Death Progress Bar

Chapter 112 - Dried Fruit Part 1

The film crew waited outside all day with an unexpectedly persistent attitude.

Shi Jin sat on the edge of the long bridge, snacking on the treats Number Two bought and asked, "This island isn't small, and it mainly focuses on tourism. There must be more beautiful beaches than just the one we're using. Why does this film crew insist on borrowing our location?"

Leaning against a decorative bridge pillar, Number Two held a telescope in his hand, adjusting it back and forth. He replied, "According to Number Six, it seems that there are too many tourists coming and going in other areas, which would interfere with filming. And their scene of falling into the sea must be shot in an environment of 'isolated and helpless' on the sea, but this island is a tourist area, with too many boats coming and going. Only our beach, due to its location, has hardly any boats passing by, making it more peaceful and hassle-free."

"Oh, I see," said Shi Jin, nodding in understanding. He then stuffed a piece of octopus ball into his mouth and asked curiously, "What are you doing with that telescope?"

"Watching the show," Number Two replied, walking over and squatting down beside him. He handed him a telescope and said, "I heard you're interested in that film crew. Well, they all seem to be living on a boat parked just outside the railing. If we look from here, we might catch a glimpse of them."

Shi Jin pushed the telescope away in silence and said, "This isn't just watching a show, it's spying. And I'm not interested in the film crew, I'm just curious about the filming process."

"It's the same thing," Number Two said, taking back the telescope and preparing to use it himself. Suddenly, Number Six appeared from the villa's side corridor and headed straight towards them on the balcony, his steps a little hurried.

"What's going on?" He put down his binoculars and walked towards Number Six.

But Number Six ignored him and walked straight to Shi Jin, with a slightly strange expression on his face. "Young Master Shi, just now the film crew sent someone else to discuss borrowing the venue. Young Master Jun let them in and asked me to call you."

"Call me?" Shi Jin was puzzled.

Number Six nodded and replied dryly, "The person the film crew sent this time is Rong Zhouzhong."

Shi Jin was confused for two seconds, then he reached for his ear in shock and asked, "Who? Who did you say?"

......

Shi Jin hurried back to the villa and as soon as he entered the living room, he saw a familiar figure sitting on the sofa. He raised his hand to his forehead and sighed, "Isn't this world too small..."

Today, Rong Zhouzhong was wearing a light grey casual shirt that complemented his figure perfectly. He had dyed his hair brown and styled it into natural curls. A pair of gold-rimmed glasses sat on his nose, giving him a gentle and refined look that was a far cry from his usual appearance.

However, Shi Jin was certain that he could not mistake the person sitting on the sofa in his living room for anyone else but Rong Zhouzhong.

......

Rong Zhouzhong was feeling a bit restless. He had come to do a favor for an old director friend by playing the role of a teacher who dies midway through the film. Since it was just a cameo, he hadn't planned on spending too much time on the set.

But things didn't go as planned, and on the day of the final scene, a crew member accidentally leaked his schedule. This caused a commotion as a large group of fans and paparazzi showed up, making it impossible for the crew to shoot in the original location.

The longer the crew delayed, the more money they lost. Since it was his fault for the disruption, Rong Zhouzhong immediately volunteered to find a new location to shoot the scene.

Before he arrived, he had already inquired and vaguely knew that the owner of this villa was in business. He thought that maybe he could use the names of Shi Weichong or Fei Yujing to borrow the location that the crew couldn't get.

He didn't care if using the names of his elder or second brother would be embarrassing, anyway, he must borrow, no, rent this location today! He couldn't let the crew suffer losses because of his personal reasons.

He needed to speak nicely, soften his attitude, it wasn't borrowing, it was renting, and renting at a high price. The crew wasn't here to take advantage...

Stupid staff, how could they make such a low-level mistake and mess up his schedule...

No, no, he couldn't think about that, he needed to stay calm, stay calm...

He took a deep breath and suppressed the frustration of being harassed by the staff, chased and blocked by fans and paparazzi, and having to ask for help. He picked up the tea on the coffee table and took a sip, his forehead veins bulging slightly.

But really, isn't the owner of this villa being a bit rude? It's one thing not to let people in, but to let them in and not offer any hospitality, leaving a guest sitting alone in the living room, what's the point? Is this just a show of power?

...When he gets back, he's going to fire that staff member who made the mistake!

Tap, tap, tap the sound of slippers on the wooden floor faintly came.

Rong Zhouzhong perked up his ears and quickly suppressed all his emotions, putting on the usual mask he wears when facing the media. He looked in the direction of the sound and politely said, "Excuse me for disturbing you, I am... Xiao Jin?"

The gentle tone lasted less than a sentence before the familiar irritable voice emerged.

Sure enough, it was Rong Zhouzhong.

Sighing, Shi Jin walked over and sat across from Rong Zhouzhong, saying nothing. "You're Xiao Jin, then who am I? Third Brother, is it your crew that wants to borrow the beach?"

Rong Zhouzhong looked at him with a comical expression, scanning his casual clothes and the snacks in his hand for over ten seconds before incredulously asking, "What are you doing here? Is this villa and the beach yours? Do you live here?"

