After Our Divorce, I Still Wore Your Jacket

After Our Divorce, I Still Wore Your Jacket

Chapter 34 - Chapter 34

Therefore, Yuan Ye's statement "Who is younger than me" was not without reason. When he and Fang Shaoyi first got together, he were indeed very young, almost still dewy-eyed. All of his knowledge about emotions came from Fang Shaoyi, whether it was about pursuing someone or being in a relationship, it was always with the same person.

However, Fang Shaoyi could quite accept his other statement, "When you pursued me".

"I pursued you?" Fang Shaoyi raised an eyebrow and smiled. "Wasn't it you who pursued me?"

Yuan Ye was no longer the same as when he was a naive teenager. He had long seen through all the complicated emotions between people. Now, as an uncle at the age of 33, he pointed at Fang Shaoyi, shrugged his shoulders and laughed, calling, "You're a big-tailed wolf! You just watched me foolishly chase after you, pretending to be a pig to eat a tiger."

"Are you the tiger?" Fang Shaoyi shook his head and walked slowly forward, saying, "You were nothing more than a little puppy back then."

Walking in the comfortable night, under the moonlight, Yuan Ye caught up from behind and reminisced about the past, feeling quite emotional. He had once risked everything to love Fang Shaoyi, brave and fearless, but in the end, he had lost him.

Out of nowhere, Yuan Ye reached out and grabbed Fang Shaoyi's hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. Their fingers were both warm. Yuan Ye smiled and looked up at Fang Shaoyi, saying "thank you" to him when their eyes met. He didn't say why he was grateful, and Fang Shaoyi didn't ask.

That day, they came back late, and Ji Xiaotao couldn't help but stare at them suspiciously, as if trying to uncover some scandalous affair. Yuan Ye pushed his face away as he walked by and sat down on the couch, saying, "You're making me nervous with all that staring. If you keep acting like this, I'll have your boss fire you and get a new, more relaxed assistant."

Ignoring their complaints, Ji Xiaotao poured water for the two of them and said, "I'm just saying, even if I get you a new assistant, the two of you still wouldn't be able to take care of yourselves."

Yuan Ye took the water and blew on it for a while before taking a sip and saying, "Your skin is so thick, it could cover the entire Pacific Ocean."

Ji Xiaotao laughed and chatted with Yuan Ye while Fang Shaoyi went to take a shower. After he finished, Yuan Ye said goodbye and went upstairs to rest. Following the crew every day was tiring, so he wanted to take a shower and go to bed early.

After Yuan Ye left, Fang Shaoyi said to Ji Xiaotao, "If you have time, go talk to Yang Siran."

Ji Xiaotao raised an eyebrow and asked, "What for? Is something wrong with him?"

Fang Shaoyi remained expressionless and simply said, "Just see if he's having any difficulties."

After following Fang Shaoyi for so long, Ji Xiaotao could understand him without needing to say much. He looked at Fang Shaoyi in disbelief and asked, "Really? We're still here, who could bully him? Director Jiang's crew is pretty strict..."

Fang Shaoyi didn't say much, just told Ji Xiaotao to ask when he had the chance. After all, that person was from their company, and if something really happened under his nose, he couldn't just ignore it.

Ji Xiaotao nodded and said, "Okay, I'll find a chance to ask. He seems to have a thin skin, I'm afraid he won't be able to handle it."

During the day, Fang Shaoyi bent down and said something to Yang Siran in front of the camera before leading him to the dressing room. Although no one spoke about it, there was a subtle tension in the air as everyone exchanged glances, especially as Yuan Ye was present. Fang Shaoyi didn't bother explaining too much to Yuan Ye, simply saying that his leg was bruised and he needed to cover it up.

This was just his personality - he wasn't the type to meddle in other people's affairs, regardless of their status or whether it was Yuan Ye or not.

In the afternoon, Yang Siran sat on the sofa feeling a bit nervous. His eyebrows were furrowed and he was reluctant to take off his pants. Watching him, it was clear that he had something on his mind. Eventually, he took off his pants and as Fang Shaoyi approached, he saw the ambiguous marks on his thighs. Some were blue, while others were a faded yellow.

Fang Shaoyi was experienced and knew exactly what those marks meant. Regardless of whether Yang Siran was from their company or just a young actor, Fang Shaoyi would take care of him when needed. Having those marks on his legs would be a big problem for an actor, especially if they were caught on camera.

Fang Shaoyi frowned and turned to the surrounding staff, saying, "Wait a minute."

He only told Yuan Ye that his leg was bruised, but didn't explain how it happened. Yuan Ye was most annoyed by the dirty deals in the industry, and Fang Shaoyi couldn't explain too clearly to him.

Ji Xiaotao was also puzzled by this. It shouldn't have happened. Geng Jinwei was disdainful of artists selling themselves for resources and never gave them any hints to do so. Their reputation in the industry was good, and Geng Jinwei had his ways, but he never pitted anyone like that.

Moreover, being signed under Fang Shaoyi's studio meant they wouldn't lack resources. Director Jiang himself had nothing to do with such messy affairs, and his team wouldn't dare to act recklessly.

Therefore, unless Yang Siran did it voluntarily, no one could really do anything to him.

Yuan Ye said didn't care much about it, and he really didn't. Before he arrived, Yang Siran and Fang Shaoyi had already made the news, but Yuan Ye was always polite to him and even called him "little brother" when they spoke. At his age, he couldn't be bothered with petty jealousy towards younger people, nor did he have the patience for such things.

