Raising the Evil Spirit

Raising the Evil Spirit

Chapter 31 - First Update

"Watch out!!!" Su Kun shouted.

In a moment of urgency, he instinctively reached out his hand with a speed that surprised even himself when he thought back on it later. He was a step faster than the little ghost, grabbing Zhang Fuquan's shoulders and forcefully flinging him to the side.

Caught off guard, Zhang Fuquan was shoved by Su Kun and tumbled into the greenery, getting scratched all over by the branches and twigs, nearly stabbing his eyes, but his life was spared.

Of course, he had no idea that the Grim Reaper had just passed him by. He couldn't see the little ghost at all, so he couldn't understand Su Kun's actions. He only felt extremely disheveled.

He struggled to sit up from the greenery, fuming with anger. Just as he was about to question what exactly Su Kun was trying to do, his opened mouth never closed again - he saw Su Kun stagger and lunge towards the middle of the road in a reverse bow-like posture.

But that posture didn't look at all like he had rushed over on his own, more like he had been pushed from behind.

Su Kun was indeed unlucky. He had just flung Zhang Fuquan to the side, and before he could put down the big rock weighing on his heart, he felt something fiercely slam into his back, stunning him with a momentary illusion of heart paralysis and suffocation.

And immediately after, that dull pain sensation quickly shifted inside his body, moving from his back to his chest, just like how he felt when Gu Yan passed through his body before!

He almost immediately realized what was going on - that infant spirit was supposed to rush over and hit Zhang Fuquan, but it hit him instead. Although it still passed through his body in the end, the impact force was still immense.

But by the time he understood, his entire body had already been knocked onto the road.

Holy shit! That infant spirit that couldn't brake, fuck, fuck, fuck~~~~

He heard the speeding car screech to a halt, the tires making a sharp sound on the ground due to the sudden increased pressure. The two headlights in front of the car shone so brightly that his eyes were dazzled and he couldn't see anything clearly.

He could almost feel the instant when the car's momentum crashed into him, the heated temperature when the front of the car touched the sleeve of his cotton T-shirt.

His whole heart felt like it was being fiercely gripped by an invisible iron claw, contracting to the point of being unable to breathe, accompanied by an icy chill. He felt like the Grim Reaper was swinging a huge scythe with a cold, frosty blade, chopping down fiercely, the blade edge already touching his neck.

I'm going to die.

In the instant before he closed his eyes, his thoughts were strangely in an extremely calm state. His mind was like a black background screen, scrolling with two sentences:

That infant spirit is not a living person, I can't kill him again, what a pity.

When I become a ghost, the first thing I'll do is float back home and say to that eternally deadpan Gu Yan: Guess what, I'm dead too. Oh, his expression will definitely be priceless!

Just as one side of his body was about to fully make contact with the metal front of the car, Su Kun felt his two hands that were lunging forward being grabbed by something cool. Before he could react, he felt his wrists tighten, and his entire body was pulled forward by an extremely large force, using his own momentum.

The front of the car rubbed past the side of his body, the protruding car logo scraping him, burning like fire. His eyes hadn't opened yet, and his hands had already subconsciously reached out to support himself on the ground.

But to his surprise, when he landed, what he touched was not the rough ground that had been baked by the sun all day and still had some residual heat, but another thing that was moderately hard and soft, and had a startling coolness...

What the hell is this?!

Su Kun's head crashed into it, his entire body buried in that icy breath. After being dumbfounded for a moment, he struggled to use his still numb and tingling arms to half prop himself up and opened his eyes.

It turned out that the thing cushioning him from below was not something else, but a man... oh no, to be precise, it was a male ghost. This person's outline was very close to that of a normal person, just a bit more ethereal, as if his transparency had been adjusted to 98%.

Even though he was lying down, it could be seen that he had a very tall stature. Su Kun was sprawled on top of him and felt that he was a whole size smaller than him. The first thing he saw was the man's somewhat tattered and worn out clothes, with large patches of bloodstains on the dusty base color, his well-defined pecs peeking out from the torn neckline.

Su Kun: "..." Seeing these somewhat familiar clothes, he vaguely felt a not-so-good premonition rising.

His gaze slowly moved up, passing the man's chiseled neck and protruding Adam's apple, then his lips that were habitually pursed into a line at all times, his cheeks were quite gaunt, the lines on both sides were knife-carved, paired with a straight nose bridge, making his face exceptionally three-dimensional.

Su Kun's little heart trembled, twitching the corners of his mouth as he raised his eyes and met the man's gaze head-on.

"Hehehe." Su Kun gave a dry laugh, his mind a bit unable to process as he raised a paw and waved: "Hey~ why are you here."

