Chapter 66 - Another One Comes

The ambulance, with its wailing siren, made its way back to the hospital almost as quickly as it had come, taking about ten minutes.

Su Kun and the other two got out of the vehicle and followed the medical staff as they pushed the stretcher, hurrying inside. They passed through the lobby and a long corridor, turned a corner, and arrived at the emergency room. They stopped and watched as the still unconscious Zhang Yi, whose breathing was growing weaker, was pushed through the door.

Until the door closed and the red light above it lit up, Su Kun still felt a bit dazed, standing blankly in front of the emergency room.

"Are you sleepwalking?" Geng Zimo gave him a strange look and said, "Why do you seem so out of it?"

Xiang Ge was about to go handle some procedures, but before he could take a step, he heard Geng Zimo's comment. He paused, turned around to look at Su Kun. He hadn't forgotten his responsibility to "take care of his friend's partner". If something really happened to Su Kun, he wouldn't be able to face Gu Yan. So, he walked back and glanced at Su Kun, asking Geng Zimo, "What's wrong?"

"Huh?" Su Kun was nudged by Geng Zimo's elbow before coming back to his senses. He scratched his head and said, "Oh, it's nothing... I was just thinking about some things from the past and got lost in thought."

"Are you sure you're okay?" Xiang Ge couldn't help but ask again.

Su Kun waved his hand, "Hey, it's fine, I'm right here with you guys, what could happen to me?"

After staring at Su Kun for a few seconds and making sure he really had no issues, Xiang Ge nodded, "Alright, I'll go take care of the procedures, you two... forget it, you should come with me."

Looking at the surroundings, he decided it was best to keep these two quails by his side at all times to avoid any problems.

This hospital had a long history and was quite famous, but the building was a bit old. Although it had been renovated, it still wasn't as bright and spacious as newer buildings, especially these winding corridors that looked dull and gray.

Boss Xiang, who once had an exceptionally firm scientific outlook, had now been completely led astray to the path of the supernatural, and even his way of thinking had taken on a hint of the paranormal.

Although he never liked reading novels, articles or posts about these things, he had more or less heard some snippets unintentionally, naturally knowing that hospitals were high-risk areas.

According to those rumors and jokes, it was like "while walking, you might suddenly find some little friends by your side". He wasn't afraid of anything, even Gu Yan said he had an exceptionally strong yang energy, and ordinary ghosts couldn't get close to him.

But who knew if Geng Zimo and Su Kun would be approached?

If in the short time he was away, one of these two unlucky quails got possessed or had their soul stolen, it would be troublesome.

Obviously, Su Kun and Geng Zimo also had a high level of self-awareness. Xiang Ge only waved at them from a few steps away, and they immediately followed.

Walking to the row of windows in the lobby, Xiang Ge took out his phone to make a call while standing in line. Fortunately, the process of handling procedures and making payments was quite fast here. Although there were many people in the lobby, the queue was always maintained at a not-too-long state.

Geng Zimo and Su Kun didn't go over to join the crowd, but stood to the side waiting for Xiang Ge.

Thinking of Su Kun's somewhat strange state just now, Geng Zimo couldn't help but ask, "You said earlier that you were thinking about things from the past?"

"Yeah."

Geng Zimo twitched the corner of his mouth as he looked at him, "Usually people make associations because they see something similar or related, right? What's so good about associating someone being possessed?"

Their voices weren't loud, and they weren't crowded together with others, so no one noticed their bizarre conversation.

However, Su Kun still subconsciously scanned left and right to make sure no one thought they were crazy before saying, "Hey, let me tell you, that's why I find it strange!"

Geng Zimo: "...You don't need to stress the word 'strange', thanks! If you have something to say, spit it out, why are you being so mysterious?!"

"Logically speaking, possession isn't common, right? But why do I feel like Zhang Yi's condition seems familiar?"

"..." Geng Zimo silently looked at him for a while, "You've been possessed before?"

"Get lost!"

"It's quite possible." Geng Zimo raised his chin and said with a smirk, "You have a special constitution, running into ghosts every time you walk at night. Getting possessed once or twice is not strange at all."

"But I feel like what's familiar is the state of that person lying there, unconscious and out of control of his body. If I was possessed myself, could I see myself lying there?" Su Kun gave him a sideways glance.

"It's very simple." Geng Zimo shrugged, "The soul and body are incompatible, so you float out and can see your own body."

Su Kun laughed hollowly a couple of times with a blank face, "Isn't that different? Being unconscious means the soul is still in the body. Only when there's no consciousness at all does it float out! And you guys couldn't see it, but when the ambulance arrived at the hospital, half of Zhang Yi's soul had already come out. When I saw that scene, I felt even more strange... it really felt like something I had seen before."