Sometimes he didn't wake up early in the morning and would leisurely stroll to the set after finishing his breakfast. When Fang Shaoyi was filming, Yuan Ye would bring a small stool and sit next to him to watch. When there was no scene for him, Yuan Ye would wander around aimlessly.

Old Tu sent him a message on his phone, asking when he would return and telling him that a new batch of good tea had arrived at the teahouse and inviting him to come and taste it.

Yuan Ye replied, "I don't know if we'll have a break for the Lunar New Year. If we do, I'll go back home. If not, I'll just stay with the crew."

Old Tu sent another message: "My girl asked me to give you some encouragement, wishing you success in your pursuit soon."

On the way, Yuan Ye was looking down at his phone and accidentally bumped into someone. He quickly dodged to the side and apologized without looking back. The other person was a small worker from the film crew who also quickly apologized, "Sorry, Yuan Ye-laoshi."

Yuan Ye waved his hand and smiled, "It's okay."

When he arrived on set, he habitually went to find Fang Shaoyi, but found that he looked a bit unwell and was resting with a thin blanket covering him. Yuan Ye quietly asked Ji Xiaotao, "What's wrong?"

Ji Xiaotao replied, "He's not feeling well. They applied new paint on the wall last night, the smell is too strong, and he's been filming next to it all morning."

Yuan Ye furrowed his brow and asked, "Why did they paint it?"

"Well, last night the director and his team studied the footage and thought the colors were too bright. They stayed up all night to adjust the paint," replied Ji Xiaotao, annoyed.

Fang Shaoyi couldn't handle strong smells and had a headache. They were filming the tailor shop in the small town for the next few days, and the actors had to leave as soon as they finished filming. They would have to endure the smell for several days.

Yuan Ye looked down at Fang Shaoyi, who was probably asleep. His blanket had slipped off his blanket and he still hadn't moved.

As Yuan Ye pulled the blanket back up, he asked Ji Xiaotao, "Did you bring the menthol oil?"

"I did," Ji Xiaotao replied, taking it out of his pocket. "I was just about to apply it, but he wouldn't let me."

Yuan Ye took a bit of ointment on his two fingers and bent down to gently massage Fang Shaoyi's temples.

Fang Shaoyi opened his eyes and Yuan Ye whispered, "Let me massage you for a while, continue sleeping."

The massage did help relieve some of the tension, and Fang Shaoyi closed his eyes and drifted off immediately. Ji Xiaotao brought over a chair for Yuan Ye to sit on, but he shook his head and declined, as it was too far out of reach.

Yuan Ye knew that Fang Shaoyi had a weak sense of smell and that exposure to strong odors could cause him discomfort for several days. Every time he saw Fang Shaoyi in pain, Yuan Ye had the urge to tell him to stop acting.

He started acting since he was young, and now he's already 36 years old. He works too hard, but it's been better in recent years. In the past, he took on a lot of fight scenes and always ended up getting hurt. At that time, Yuan Ye often felt upset and didn't want him to continue doing this. But now, he has a different perspective.

With age comes understanding. Everyone has something they hold onto and love, and if you gain a lot, you naturally have to pay a corresponding price.

During lunch, Fang Shaoyi didn't eat anything and had no appetite. His head felt heavy and he thought it was going to explode. Yuan Ye always carried some menthol oil with him, and as soon as Fang Shaoyi finished filming, he would immediately apply some and massage his head.

Ji Xiaotao secretly took a photo of the two of them and sent it to Jian Xu's assistant, Dong Lin, and boasted a little: "My two lovebirds are always so affectionate, but they still haven't remarried. I wonder what kind of game they're playing."

Dong Lin sent him a "awkward yet polite smile" emoji, then asked, "What's wrong with Brother Shaoyi? He looks uncomfortable."

"Oh, it's nothing. Just some paint fumes," Ji Xiaotao replied.

Dong Lin asked, "Hey, is it serious?"

"If you 'hey' me again, I'll block you," Ji Xiaotao threatened.

Dong Lin sent two more emojis and said, "Hahahahahaha, okay, I won't send anymore."

Ji Xiaotao was like a mother about to marry off her daughter, unable to contain his excitement. He said to Dong Lin, "Actually, my brother, even though he's uncomfortable from the fumes, it's not like he's possessed by Daiyu*. Brother Ye is here, so he's being a bit of a drama queen over a minor ailment. It's different when there's someone to take care of you, right?"

*T/N: A principal character from the famous Chinese classic <A Dream of the Red Mansions>, who was well-known for being weak and frail.

Dong Lin probably didn't know how to respond, so he just replied with a bunch of "haha"s and started sending emojis.

That night, Yuan Ye had Ji Xiaotao order two bowls of porridge and some side dishes, and they ate in Fang Shaoyi's room. Ji Xiaotao had sharp eyes and left after ordering, going back to his own room to watch TV and eat his food.

Fang Daiyu still had no appetite, and it was uncertain whether he could be coaxed into eating a few bites later. At this time, the assistant shouldn't just stand by and watch.

In the room, Yuan Ye opened the bowlw of porridge and called out to Fang Shaoyi, "Come on, have some porridge."

Fang Shaoyi frowned and whispered, "No, my head hurts."

"Then what can I do to make it hurt less?" Yuan Ye asked with a smile.

Fang Shaoyi glanced at him and said expressionlessly, "Menthol oil."