No, that's not the point...

"Aren't you supposed to be three inches tall, how did you suddenly get so big..." Su Kun muttered dumbly.

As if to match him, the tall male ghost beneath him rapidly shrank back the moment he finished speaking, like a deflated ball, in the blink of an eye returning to his usual deadpan little ghost appearance.

Suddenly losing a layer of cushioning, Su Kun only felt an emptiness beneath him. With a plop, he completely collapsed to the ground, pressing down on the little ghost whose transparency had returned to 60%.

Before he could prop himself up again, he felt the little ghost's icy cold body sink into his chest and abdomen, and then Su Kun once again experienced that car sickness-like feeling of having his internal organs stirred, making him want to vomit.

Su Kun: "..." It's here again! Why didn't I directly slap this little ghost to death, ahhh - ugh!

When Su Kun really couldn't hold back the urge to vomit, he felt that stirring, dizzying, nauseous feeling lessen, and something drilled out from behind his back. This experience was so bizarre that it was hard to describe, so Su Kun only resentfully looked back and weakly glared at the little ghost who used his body like a wall: "Ancestor, can you wait for me to get up before moving next time..."

Who knew, Gu Yan who emerged from behind Su Kun didn't turn around. Instead, he faced the roadside where Su Kun had tumbled out, slowly scanning left and right as if searching for something, while uttering two words in a deep voice: "Shortcut."

He wasn't clear about Su Kun's feelings, because for him, whether passing through walls or through Su Kun, there wasn't much difference except for a slight feeling of resistance with the latter. So he assumed Su Kun wouldn't feel much discomfort either.

Su Kun, who had been silently glaring at his back, held back for a long time before saying: "Damn it!"

Just as he thought about it, feeling dissatisfied and wanting to say something more, Gu Yan, who was floating in midair with his back to him, suddenly tensed up, as if he had discovered something. His figure flickered and vanished from view.

"Hey you--"

"What's wrong with you?! If you want to commit suicide, isn't lying on the tracks more guaranteed! Why did you come here to harm others! Are you crazy?" The car owner, who had been scared stiff in the car for quite a while, tremblingly got out of the car to see if the person was dead.

After all, in that instant just now, he really felt that his car had hit this person, just not directly, but who knows how seriously he was injured. As a result, he saw that although Su Kun had fallen to the ground, he still had the strength to speak.

There was quite a bit of blood on his body, but from what he could see, it was all caused by scrapes on his arms and legs. His anger immediately rose.

Su Kun was stunned by the shouting. He withdrew his gaze from where Gu Yan had disappeared and blinked as he looked up at the car owner for a few seconds before remembering that he had almost been hit.

Seeing his dazed look, the car owner thought he was deliberately playing dumb and became even angrier. He picked up his phone and angrily pressed three numbers. While waiting for the call to connect, he pointed at Su Kun and said, "Fuck! Don't think about extorting me. I'm telling you, there's no way. There are cameras here, and my speed was completely within the limit. Don't even think about it-- Hello? Is this the emergency center..."

Although his tone remained unpleasant, the car owner was clearly under the impression that Su Kun had done it on purpose and got furious when provoked. He himself seemed to be a pretty honest person.

After dialing 120 and explaining the incident and location, he angrily rushed over to check Su Kun's injuries while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

Su Kun had no choice but to admit defeat and not respond to his muttering. After all, if he tried to explain the reason, the car owner would definitely think he was truly crazy.

Zhang Fuquan, who had been sitting in the green belt in a state of shock, finally recovered from his astonishment. He got up, brushed the dirt off his body, and limped over with a strange expression on his face, a mix of surprise and a hint of hidden fear.

He quickly squatted down beside Su Kun and asked, "Xiao Su, how are you feeling?" while shrinking his neck and subconsciously glancing at the vast darkness on both sides.

In fact, Su Kun wasn't seriously injured. The only troublesome thing was that when Gu Yan pulled him out, besides scraping and bruising one side of his body, his ankle was hit hard by the front of the car and was likely badly sprained.

When he later hit the ground, it was jolted again. At this point, he couldn't exert any strength. Sitting up was fine, but standing would be difficult. He waved his uninjured hand and said, "It's not a big deal. Boss Zhang, what about you? I pushed you a bit too hard just now."

Zhang Fuquan touched the few cuts on his face from the low branches and shook his head. "Just some scrapes, nothing serious."

As he spoke, he glanced to the side. The car owner, after confirming that Su Kun was okay, angrily walked to the side of the car, leaned against the door, and smoked to vent his anger, not looking in their direction.

So Zhang Fuquan swallowed and lowered his voice to Su Kun, "Xiao Su, did you... did you see something earlier?"
