the people behind, "Hurry up!"
When Hu Feng and Li Song came over chattering at him, Jiang Cheng suddenly had a feeling he hadn't had in a long time. It had only been a few months, and he felt like he had already adapted to the situation, yet he still felt a sudden inexplicable excitement.
"Fengfeng, you got fatter again." Jiang Cheng looked at Hu Feng.
"No no, I didn't get fat. Li Song has been getting skinnier every day, making me look fatter in comparison." Hu Feng said.
"I'm still alright," Li Song took a step back and looked Jiang Cheng up and down, "Jiang Cheng you haven't changed at all, still so handsome."
"Nonsense," Pan Zhi said, "He didn't get voted school grass for nothing. After he left, they couldn't even pick a new grass."
The two girls hadn't said anything, just standing to the side watching them and laughing.
"Scram," Jiang Cheng said, "Let's go, get a taxi. Where's the hotel you booked? Let's drop off your stuff first, then go eat some supper."
"We booked a Home Inn, it should be close to you right? You said you didn't move far," Pan Zhi said.
"Yeah, very close," Jiang Cheng nodded, "After dropping off your stuff, call my...my friend and we can go eat together."
Jiang Cheng was about to say classmate, but ended up saying friend. Compared to classmate, when he couldn't say boyfriend, he preferred to say friend.
Classmate was too formal, friend was more personal.
The few people called two taxis and went straight to Home Inn.
Today's journey had been full of emotions. After getting emotional at the train station exit, Jiang Cheng got emotional again standing in front of Home Inn. Looking back and seeing Zhou Family Hostel across the street, he even felt a little dazed.
These things seemed to have faded from memory. Only when they were right in front of his eyes did he suddenly realize it had only been a few months since he and Gu Fei had that idiotic snowball fight on the street corner.
Yes, just a few months.
He smiled to himself. That idiot was already his boyfriend now.
After everyone dropped off their luggage in the rooms, they went back out. Li Yuqing and Xu Meng stood at the hotel entrance looking left and right. "Where are we going to eat supper?"
"Not far," Jiang Cheng called Gu Fei, "Just a short walk."
"Let's eat something local, are there any local specialty snacks around here?" Hu Feng said.
"Don't know, I'll ask in a bit." Jiang Cheng led them down the street. Gu Fei had picked up the call on the other end. For some reason, in less than an hour, hearing Gu Fei's voice made Jiang Cheng suddenly feel like he really missed him. What was wrong with him?
"Got them?" Gu Fei asked.
"Yeah, we're at Home Inn. We're coming over now," Jiang Cheng said, "Is Gu Miao there? Bring her along."
"She went back to sleep," Gu Fei said, "I'll just wait for you at the door."
"Okay." Jiang Cheng hung up.
When they got to Gu Fei's shop entrance, he had already closed the doors and was leaning against a lamp post at the door smoking.
"Huh?" Pan Zhi was surprised, "It's this guy?"
"Yeah," Jiang Cheng acknowledged, "What's up?"
"Nothing, just a bit surprised," Pan Zhi said in a low voice, "He doesn't look like someone who could hang out with you without beating each other to death."
"What kind of description is that." Jiang Cheng found it amusing. Pan Zhi really was a bro.
Hearing their conversation, Gu Fei turned his head. He put out his cigarette in the nearby trash can.
"My friend," Jiang Cheng introduced to the people behind him, "Gu Fei."
Saying "my friend" three times, Jiang Cheng suddenly felt a bit nervous. He felt like he might blurt out "my boyfriend Gu Fei" by mistake.
"Ah!" Xu Meng behind him let out a soft cry, grabbing Li Yuqing's arm and shaking it, "So handsome!"
Li Yuqing reacted very quickly, laughing and saying: "Jiang Cheng, is your friend single? Introduce him to Mengmeng!"
In your dreams!
Jiang Cheng instantly felt like a huge subtitle popped up in his mind and smashed towards Xu Meng. He didn't say anything, just looked at the two of them with a fake smile.