Seeing that he seemed quite serious, Geng Zimo thought for a moment and said, "Since what you saw was that kind of scene, it means it has nothing to do with you... maybe it's something you saw unintentionally when you were very young? And it may not necessarily be caused by possession, maybe it was someone on the verge of death. It should look similar, right?"

Hearing this, Su Kun once again tried to grasp that fleeting sense of familiarity from his mind, but he just couldn't capture it no matter what. However, he had a vague feeling in his subconscious that the scene he had seen before should not be a normal situation like being on the verge of death as Geng Zimo guessed. He always felt that it was the state after being possessed.

As for whether it had anything to do with himself...

Just as Su Kun thought of this question, he felt his pants pocket vibrate, and then his phone rang.

Startled, Su Kun quickly took out his phone. Seeing the caller, he immediately pressed the answer button, "Hello? Master, have you left yet?"

"What do you mean left? This old man has already arrived!" The master's vigorous voice came from the receiver.

"What?!" Su Kun felt like a group of expressionless kids had just whooshed through his mind. In a daze, he took the phone away from his ear, glanced at the time displayed on it, then silently put the phone back: "Holy shit, it takes nearly three hours by high-speed rail from Min City to H City, and you arrived in fifteen minutes?!" Σ(っ°Д°;)っ

The master snorted smugly: "Although my Pomegranate is usually lazy, when there's an emergency, it can still fly pretty fast."

"Where are you?"

"First floor lobby." The master said calmly: "Ah, I see you."

Su Kun instinctively lowered his head, searching from a lower vantage point: "..."

The master roared: "What do you mean by lowering your head?! I'm just a bit short, not a dwarf, okay?!"

Su Kun twitched the corner of his mouth: "Where are you? I didn't find you even when I lowered my head."

"I'm right in front of you." The master said irritably.

"I can't see you!"

The master raised his hand and smacked him, then said: "The invisibility talisman on me is still in effect, of course you can't see me!"

Rubbing the spot on his back where he was hit, Su Kun thought to himself: If you can only reach that spot when raising your hand, what's wrong with me lowering my head to look for you? ﹁_﹁

Just as he was thinking this, the call was hung up. Then the master's voice sounded right next to Su Kun's right arm: "Where's the employee who just got into trouble?"

"Emergency room." Su Kun said, looking at Geng Zimo.

Geng Zimo: "..."

After a moment of silence, the master jumped up and down, lowering his voice: "If you sent him to the emergency room, how can I save him?!"

Su Kun: "..." He had forgotten about that.

"Forget it, where's the emergency room? I'll go there first and take a look, lest his soul leaves his body before he's out of the emergency room. The more it dissipates, the harder it will be for me to bring him back."

Su Kun continued looking at Geng Zimo: "Go straight down the corridor ahead, then turn left at the end."

Geng Zimo: "..." The master's voice was lowered to almost a whisper. Even standing right next to them, he couldn't hear clearly, let alone the others who were further away. In their eyes, Su Kun was basically talking to himself... =_=

He had already noticed a few people sneaking glances at Su Kun, then silently moving a couple steps away.

Su Kun was completely unaware that he had been mistaken for a suspected mentally ill patient. Hearing the master bid him farewell, then no more movement, he figured the master had already gone to the emergency room. He looked up, about to see if Xiang Ge had finished the paperwork, when he saw Geng Zimo turning his face away with an agonized expression.

"What are you doing—holy shit!" Just as Su Kun was about to ask Geng Zimo why he looked like that, he was startled by something popping out from the corner of the wall five steps away.

Geng Zimo silently raised a hand to cover half his face, trying to move towards Xiang Ge who was standing at the window paying the fees. But he had only taken one step when he was startled stiff by Su Kun's shout. Before he could continue walking, two claws grabbed his arm tightly.

"What's wrong with you now?" Geng Zimo, having failed to act like a passerby, turned his head expressionlessly and pinched Su Kun's fingers. "Take your claws off."

"There's a ghost from who knows what era in the corner..." Su Kun said in a low voice through gritted teeth, without moving his lips.

Geng Zimo: "What?"

Su Kun twitched the corner of his mouth. Realizing it was a pain to talk while letting the wind through, he turned his head stiffly and repeated the last two words: "A ghost."

Geng Zimo took a second to process, then also lowered his voice: "...Then why are you grabbing me?! Run!"

Perhaps it was because Geng Zimo's tone was a bit heavy at the end, attracting the ghost's attention. Su Kun only saw the woman in the tattered gauze dress, with a snow-white face, standing dazedly in the corner for a while, then slowly turning her face towards them.

Oh my god! ~~~~~~QAQ

As Su Kun's eyes met those oversized black pupils, his legs went weak. His old problem acted up again, and he slowly slid down Geng Zimo...
