Death Progress Bar

Chapter 113 - Dried Fruit Part 2

After Rong Zhouzhong left, Number Six notified the security personnel to open the fence on the beach and sent a group of people to the crew for simple safety checks.

After the inspection was completed, their boat brought in the small cruise ship that the crew used for filming and for the actors and staff to stay in, and anchored it in the sea directly facing the beach. The crew then began to move various equipment onto the beach and set up temporary work tents.

The beach instantly became lively, but Number Six was afraid that some people might be ignorant and wander over to the villa, so they cautiously stationed security personnel outside the long bridge and firmly surrounded the villa.

As night fell, the beach gradually quieted down. Shi Jin calculated the time and called Rong Zhouzhong, inviting him to the villa for dinner.

Rong Zhouzhong pretended to be calm and accepted the invitation, then turned around and grabbed his passing assistant, asking, "What should I pay attention to when visiting someone else's house for dinner?"

The assistant, who knew his boss's true nature well, looked shocked and exclaimed, "Someone actually invited you to their home as a guest? Who has been deceived by an illusion?"

Rong Zhouzhong's face turned dark and his voice was full of killing intent as he replied, "I haven't been in a good mood lately, you know?"

The assistant's body trembled and he quickly advised, "Remember to bring a gift, don't just eat their food for free, and be polite. Whatever you do, don't lose your temper or reveal your true nature, or they will hate you! Absolutely!"

What does it mean to be hated for revealing your true nature? Is he asking for trouble?

Rong Zhouzhong angrily threw him out of the room and slammed the door shut with a bang.

An hour later, Rong Zhouzhong arrived at the villa's door right on time, carrying a bulging bag.

"What's in the bag?" Shi Jin asked as he took the shopping bag from him.

"I have a lot of food to eat. My life assistant was afraid that I wouldn't be able to adapt to the food here, so she bought me a lot of food. I can't finish it all by myself," replied Rong Zhouzhong, hiding his expression by bowing his head to change his shoes.

Shi Jin glanced at the bag of snacks with various unfamiliar characters on them and frowned, saying, "Why are they all snacks? Your assistant is inexperienced. If she's afraid you won't be able to adapt to the food here, she should prepare some staple foods for you. Snacks can't replace meals."

Rong Zhouzhong stiffened and replied, "Um... she's a new assistant. I need to teach her more."

"Well, why don't you come to my place to eat during these few days of filming? It's very close anyway," Shi Jin casually invited, turning around to put the snack bag on the table.

He didn't see Rong Zhouzhong's embarrassed look as he almost tripped over the threshold upon hearing the invitation. After a natural greeting, Shi Jin led Rong Zhouzhong to the restaurant where Lian Jun was already seated. Upon seeing Rong Zhouzhong, Lian Jun took the initiative to greet him.

Rong Zhouzhong switched to battle mode in a split second, nodding reservedly in response before elegantly taking his seat at Shi Jin's indication.

Shi Jin: "..."

The dinner was sumptuous, but the atmosphere at the table was extremely strange. More accurately, Rong Zhouzhong was the one who became extremely strange. He seemed like a completely different person, exuding elegance in every movement and humor in every word.

His previous hot-headedness was nowhere to be seen, and he was so handsome that he seemed to be glowing, as if... as if he didn't want to lose to Lian Jun and wanted to outdo him.

Shi Jin felt a sharp pain in his stomach. This third brother was quite a character. He had already figured out everything about him through the original owner's memories and previous interactions.

Normally, he was sharp-tongued, hot-tempered, petty, and held grudges. But suddenly, he became polite, restrained, generous, and dignified. The contrast was so great that it was almost eerie. Plus, Rong Zhouzhong had an unusual gentle and refined look today... It was uncomfortable.

Could it be that he was possessed? It felt like watching a horror movie.

After enduring a meal that was nothing short of torture, Shi Jin was responsible for sending Rong Zhouzhong away.

Rong Zhouzhong lived on the ship of the crew. Shi Jin led him from the outside balcony of the living room to the veranda, and as they walked up the long bridge, he said, "Next time, just come directly from the bridge. You don't have to go around to the gate from the beach. I've already informed Number Six and the security personnel, they won't stop you."

With a reserved "Mm-hmm" and a polite thank you, Rong Zhouzhong exuded a sense of stability and reliability.

Unable to take it anymore, Shi Jin stopped in his tracks and turned to face him, his expression serious.

