Death Progress Bar

Death Progress Bar

Chapter 83 - Date (Part 2)

Under the nervous gaze of Lian Jun, Shi Jin pulled out...a white T-shirt.

"What is this?" Lian Jun's nervousness disappeared, replaced by confusion.

"This is the shirt I bought for you last time when I went out with Number Two. Don't you remember?" Shi Jin happily shook out the shirt and pointed to the corner, saying, "Look here, there's a 'Jun' character. I bought it for you because of that."

Lian Jun followed his finger and indeed saw a small black embroidered character on the hem of the T-shirt. "The salesperson said that the font on this clothing was designed by a famous calligrapher and exclusively authorized. The characters were also hand-embroidered using Gu embroidery, which is rarely used nowadays...I didn't really understand it, but it's definitely rare. This 'Chinese Studies' series of clothing is limited to only 72 pieces worldwide, and there are only two pieces embroidered with the character 'Jun'. I bought them all." Shi Jin explained as he reached into his bag and pulled out a white T-shirt.

As he listened to his explanation and looked at the clothing in his hand, Lian Jun's expression softened. He couldn't help but tease him, "Didn't you say you only bought one piece of clothing for me? How come there are two now? You lied to me."

"I'm not lying to you," Shi Jin shook his head and compared the T-shirt he had just taken out to his own body. "This one is for me, so these two clothes are one for you and one for me. They happen to make a set of couple outfits."

Lian Jun was stunned again and repeated, "Couple outfits?"

"Yes, couple outfits," Shi Jin replied, putting the two clothes on his lap and leaning forward to pat the back of the car seat, gesturing for Lian Jun to raise the partition. He reached out to touch Lian Jun's collar and said with a smile, "Today is not over yet, so let's change our clothes and continue our date!"

......

The car sped all the way towards the suburbs of B city. Not only did Shi Jin prepare clothes for Lian Jun, but he also prepared new pants and shoes for him, all of which were couple outfits. By the time the car stopped at the destination, Lian Jun had already changed out of his robe and into the "couple outfit" that Shi Jin had prepared for him, and he even put on a pair of glasses. Shi Jin also changed into new clothes and stuffed his old clothes into a bag.

Although both of them were wearing white T-shirts, the styles were quite different. The white T-shirt on Lian Jun was designed to be more fitted, with only subtle patterns on the fabric and the embroidered black character "Jun" on the hem, giving a simple and restrained look. On the other hand, Shi Jin's white T-shirt was loose-fitting, also embroidered with the character "Jun", but in red and with a different font. It was very bold and eye-catching, embroidered on the left chest to shoulder area, giving the impression of a flame igniting from the chest, exuding a vibrant and energetic feeling, very flamboyant.

Two pieces of clothing looked different when held separately, but when worn together, they harmonized perfectly, revealing that they were created by the same designer.

Due to his appearance and demeanor, Lian Jun often gave off an impression of being difficult to approach and somewhat oppressive. However, when he put on these understated clothes and donned his glasses to soften his gaze, he immediately appeared refined and elegant. His slim figure added a touch of restraint and sophistication to his overall demeanor.

In short, he was very alluring. "Perfect, now it doesn't look like a triad at all," said Shi Jin as he slowly backed away, his voice dry. For the first time, he realized something very clear - even if it was just based on looks, he would definitely like Lian Jun.

Who wouldn't like someone so perfect and good-looking?

Seeing Shi Jin's stiff expression and hearing his "forced" tone, Lian Jun misunderstood him in an instant. He glanced at the very handsome white T-shirt Shi Jin was wearing and then touched his own thin wrist, asking with little confidence, "Does it look bad?"

Thin people can't fill out their clothes properly. Normally, he wore robes that were very forgiving of his figure and could cover up any flaws. But now that he had changed into regular clothes, all his physical imperfections were exposed. He was just an ordinary person, but he instinctively wanted to look good in the eyes of his lover.

When Shi Jin heard this, he came back to his senses and looked up and down at Lian Jun. Surprisingly, he nodded in agreement and said, "Yeah, it does."

Lian Jun's finger trembled slightly, and he lowered his gaze. He unconsciously wanted to tug at his clothes and suggest changing back into his old outfit. But then he noticed Shi Jin suddenly leaning in and taking off his glasses from his nose.

"This glasses are too ugly and don't suit you at all. Your eyes are so beautiful, it's better to show them off," Shi Jin threw the glasses away and held Lian Jun's face to examine it closely. He leaned in and gave him a kiss, saying, "Now you look perfect. Even a simple T-shirt looks so good on you. No wonder you're my boyfriend!"

