Pei Ran was stunned for a moment; he had forgotten about this himself.
Lin Xuhuan tried hard to recall, then took a deep breath, his face full of emotion: "This, this seems to be from when I had just finished my Youth Training and was still a substitute... Baby Ran, so you've been hiding this deep."
Pei Ran said: "It's not..."
Before he could finish, someone lightly brushed past his shoulder.
Yan Zhun walked up to Lin Xuhuan and took the phone from his hand: "Don't go through other people's phones."
Lin Xuhuan felt wronged: "It's not like I did it on purpose. I didn't know he took a few photos of me, I just swiped over to them."
Yan Zhun ignored him and handed the phone to Pei Ran.
Pei Ran reached out to take it, but the other's grip was a bit strong, and he surprisingly couldn't take it back at once.
Yan Zhun lowered his eyes, glanced at the photo a couple more times before letting go.
Learning that Pei Ran was his die-hard fan, Lin Xuhuan couldn't help but straighten his back, running a hand through his hair to style it: "Baby Ran, from now on, don't look for my brother to play with you. Just come find me directly, I'll carry you for free. I'll even bring you along when I stream."
Pei Ran thought about how to explain. The fact that he took commercial commissions online was a secret; he hadn't told anyone. That Weibo account was like a secret online persona for him.
"Alright." The Coach suddenly spoke up. "Go play the training match first. The room over there is already set up. Hurry up. We're playing custom matches today. I've scheduled a few teams."
Yan Zhun said flatly: "If you've scheduled other teams, I won't participate."
"No, we also included our Youth Training Team, and I saved a spot specifically for you." The Coach came over and put an arm around his shoulder. "Those three kids are the ones I have the highest hopes for. You can check them out for me."
Yan Zhun said: "It's been so long since I've trained, I can't."
"Don't give me that nonsense. I know full well whether you can do it or not. Come on, do me a favor. I told them you were coming, and they all trained for an extra two hours last night..." The Coach picked up his phone and looked at it. "They're all rushing me. Quick, quick, quick, don't let the other teams wait for you."
Before rushing to the match room, Lin Xuhuan left Pei Ran with a "Baby Ran, I'll send you a set of signed peripherals later," and was then pushed away by his teammates before Pei Ran could reply.
Yan Zhun was led forward a few steps by the Coach with an arm around his shoulder, when he suddenly turned back: "Can you wait for me?"
Pei Ran had originally planned to take his laptop back to the dorm and then go see a movie. He had already picked the film, one with profound realistic meaning that had received excellent reviews in its first two days. Pei Ran was very tempted.
Yan Zhun was silent for two seconds, then said: "It won't be too long."
Pei Ran canceled his movie plan in his mind and put his phone back in his pocket: "...Got it. Good luck with the training match."
With several large question marks hanging over his head, the Coach chummily slung his arm around Yan Zhun's shoulder. After walking some distance, he asked: "What's the situation? Is he by any chance related to you?"
"No," Yan Zhun said. "Help me look after him."
"Got it. It's not like he's going to run away." Arriving at the door of the match room, the Coach patted his shoulder. "Play well."
Pei Ran was taken to a lounge. In the room was a large screen that could be used for data analysis or for spectating matches.
A few bottles of different brands of drinks and some cookies were placed in front of him.
The Coach said with a smile: "I don't know what you like to eat, so I got a bit of everything. These brats just love to drink soda."
Pei Ran said his thanks and picked up a bottle of mineral water.
The Coach fiddled with the remote control for a while, and the screen lit up, displaying the PUBG game screen.
After the two TZG Team squads parachuted, the Coach took out a notebook, ready to pick out the players' flaws at any moment.
There were two match rooms in the Base. One of them was bustling with excitement. If not for the good soundproofing, the noise would have reached the other team of Youth Trainees wearing headsets next door.
"Where will my brother and them jump?" Lin Xuhuan chirped.
"Who knows? But the Youth Training Team usually plays conservatively, probably in some scattered, unlooted areas."
When playing casually, good players like to drop in places where they can fight immediately. But competitions are different. Almost every unlooted area in the center of the circle will have a team landing there, and you'll run into them if you're not careful.
Lin Xuhuan glanced at the map and prepared to fly towards the small unlooted area marked by the commander, when a notification suddenly popped up on the interface.
[TZGmoxie knocked down XPP-hot with an AKM]
[TZGmoxie knocked down XPP-youxiang with an AKM headshot]

The match room fell silent for a moment.