"No, these are all Annihilation's property," Shi Jin replied, placing the snacks on the table. He asked again, "Is it your crew that wants to borrow the beach?"

Rong Zhouzhong nodded, his full attention on him. He furrowed his brows and asked, "Have you been here since leaving school? With Lian Jun? Where is he? And you..."

"Wait!" Shi Jin was hit in the face with questions and quickly raised his hand to interrupt him. He stood up and said, "You calm down first, sit for a while. I'll go ask about borrowing the venue from Lian Jun. He should have finished his meeting with Number One by now."

Rong Zhouzhong watched him leave in shock and disbelief. After various emotions settled, he suddenly realized something - the beach was Annihilation's, which meant that he was now borrowing the venue from Lian Jun...the same Lian Jun who had kidnapped Shi Jin.

His face turned black in an instant, feeling an unnamed anger burning from the soles of his feet to the top of his head. He took out his phone and called his agent, Long Shi, gritting his teeth and saying, "Fire the staff who leaked my schedule! Immediately, right now! I never want to see his face again in my life!"

He hung up the phone and chugged the entire cup of tea on the table.

He really wanted to leave, but he couldn't. The production team couldn't afford to waste any time, and they needed the location.

Plus... his gaze fell on the snack bag on the coffee table, and he tightly gripped the tea cup - Shi Jin was here, and he had to borrow this location even if he had to sell out his own reputation.

......

A few minutes later, Lian Jun left the study with Shi Jin by his side, followed by Number One, whom Rong Zhouzhong had met before.

As soon as Rong Zhouzhong sat up straight, his eyes were full of fighting spirit. He was ready for battle and determined to gracefully accept any conditions that Lian Jun might propose, so as not to embarrass the Shi family. But before he could even adopt a defensive posture, Lian Jun spoke up.

"I can lend you the location, but before the film crew comes in, a security check must be done. And after they come in, they are not allowed to approach the bridge or the villas on this side. They are only allowed to move around on the beach." Lian Jun unexpectedly spoke in a friendly tone.

Rong Zhouzhong was taken aback, feeling like he had punched cotton. He felt uncomfortable and aggrieved.

Lian Jun nodded, as if everything had been settled, and gestured for Number One to push him back to his study. "Wait a minute, give me an account number for payment. The rental fee for the venue will be paid on a daily basis," interrupted Rong Zhouzhong, making a request.

Lian Jun paused and turned to look at him again. He had intended to offer everything for free as a favor to Shi Jin, but seeing the determination in Rong Zhouzhong's eyes and his willingness to pay, he fell silent and turned to Shi Jin.

Shi Jin quickly stepped back, indicating that he would not get involved in this matter. The venue belonged to Annihilation, and the transaction was between Annihilation and the production team, not between him and Rong Zhouzhong. He could help Rong Zhouzhong as a friend, but he could not let Lian Jun suffer losses because of it. Whether or not to charge was up to Lian Jun's own decision, and he would not interfere.

When Lian Jun saw him like this, his heart warmed and he looked at Rong Zhouzhong and said, "You can just give the rental fee to Shi Jin. I have something else to do, so I'll take my leave."

Shi Jin quickly held onto his wheelchair and frowned, saying, "Why are you giving it to me again? I don't want it."

"What's mine is yours." Lian Jun comforted him and gave his hand a gentle squeeze, even kissing the back of it.

Shi Jin was completely won over by Lian Jun's sweet words and let him go back to the study in a daze. After coming back to his senses, he coughed awkwardly and sat back across from Rong Zhou, saying, "Well then, that's settled. You should go take care of your business. I heard from Number Six that your film crew has been delayed here for several days."

Rong Zhouzhong watched their interaction with gritted teeth and cursed Lian Jun in his heart for being shameless. He asked in a menacing tone, "How much is the rental fee for the venue?"

Shi Jin replied, "I don't know about that."

Rong Zhouzhong's expression was serious, so serious that it was rigid. "Even between brothers, we must keep accounts clear. How much? I'll transfer it to you."

If he didn't transfer the money, he would lose to Lian Jun. Anyway, Lian Jun wouldn't let him owe him any favors. If he had to owe anyone, it would be Shi Jin!

His thoughts were almost written on his face. Shi Jin saw through it with one glance and remained silent for a few seconds before saying, "Just give me the market price."

Rong Zhouzhong immediately reached out to him. "Give me your account number."

"..." Shi Jin turned his head and looked at the study door that had closed again. He remembered how busy Lian Jun and Number One were when he first entered the study.

He didn't want to disturb them again, so he took out his phone, found Rong Zhouzhong's number, and sent his personal account number via text message.

As soon as Rong Zhouzhong received the account number, he left with an inexplicable momentum, leaving Shi Jin puzzled.

Number Two suddenly appeared, with a mysterious expression on his face: "I think this Third Brother of yours will definitely pay you twice the market price."

Shi Jin remained silent. Rong Zhouzhong's thoughts were easy to guess. His face almost said, "I'm not short of money. Let's see how I use money to get back for my embarrassment." He couldn't even pretend to be unable to see it.
