After lunch was nap time. Of course, under normal circumstances, this specifically referred to Su Duan's nap time alone, because with enough energy, Qin Zhi generally wouldn't spend his afternoon time sleeping.
But today was different.
When Su Duan came to ask him, yawning and with teary eyes, if he wanted to take a nap together, Qin Zhi suddenly found the documents in his hands becoming exceptionally uninteresting.
Su Duan's biological clock had been trained to be very punctual. If he didn't eat at the fixed time, he would quickly get a stomach ache. When it was time to sleep, he would conscientiously feel sleepy. If he didn't sleep, he would feel listless the whole day.
Su Duan had a very fulfilling morning, busily helping him fetch small things back and forth, anyway he wasn't idle. Perhaps he was a bit tired. Today, as soon as nap time arrived, he seemed even sleepier than he had been recently. After yawning, tears even glistened in the corners of his eyes.
Qin Zhi's heart stirred. Using his fingertips, he gently wiped away the bit of wetness from the corners of Su Duan's eyes.
Su Duan looked at him with dazed black eyes, his cheeks pressed against Qin Zhi's palm. Even when his face was touched, he didn't know to dodge, only feeling that Qin Zhi's hand was much hotter than his own face, and large.
After Qin Zhi moved his hand away, Su Duan also followed and touched the corners of his own eyes, softly explaining: "Too sleepy."
He felt that human tears were very strange. They flowed when sad, they could also well up when happy, and even when sleepy a few drops could be squeezed out.
Qin Zhi savored the tender feeling he had just touched with his palm, feeling that yesterday's fire had been vented in vain.
Yesterday, when Su Duan's slender fingertips roamed all over his body during that examination, it was like opening the floodgates in the depths of his heart that were not very sturdy to begin with. The beast broke free from its chains and began eagerly wanting to bring its long-eyed prey back to its den, wash it clean, and carefully taste it from top to bottom.
Qin Zhi: "......" What was he thinking about now?
In any case, no matter what, today's afternoon work definitely could not proceed. With his mind full of junk, Secretary Qin pushed the documents aside and agreed to his boss's co-sleeping invitation.
"Okay." Qin Zhi reached out to grasp the knot of his tie, loosening the neatly tied tie. "I'll go put the sofa down."
Su Duan: "Mm-hmm."
This chairman's office was originally used by Su Zheng. It was very apparent that Chairman Su was someone who knew how to enjoy life. Not only did he set up a small coffee station in the corner of the office, even the sofa could be put down to sleep on, allowing the people in the office to have a short and comfortable rest on it.
Qin Zhi pulled off his tie and casually draped it over the back of the chair. Then he walked over to the sofa by the floor-to-ceiling window, bent over and reached out to feel for the clasp hidden between the gaps of the sofa base and backrest. With a click, the sofa backrest was smoothly put down and perfectly joined with the base. In the blink of an eye, it turned into a large bed that could easily accommodate two grown men.
After arranging the cushions that could be used as pillows and spreading out the thin blanket placed to the side, Qin Zhi turned his head and called Su Duan: "Duan Duan, come sleep."
As a result, he saw Su Duan holding his gray tie, obediently watching him from behind.
Su Duan raised the tie in his hand and handed it to him, explaining: "It fell on the floor."
"Thank you, Duan Duan." Qin Zhi paused for a moment, then reached out to take the tie knot, casually placing it on the sofa armrest, and said: "Come sleep quickly."
Su Duan obediently took off his own shoes and lay down on the inner side of the sofa, curling up entirely under the thin blanket with only his round little head exposed.
After confirming that the door and windows were all locked tightly and hanging a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door, Qin Zhi unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt and quickly climbed onto the sofa as well.
But as soon as he lay down, he discovered a problem.
Although the sofa was wide enough after the backrest was put down, and there was no problem at all with him and Su Duan lying on it, Su Duan's blanket was a single one and couldn't cover two people at all.
Su Duan still hadn't realized this problem, staring at Qin Zhi with slightly frozen black eyes, not knowing what he was thinking.
Actually, he was a bit nervous.