Caught off guard, Rong Zhouzhong almost bumped into him and quickly stepped back to regain his balance. "What's wrong?" he asked.

"That's what I was going to ask you," Shi Jin replied, his eyes scanning him up and down like a searchlight. Suddenly, he reached out and took off Rong Zhouzhong's glasses, scrutinizing his appearance up close.

Instinctively, Rong Zhouzhong leaned back and asked, "What are you doing?"

"Provoking you," Shi Jin answered, waving the glasses in his hand. "Let's fight. If you win, I'll give these back to you. Don't worry, this time I'll make sure not to hit your face."

With a bulging vein on his forehead, Rong Zhouzhong's mask cracked after wearing it all night. He said, "I don't want to fight with you."

"But I do," Shi Jin replied, throwing a straight punch. Rong Zhouzhong's pupils shrank as he quickly dodged to the side.

Shi Jin's first attack failed, but he immediately followed up with a second.

Rong Zhouzhong didn't want to fight with Shi Jin. He wanted to get closer to his younger brother and make up for his past mistakes. He didn't want to do things that would make Shi Jin dislike him. But Shi Jin kept insisting on fighting him, deliberately provoking him with his eyes and even calling him a "flower vase". Rong Zhouzhong couldn't take it anymore.

"Don't mess with me," he warned, his mask about to break.

Shi Jin persisted in attacking and once again called him a "flower vase".

"I've already told you not to mess with me!" He couldn't help but reach out to stop the incoming fist, the mask completely shattered. Annoyed, he said, "Shi Jin, I don't want to fight you!"

Shi Jin dodged his hand and punched him in the stomach, saying heavily, "What kind of act are you putting on this time? Are you trying to fool me again and continue to benefit from me? After all, Ruihang is back in my hands now."

The words were too cutting, and Rong Zhouzhong's eyes widened. The pain of being trampled and questioned was mixed with the physical pain, and his lips tightened. His gaze suddenly sank, and he gritted his teeth, saying, "Shi Jin, take back those words."

"Why do I have to take them back?" Shi Jin twisted his hand and pressed him down on the ground, looking down at him from a high position.

"You wore the mask of kindness and politeness so well just now, Rong Zhouzhong. No wonder you can be a movie star. Your acting skills have been honed for more than ten years. It's a crime if you don't become a movie star. Speaking of which, I never had a chance to ask you. As the tool for your thoroughly utilized acting skills, do you still find it handy?"

Rong Zhouzhong's struggle suddenly stopped. His hair fell down as he struggled, and his bangs covered his eyebrows and eyes. In the cold moonlight of the night and the hazy light on the bridge, only the lower half of his face with a flat lip line could be seen.

"Shi Jin, are these your sincere words?" He asked, his tone rare and serious.

Shi Jin reached out and pushed aside his hair, meeting his eyes that couldn't hide his emotions. "Are you scared?" he asked.

Rong Zhouzhong turned his head and closed his eyes in distress, suppressing the hurt in his heart. He gritted his teeth and said, "What is there to be afraid of? If you have the guts, go ahead and kill me!"

"My feelings back then were exactly the same as yours now," Shi Jin said, releasing him. "Rong Zhouzhong, do you remember how many hurtful things you said to me? Don't pretend to be a polite and caring older brother now, it's too fake."

Rong Zhouzhong's body stiffened, and he closed his eyes again, feeling a sour and stuffy emotion blocking his heart. He muttered, "You..."

"If you truly want to repair our relationship, then don't put on a mask in front of me. That's a shadow I don't want to remember," said Shi Jin, his imposing aura completely receding as he sat cross-legged next to him.

Rong Zhouzhong remained silent, turning his head away and not looking at him. After a long while, he finally spoke up, "I wasn't acting today...I was just trying to save face for you, Shi Jin. You're such an ignorant bastard!"

"Why are you cursing at me? And who says you're any better?" Shi Jin frowned and lightly kicked him with his leg.

Rong Zhouzhong quickly grabbed his ankle and turned to look at him, saying, "I really am not a good person. If you're angry, go ahead and hit me. I deserve it. Just don't hit my face, I have to film tomorrow."

Without hesitation, Shi Jin kicked him again and then maliciously stepped on him like he was playing with a ball, shaking him back and forth while cursing, "Rong Zhouzhong, you're really rotten to the core."

Rong Zhouzhong had never been 'tortured' like this before and his forehead was bulging with veins, but he knew he was in the wrong and closed his eyes to endure it, letting Shi Jin vent his anger.