After landing, a teammate asked: "The account Moxie is..."
"Yeah... it's Yan Zhun playing." Lin Xuhuan frowned as he looted an area. "Fuck, my brother's insane. I haven't even landed and he's already run into two teams... They must have jumped at the airport."
By the time Lin Xuhuan finished looting one area, Yan Zhun had already eliminated six people. He had pretty much single-handedly wiped out the two teams at the airport.
"A beast, an absolute beast," Lin Xuhuan exclaimed. "As expected of my brother."
By the semi-final circle, there were only six teams left. To be precise, five teams and one person.
The three members of TZG's Youth Training Team had long since been eliminated, leaving only Yan Zhun by himself.
He found a group of houses and crouched in a corner, holding the angle while using meds.
"Bro~ Bro~ Is that you, bro~" Lin Xuhuan turned on all-chat, and his voice transmitted into Yan Zhun's headset.
Lin Xuhuan had watched Yan Zhun enter this area. He was alone, and he was wearing Moxie's cosmetic skin, so he recognized him at a glance.
Lin Xuhuan took a few sniper shots but couldn't kill him, so he simply brought his teammate down to corner him.
Yan Zhun ignored him and started to look for their positions.
There were only two people on Lin Xuhuan's side; the other two were still in an area behind them.
"Should we wait for them to get here before pushing the building?" his teammate said.
"It's fine," Lin Xuhuan said. "It's two against one, we should be able to win. Besides, my brother and I are close, he'll definitely go easy on me."
Two minutes later, both of them were knocked down by Yan Zhun outside the building, kneeling wretchedly.
Without a word, Yan Zhun finished them off and turned to leave.
"Bro." Since he was dead anyway, Lin Xuhuan had nothing better to do, so he opened his mic to chat with him. "You just mercilessly knocked down your little fan who's liked you for so many years. So cruel, so savage, I love it..."
Before Lin Xuhuan could finish speaking, a fresh grenade bounced twice on the ground and rolled unerringly to his not-yet-disappeared "corpse".
With a bang, his game character, lying flat on the ground, was blasted and flipped over.
Lin Xuhuan: "..."
His teammate said: "You guys sure are close. Any closer and he'd be fighting you in real life."
In the second game, his teammates wanted some action and jumped at the airport. Lin Xuhuan was knocked down by Yan Zhun less than two minutes after landing. Yan Zhun didn't finish him, just tossed a grenade in his face and turned to leave, not even glancing at the explosion behind him.
In the third game, Lin Xuhuan was knocked down by another team. He quickly crawled behind a house, and just as he was about to be revived by a teammate, with a bang—Yan Zhun took his head from a distance with a single shot from a 98k.
Fourth game...
Fifth game...
When the training match ended, Lin Xuhuan ripped off his headset and charged next door.
"Bro, why do you always target me! You even fucking desecrated my corpse..." Lin Xuhuan said, "There were three of us and you still rushed up to get me!!!"
The most infuriating part was that the three of them together couldn't beat Yan Zhun; he took out two of them with a single grenade.
Yan Zhun took off his headset and stood up under the nervous yet adoring gazes of the Youth Trainees.
"The skin," he said.
Lin Xuhuan: "?"
"The cosmetic skin you're wearing is too ugly."
Lin Xuhuan: "..."
Yan Zhun didn't bother with him anymore, turning and leaving the match room to head for the review room.
This was the first time Pei Ran had watched a PUBG match.
Training matches were much more casual than official ones, and also more exciting. The Coach spent most of the time watching from Yan Zhun's perspective.
The door was pushed open, and Yan Zhun walked in with a calm expression.
"Zero mistakes again today. Beautiful," the Coach praised without reservation.
"Why are you watching my perspective instead of your own players?" Yan Zhun sat down next to Pei Ran.
"I wanted to watch the players, but unfortunately those Youth Trainees died too quickly." The Coach muttered under his breath, "I feel like they're still lacking something..."
Yan Zhun didn't respond. He lowered his eyes and saw Pei Ran clutching a bottle of mineral water with both hands.
Sensing his gaze, Pei Ran nudged the water bottle towards him: "Want some? It hasn't been opened."
Yan Zhun took it but didn't rush to open it. He asked: "Did you watch the training match?"
"I did." Pei Ran paused. "You're very good."
This perfunctory compliment clearly didn't satisfy Yan Zhun. He pursed his lips, twisted open the bottle, and took a sip.