After coming to this world, he had never slept in the same bed with someone else before.
Although he didn't have any particular feelings when he invited Qin Zhi to sleep together just now, when Qin Zhi really lay down beside him, Su Duan realized that he still felt a bit unaccustomed to this.
So he couldn't help shrinking inward, leaving a gap between him and Qin Zhi.
Seeing him like this, Qin Zhi understood clearly.
Secretary Qin sighed helplessly in his heart. His little young master was really too good at tormenting people. Even though he had taken the initiative to invite him, now he suddenly began feeling nervous on his own, without any self-awareness at all.
Telling himself that he mustn't be too impatient and scare away the prey that lacked self-awareness but was not very bold, Qin Zhi pushed the blanket that was only half-covering his body entirely onto Su Duan. "Be good, cover yourself properly."
Only then did Su Duan react, realizing that the blanket was not enough. With him and Qin Zhi so far apart, if one person wanted to be fully covered, the other could at most only cover half his body.
But if they squeezed together, it should still be barely enough.
Su Duan hesitated for a few dozen seconds before finally making up his mind: "Come a bit closer, let's squeeze together."
If he slept without a blanket, he would easily catch a cold—anyway, that's how it always was for him.
He was the one who told Qin Zhi to come sleep, but now he wasn't even letting him cover with the blanket, that would be a bit too mean.
This wouldn't do.
Su Duan firmed his resolve. Seeing that Qin Zhi still wasn't moving, he couldn't help urging: "Hurry and come over."
Qin Zhi's Adam's apple bobbed. A sigh-like sound escaped his throat: "...Okay."
The prey always raised its little head and snuggled up to him, but he couldn't simply roughly snatch it away.
If this continued, he couldn't help worrying if he would develop a problem from holding it in one day.
The body that had undergone systematic exercise was far stronger and broader than Su Duan's. When it covered him, it brought a warmth and dominance, making Su Duan feel like his entire being was enveloped by that indescribable aura emanating from Qin Zhi's body.
Su Duan stiffened his neck. His reflex was to still want to use his little leaves to cover his head and shrink back, but he forgot that he had already retreated to the innermost side, his back against the cold floor-to-ceiling glass window, unable to move at all.
Qin Zhi reached out a hand to grasp his shoulder and softly said by his ear: "Don't move." Although the glass windows of the Su company definitely wouldn't shatter from such a slight tremor, Qin Zhi still felt his heart pounding.
Su Duan realized he had nowhere to run and couldn't help but swallow nervously.
Qin Zhi blocked his back and pulled him closer, softly coaxing, "It's cold by the glass behind you, come a little closer."
Su Duan reflexively pressed a hand against Qin Zhi's shoulder, but lacking strength, he was still easily pulled into the other's embrace.
Qin Zhi didn't let go, patting Su Duan's back lightly, "Go to sleep soon, you'll feel unwell if you sleep too late."
With his head resting on Qin Zhi's shoulder, perhaps soothed by the gentle patting on his back or the low voice, although being enveloped by another person's presence still made him feel a bit panicked, Su Duan gradually relaxed within a few minutes as his consciousness grew hazy under the influence of his biological clock.
Feeling the person in his arms slowly evening out his breathing, Qin Zhi's patting motions also gradually stopped, but his hand remained on that back so thin he could easily feel the bones, reluctant to withdraw.
Although holding the soft young master with warm sunlight shining on his head created an extremely comfortable and leisurely atmosphere, Qin Zhi didn't feel sleepy at all due to the restlessness he couldn't quell inside.
He even had an uncontrollable urge to smoke a cigarette.
His smoking addiction wasn't strong; he only smoked one or two when under immense stress or when missing his young master.
But perhaps because he had recently started quitting and reached the most difficult withdrawal period, once the desire to smoke arose, it rapidly snowballed, expanding until he nearly sank into anxiety.
Qin Zhi exhaled, lowering his head to bury his face in Su Duan's clean, soft black hair. Like an addict drinking poison to quench his thirst, he inhaled deeply, almost greedily, the faint scent of medicinal herbs with a tinge of bitterness.
