Looking at Li Hui who was lying on the ground and still hadn't gotten up after a long time, looking at Li Hui's supposed backup who watched coldly without going over to help, Jiang Cheng suddenly didn't know what to do for a moment.
"Li Hui," Gu Fei spoke up, "Don't think I don't know what kind of person you are. Everyone who grew up here knows what kind of person you are. Consider this matter settled today, but you know in your heart whether or not your dad has that bank book and where that bank book is."
Li Hui covered his nose with his hand and moved his legs but didn't make a sound.
Gu Fei looked at the few people next to him, "I'll say it again, I grew up here, anyone who knows me knows that I never look for trouble with anyone first, but if anyone comes looking for trouble with me for no reason, I definitely won't take a loss."
The few people all laughed awkwardly. Gu Fei looked at one of them, "San Gou."
"Oh, I know, I know," the one called San Gou walked over, patted Gu Fei's shoulder, "This must be a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding!"
"Thank you all for giving me face." Gu Fei bent down to pick up the black rubber stick on the ground and wedged it on the side of the motorcycle.
San Gou beckoned with his hand and the few people hesitated for a moment before turning around to walk away with him. These so-called helpers Li Hui had called didn't even help him up at this moment.
Jiang Cheng was a little surprised to see Li Hui still lying on the ground. He suddenly felt a somewhat indescribable feeling.
This steel factory place, the people in this steel factory place, they were all hard to describe.
"Let's go," Gu Fei straddled the motorcycle, "Are you still going upstairs to get your books?"
"Yeah, I'll go up and get them," Jiang Cheng took another look at Li Hui and lowered his voice, "What about him?"
"He'll leave on his own later," Gu Fei said, "Didn't break any bones of his."
"Then wait for me for a bit." Jiang Cheng turned and strode into the building.
He ran upstairs, grabbed his packed bookbag, put the slingshot away in the drawer, then randomly pulled out a t-shirt from the closet and ran back downstairs.
When he came out again, Li Hui was no longer lying on the ground. Jiang Cheng looked ahead and saw Li Hui slowly crossing the street with a hunched back.
"Put this on." Jiang Cheng threw the t-shirt to Gu Fei.
"He won't come bother you again," Gu Fei said while putting on the shirt and glancing over in that direction, "He probably owes people money somewhere."
Jiang Cheng sighed.
"If he comes again, you still have to tell me, don't confront him directly," Gu Fei said again, "Don't get involved with people like him, don't let it affect your exam preparations and such."
"What about you then?" Jiang Cheng frowned.
"I know how to deal with people like him," Gu Fei smiled, "Don't worry."
Jiang Cheng didn't speak, just got on the backseat. After Gu Fei started the bike, he gently rubbed Gu Fei's waist, "Is this the only way to resolve these kinds of situations?"
"Yeah," Gu Fei replied, "What else? You don't even have a reason to call the cops, the cops can't get involved either. Reason with him? If he could reason, he wouldn't have come to find you in the first place. You can only beat people like him until they don't dare cause you trouble anymore."
"That's how you used to resolve things in the past too, right?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"Jiang Cheng," Gu Fei smiled and turned around to look at him after stopping the bike, "I know what you're thinking."
"Do you really?" Jiang Cheng looked back at him.
"If this was in the past," Gu Fei said, "every single person here just now, I wouldn't have let any of them off. Whoever came would've been done for, not a single one could have gotten away."
"Why didn't you today then?" Jiang Cheng smiled.
"Learning from the top student, learning from my boyfriend, not making my boyfriend worry," Gu Fei said.
Jiang Cheng didn't speak, just patted his back.
"Go eat breakfast?" Gu Fei started the bike again.
"Yeah," Jiang Cheng nodded, "My treat."
When Li Hui had called early in the morning, Jiang Cheng really couldn't think of any other solution besides beating him up.
If Gu Fei hadn't gotten physical, he would have faced the same situation when he went down to confront Li Hui himself.
Just like Gu Fei said, you don't even have a reason to call the cops, and you don't have the energy either, a high school senior busy with classes and exam preparations every day, when facing a scoundrel like Li Hui, it seemed there was no other way.
But looking at the back of Gu Fei's head now, even if Gu Fei was no longer like he was in the past, he would still feel uneasy.
No matter how much Gu Fei was "learning from his boyfriend", he was still alone. Other than him, most people here wouldn't learn from anyone, they wouldn't change.
He could leave this place, and he definitely would leave this place, but what about Gu Fei?
Gu Fei shielded him from the muck, and then what?
Jiang Cheng lowered his head, forehead against Gu Fei's back.
Yes, he still didn't know what to do right now. Gu Fei went from being full of hope to quietly closing his eyes and burying his hopes, and he didn't know what to do either.
But even so, he still couldn't help gritting his teeth.
Gu Fei must leave this place.
No matter how difficult, he must leave this place.
It wasn't that Gu Fei didn't have hopes, he had just buried his hopes.
Jiang Cheng was filled with determination and stirred up emotions when Gu Fei leaned back and nudged him from behind, he almost threw his head back and broke into song.
Come away with me! We'll set off at daybreak!
"Sit properly," Gu Fei turned his head, "There are No. 4 High School students up ahead."
"Oh," Jiang Cheng looked ahead and saw that the bike had already turned onto the street where they usually ate breakfast. There were quite a few people standing or sitting at the breakfast stall, "You can see that even without your glasses on?"
"I guessed." Gu Fei said.
Jiang Cheng laughed.