"Your heart is smaller than the tip of a needle. You actually hold a grudge against something I said when we were nine years old." This was a fact. Before the truth was revealed, Rong Zhouzhong had indeed held a grudge against Shi Jin's response of "I know" to Shi Xingrui's instruction that "brothers are all his servants".

He had no words to respond and continued to endure the humiliation.

"You're still so childish, even resorting to revenge by sending me a cucumber pillow. Are you still in elementary school?" Shi Jin continued to scold.

"Enough from you, who do you think you are, a primary school student?" Rong Zhouzhong retorted, turning his head.

"The creditor speaks, the debtor has no right to interrupt. Be quiet!" Shi Jin stepped on his butt without mercy, "You are not only childish, but also sensitive, bad-tempered, too proud, and speak without thinking... You are really terrible!"

Rong Zhouzhong endured the double "insult" to his body and soul, feeling extremely aggrieved. He gritted his teeth and said, "You little brat, don't push your luck..."

Shi Jin withdrew his foot, grabbed him by the collar, and looked straight into his eyes, "So what if I pushed my luck? Are you going to kill me? Here's a gun, come and do it yourself." He pulled out his gun and handed it to him.

Damn it!

Rong Zhouzhong was so angry that he wanted to curse.

This trick had already been used once before, and now it was being used again for the second time! He threw the gun aside and grabbed Shi Jin's collar with his other hand, glaring at him fiercely. He wanted to say something, but when he met Shi Jin's emotionless gaze, his heart trembled and he swallowed his words.

He impatiently let go of Shi Jin and turned back to the bridge, shouting, "If you want to fight, fight! If you want to curse, curse! Don't look like you're half-dead, damn it! What kind of troublemaker have you raised, this bastard Shi Xingrui!"

Shi Jin slapped the back of his head and retorted, "You're the troublemaker!"

"I'll f*ck you..." Rong Zhouzhong turned his head to curse, but when he saw Shi Jin's face, he swallowed his words again, feeling aggrieved. He angrily pounded the bridge a few times, then gave up and collapsed on the bridge, looking like he had already given up on life.

The world suddenly quieted down. Shi Jin stopped hitting Rong Zhouzhong and stopped cursing at him.

He must be planning something.

Rong Zhouzhong gritted his teeth and braced himself for the next 'torture'.

One minute, two minutes...ten minutes passed, and the "torture" did not come. The surroundings became quieter and quieter, as if he was the only one left.

Could it be that Shi Jin just left him here?

Rong Zhouzhong furrowed his brow and couldn't help but open his eyes, turning his head to look at where Shi Jin had been sitting before.

Click.

A cellphone was hanging very close to him, with the camera on. Shi Jin pressed the camera button and pulled back his phone, which was almost hitting Rong Zhouzhong's face.

He admired the photo effect with satisfaction and, unlike his previous grumpiness, smiled brightly at Rong Zhouzhong. With his other hand, he took out a bag of dried fruit snacks from his pocket and said, "Hehe."

Rong Zhouzhong looked confused.

Hehe?

"Third Brother just played the role of a salted fish perfectly," Shi Jin said as he opened the snack bag. "This is a good post-meal entertainment. Third Brother, you worked hard. Goodnight, sweet dreams, bye."

He stood up, patted his butt, and turned around to leave. With a mouthful of dried fruit, Rong Zhouzhong watched foolishly as Shi Jin walked further away. He thought back to all of Shi Jin's actions that night and suddenly realized that he had been played for a fool.

Furious, he jumped up from the bridge like a flailing carp and chased after Shi Jin, shouting, "You little brat! How dare you play me! Don't run! Delete the photos for me! Delete them now!"

Finally, he calmed down.

Shi Jin happily ate his fruit, waved to Rong Zhouzhong as he approached, and stepped into his bedroom. He locked the window with a twist of his wrist and pulled the curtains closed in front of Rong Zhou's face.

Damn it!

Rong Zhou's face twisted, almost dying of anger on the spot. He paced back and forth on the balcony for more than ten minutes before reluctantly leaving. Inside the room, Lian Jun put down his documents and looked at Shi Jin who was eating fruit and peeking through the gap in the curtains at Rong Zhouzhong. He asked, "Was it fun?"

Shi Jin nodded and replied seriously, "It's fun." Among these older brothers, Rong Zhouzhong is the most fun.