At first, Lian Jun was stunned, but then he was amused by his exaggerated performance. Seeing the genuine liking in his eyes, Lian Jun hugged him back and said, "It's good that you like me."

"I definitely do!" Shi Jin kissed him again and then stepped back, holding onto the car door handle. "Alright, time is running out. Let's go on our date."

Following his movements, Lian Jun looked outside the car and saw that it was pitch black with no streetlights. He could vaguely make out a small forest not far from the car. He furrowed his brows and asked, "Where are we?"

"You'll find out soon enough." Shi Jin got out of the car and took out the wheelchair to help Lian Jun out. He sprayed mosquito repellent on him and said goodbye to the driver before pushing him straight into the small forest.

They followed a small path through the woods towards an unknown destination. The forest was darker inside than outside due to the moonlight being blocked by the trees. Lian Jun furrowed his brows and used his flashlight to observe the surroundings, wanting to remind Shi Jin to be careful. However, before he could speak, Shi Jin interrupted him.

"We're almost there, don't blink," Shi Jin's voice was filled with restrained excitement and anticipation. He suddenly picked up the pace, almost pushing Lian Jun as they turned the corner and ran out of the forest. They arrived at a primitive wooden gate designed like a cartoon and slowly came to a stop in an open area resembling a square. Shi Jin pulled out a whistle from somewhere and blew it twice.

Whoo-Whoo-

The whistle pierced through the night and echoed faintly in the distance. With his sharp ears, Lian Jun heard a faint sound of rushing water as he followed the whistle ahead. The sound grew louder and louder until suddenly, with a loud whoosh, several thick streams of water shot out of the ground, illuminated by lights, and exploded in mid-air, forming a colorful water curtain that slowly fell back to the ground and flowed back to its source.

Boom, boom, boom.

Lights from a circular wooden door behind them lit up rapidly, and cheerful music filled the air. The small square was now completely illuminated, and the two of them stood at the entrance, becoming the only audience to this beautiful scene. Shi Jin blew his whistle and looked at the music fountain in front of him, which was seven or eight meters high with layers of water spraying in rhythm. He couldn't help but bend down and grab Lian Jun's shoulder, exclaiming, "Isn't it beautiful? I purposely chose this as our first stop. Do you like it?"

Lian Jun snapped out of his surprise and turned to Shi Jin, asking, "Did you prepare all of this?"

"Yeah, it's our first date, so of course we should have some fun," Shi Jin nodded. He saw a black figure moving towards them from the square and quickly stood up, waving his hand in that direction. Then he bent down to help Lian Jun and said, "It's still too hot outside. Let's take the sightseeing car. It's cool inside."

As he stood up, following the force, Lian Jun saw the approaching black shadow. As it got closer, he realized it was a cartoonish patrol car with "staff use only" written on it. He took a glance at the small square, decorated with colorful lights and fountains, and finally regained his composure. "Did you rent out this place?" he asked.

"Yeah, it's more fun this way," Shi Jin was honest this time. As soon as the car stopped, he opened the door and helped Lian Jun up, then folded the wheelchair and put it in the car. He got in himself and patted the driver's seat. "Let's go, follow the rehearsal route."

"Got it," the driver responded and turned the steering wheel.

Lian Jun raised an eyebrow and looked at the driver wearing a funny hat in the front seat. "Number Three?" he called out.

"Good evening, Young Master Jun," Number Three turned around and greeted Lian Jun, saying, "I will explain to you later for not notifying you in advance of my early return."

Lian Jun turned his head to look at Shi Jin.

Shi Jin coughed softly and nervously said, "I just asked them for a small favor..."

"So Number One has also returned?" Lian Jun asked.

Number Three and Shi Jin nodded together, looking at him cautiously, as if afraid of making him angry.

"You guys..." Lian Jun glanced at them and suddenly leaned back in his chair, saying, "Let's go."

"Huh?" Number Three was a little confused.

"Shi Jin must sleep before eleven o'clock, and it's already eight o'clock now, so let's hurry," Lian Jun explained. Upon hearing this, Number Three realized that he was not going to hold a grudge against everyone for deceiving him. He quickly responded and focused on driving the sightseeing car.

Seeing this, Shi Jin was moved and grabbed Lian Jun's hand, showering him with sweet words and compliments. "You are so handsome, talented, tolerant, and generous. Come, have some fruit." He then brought out a fruit platter from the car. Lian Jun playfully hit him and said, "You smooth talker."

As the tour bus continued on its journey, the lights along the road gradually lit up. If viewed from above, one would see that the lights in the amusement park were lit up in sequence according to the path of the tour bus. The areas that the guests had not yet reached remained in darkness. Although there were no other tourists in the park, the atmosphere was lively. Every shop was open and street performers in doll costumes and flower cars were shuttling back and forth. Occasionally, security personnel responsible for safety could be seen passing by. It was bustling with people and not at all deserted.

When passing by a dessert shop, Shi Jin stopped temporarily and got off the tour bus to buy two desserts from the cartoon-dressed shop owner. He handed one to Lian Jun and said, "Try it and see if you like it."

Lian Jun took the dessert with a slightly rough appearance and thought of something. He glanced at Shi Jin and picked up a spoon to take a bite and swallow it. He nodded and said, "Not bad." It was a familiar taste.

"Then you should eat more!" Shi Jin breathed a sigh of relief at the words and dug into his own dessert, taking half a spoonful and feeling quite pleased with himself.

Going out on a date without eating anything was simply not an option, but because Lian Jun had to watch his diet, Shi Jin had come up with the idea of making something Lian Jun could eat beforehand and passing it off as a store-bought product to set the mood for the date.

Fortunately, Lian Jun didn't mind his cooking skills, and the plan went smoothly.

Lian Jun saw all the changes in Shi Jin's expression and poked at the strawberry on top of the dessert, imitating his actions and taking half a spoonful into his mouth.

Mmm, delicious.

Along the way, there were many shops. They would open and close their doors from time to time, selling toys, souvenirs, snacks, and drinks. It seemed like they had completely forgotten that Lian Jun needed to watch his diet, as they kept buying sweets and snacks from the roadside shops.

Lian Jun seemed to have forgotten about his own health condition too, as he happily accepted everything that was offered to him. Occasionally, he would even suggest stopping to buy something and pay for it himself using his phone.

Apart from sitting in the sightseeing car for the entire journey, the two of them were just like any other ordinary couple who came to the amusement park for a night out. They strolled around, played games, ate and drank, and had a great time.

After eating their way through the park, they arrived at the location of the first ride - the carousel.

"Wanna ride? No need to queue," Shi Jin said, trying to persuade Lian Jun like a salesperson. Lian Jun had never played such a childish entertainment before. When he was young, he didn't have the opportunity, and when he grew up, he didn't have the time or the status to play. He thought he would never have the chance to play with these things in his life, but he didn't expect someone to go to such great lengths to make up for it for him.

"You said you would listen to me all day today, so let's go play," Shi Jin said to him. When Lian Jun didn't respond, Shi Jin suddenly changed his face, looking like he was saying, "I know you don't want to play, but I'm going to force you to play."

Lian Jun smiled, knowing that Shi Jin was giving him a way to "do something that doesn't fit his status," and nodded, saying, "Okay, let's go play."

"Don't back out!" Shi Jin immediately became happy and quickly got out of the car to help Lian Jun out of the wheelchair, looking like he was afraid he would run away. With a flick of his wrist, Number Three sent the two of them into the carousel area. He adjusted his hat and pulled out his camera - this was probably the simplest task he had done in the past decade, as he was quite skilled in photography.

The carousel didn't take long to complete a full rotation, but Shi Jin was not satisfied until he had taken Lian Jun on three full rotations. He insisted on riding every single horse, carriage, and tandem horse. Lian Jun indulged him, watching the lights change around them as the carousel spun and listening to Shi Jin's endless chatter. His smile grew wider and wider.

For someone who was already an adult, this childish game may not have been particularly interesting, but the sentiment of those around him was truly precious.

After finishing the carousel ride, the two of them returned to the car and continued along the park road. The lights ahead slowly lit up, revealing cute little stalls and lively parade floats. As they walked, it felt like they had stepped into a fairytale world.

After indulging in some more shopping and snacking, they arrived at their second activity - the bungee jump.

"If you're a real man, you'll go for the thrill," Shi Jin teased Lian Jun, "Do you dare to try?"

Lian Jun propped his face up with his hand, a smirk on his lips as he poked Shi Jin's cheek and nodded, "I dare."

"Alright then, let's go!" Shi Jin immediately pushed the door open and helped Lian Jun into the wheelchair.

As they settled into the bungee jump, Lian Jun noticed two more people had joined them - Number One and Number Two.

"Add me to your childhood memories," Number Two greeted Lian Jun before taking a seat on the machine.

Number One also greeted Lian Jun and said something similar to what Number Three had said. Lian Jun waved his hand to show that it was nothing, then turned to look at Shi Jin, who was clearly nervous, and reached out to help him with his protective gear.

"Don't be afraid," he said.

Whoosh...

The sound of reassurance mixed with the whirring of the machine as their bodies lifted off the ground, the air swirling around them. Lian Jun squinted his eyes and watched as they ascended, feeling a sense of satisfaction.

Of all the people who had ridden the bungee jump, only Shi Jin couldn't help but let out a scream.

Number Two mocked him mercilessly, but Shi Jin glared at him angrily and pushed Lian Jun onto the sightseeing car, heading towards the next activity.

... Bumper cars, swinging chairs, the UFO flying saucer, haunted houses, crazy spinning rides, 4D fantasy journeys, roller coasters... The two of them followed the path through the amusement park and tried every popular ride. They even stopped by the performance square to catch the night show. Finally, they made their way to the last and only ride in the park that wasn't lit up yet - the Ferris wheel.

"The Ferris wheel is right in the center of the park. When you reach the top, you can see the entire park lit up at night." Shi Jin got off the ride and led Lian Jun to the Ferris wheel. He checked the time and said, "It's 10:40 now. The Ferris wheel takes 20 minutes to complete one rotation, so we'll finish at 11. I booked a vacation cabin that comes with the park package. Let's stay here tonight, what do you think?"

Due to his good mood, Lian Jun's complexion looked much rosier than usual. When he heard the words, he looked up at the still unlit Ferris wheel and nodded, saying, "Okay, I'll follow your plan for the day."

"I knew you would say that." Shi Jin happily pressed down on the wheelchair armrest and took a step forward.

As the two approached the Ferris wheel, they heard footsteps behind them. Looking back, they saw that Number One and the others who had accompanied them on several thrilling rides such as the bungee jump and roller coaster had followed them without them noticing.

"How does it feel to be a Ferris wheel operator?" Number Two walked in front, exchanging experiences with Number Three, his tone somewhat smug.

Number Three glanced at him, took off his hat and played with it, ignoring him. Walking behind the two dim-witted cart drivers, Number One seemed to want nothing to do with them. He turned his head and began communicating with the park manager on his phone about the state of the vacation cabins.

Number Five followed closely behind Number One, diligently snapping pictures of everyone with his camera.

Number Nine brought up the rear, with earbuds in his ears and a custom-made game console from the park in his hands, completely absorbed in his game.

Everyone was relaxed, just like ordinary people who had come to enjoy themselves.

Lian Jun withdrew his gaze and touched the embroidered "Jun" character on his shirt hem. He whispered, "Thank you, Shi Jin," giving everyone in the darkness a chance to touch something beautiful.

Shi Jin's smile deepened, as if he hadn't heard Lian Jun's thanks. He happily hummed a tune. Several people each chose a cabin and sat inside. The Ferris wheel started moving, slowly taking everyone higher and higher. As the cabin rose, the night view of the park gradually unfolded before their eyes, and the lights on the Ferris wheel lit up one by one.

"Look, it's the music fountain square where we entered." Shi Jin suddenly pointed to the spot where the two of them had arrived at the amusement park.

Lian Jun looked over and then, with a bang, fireworks exploded not far from the fountain square, illuminating the night sky.

"Thanks to the park's no-fireworks policy," Shi Jin leaned against the cabin window, turned his head to look at Lian Jun, and asked, "Isn't it beautiful?"

Lian Jun smiled and looked at him with eyes that seemed to have imprinted the night scenery and fireworks outside the window. He leaned in and held his face, kissing his eyes and whispered, "You look beautiful."

Of all the scenery, your smile is the most beautiful.

Click.

The cabin reached the top and after a brief pause, slowly descended.

Number Two regretfully put down his camera and sighed, "It's a pity we couldn't sit together, we can't take a good picture."

"Focus, remember to check the security near the vacation cabin later," Number One reminded him, putting down his phone.

Number Two looked at him with a face of disdain, slumped in his chair and said, "The first time I ride a Ferris wheel in my life and it's with you, what a waste, I feel like it will become a shadow in my life."

Number One's face turned black and he kicked him in the leg.

... The perfect date had come to an end, and Shi Jin fell asleep with a satisfied smile. But when he woke up, cruel reality had returned.

"Jin Jin..." Xiao Si's voice was worried as it weakly spoke up, "Your progress bar has gone up again. It went up in the early hours of the morning, and now it's at 850."

Shi Jin grabbed his messy hair in despair and fell back onto the soft bed, groaning in pain. He didn't need to think about it - the progress bar must have gone up because of Xu Jie. Was Shi Weichong fighting with Xu Jie again?

The sound of running water came from the bathroom. It must be Lian Jun getting ready.

Shi Jin let go of his hair and turned his head to look at the bathroom door. He let out a long sigh and covered his face with the blanket. "Let it go up, let it go up. It's better to have a target to aim for."

It was only when it went up that he could work towards getting rid of it.
