Chapter 99 - Chapter 70 Part 3

Yan Hang had just started laughing when Chu Yi suddenly became very nervous and touched his forehead, "Do I have wrinkles?"

"Ah, that's..." Yan Hang didn't finish speaking before being interrupted.

"You don't even have any yet!" Chu Yi said.

"I'm only three years older than you, not thirty years. Why should I have them already?" Yan Hang said.

"I'm only, seventeen!" Chu Yi said in shock.

"The wrinkle I was talking about," Yan Hang said helplessly with a sigh, "was when you frown! Who said you have wrinkles!"

"...Oh," Chu Yi relaxed with a sigh, leaning back in his seat.

Yan Hang had originally wanted to sleep on the plane, but he couldn't really fall asleep in this state. Plus, Chu Yi kept holding his hand, gently pinching it in his palm, so he could only close his eyes and pretend to nap.

But his main issue was emotional, not really lack of sleep.

All the way, Chu Yi kept grabbing his hand and pinching it, which actually had a soothing effect. When they got off the plane, Yan Hang felt that his fatigue had subsided a lot.

"We're going straight to your home later, right?" Yan Hang asked, "I'll wait for you downstairs."

"Yeah," Chu Yi nodded, "Come back with me, too cold outside."

"Okay," Yan Hang smiled, "First of all, if your grandma dares to scold me, I won't endure it like you. I'll curse back."

"I don't endure her anymore either," Chu Yi said.

"Really?" Yan Hang turned his head to look at him.

"Yeah," Chu Yi pulled at his collar, "I have a bad temper now."

Yan Hang smiled without replying.

"Really," Chu Yi said, "A fighting dog."

"What's a fighting dog?" Yan Hang asked.

"A fighting dog among dogs," Chu Yi answered.

"Damn," Yan Hang almost choked laughing.

But although Chu Yi's words sounded arrogant, after getting in the cab, he hadn't made another sound. When they got out at the intersection to his home, Yan Hang could feel Chu Yi's nervousness.

He felt somewhat sad, going home actually made Chu Yi nervous. This really was a strange family.

Yan Hang looked around. Of course he wasn't nervous, but he also had some special feelings.

He was quite familiar with this place, this street, and the rental house he had lived in across the street that he passed by earlier, the only one that left a memory in his years of wandering life.

And that alley that used to be covered in blood.

He couldn't describe the feeling, not uncomfortable, depressed, or gloomy. To be precise, it was probably somewhat wistful.

He and his dad had parted ways here, two Spring Festivals ago.

"Go to the, convenience store later," Chu Yi said as he walked inside, "Buy my grandma, a pack of cigarettes."

"Okay," Yan Hang responded.

He had never been to Chu Yi's home. The buildings on both sides of the road looked similar, shabby and bleak, especially in winter, the snow on the walls made the already deserted road even more desolate.

That was the feeling when he first turned in from the bustling main road so long ago. Over such a long time, there really hadn't been any change here.

After walking past three buildings inside, Yan Hang heard quite lively sounds ahead.

But listening closely, it seemed he could also hear a woman yelling hoarsely.

Chu Yi stopped abruptly.

Yan Hang immediately realized this was probably Chu Yi's caterpillar-browed grandma.

"No justice in the world!" Yan Hang pricked up his ears and heard a sentence or two, "Bullying us widowed mother and orphan child! Can't let people live over New Year!"

Yan Hang was taken aback. Widowed mother and orphaned child?

He quickly turned his head to look at Chu Yi: "Your grandfather..."

"He's alive," Chu Yi said, "It's just, a saying."

"Oh." Yan Hang sighed.

"Let's go," Chu Yi turned to walk out, "Go invite my aunt, for a meal, then go to the boxing, gym, and then to grandfather's house for, New Year's."

"Alright." Yan Hang nodded.

Back on the street, Chu Yi habitually walked towards the riverbank.

"Going to visit your tree hollow?" Yan Hang asked.

"Mm," Chu Yi thought for a moment and smiled, turning his head, "It might still, still remember you."

"Yeah," Yan Hang said, "I even talked to it before."

Chu Yi's mood was easy to adjust. In just this short while, he was already much happier than before, looking quite cheerful as they headed towards the riverbank.

As they reached the fork in the road leading to the river, three people emerged from inside.

Yan Hang glanced at them. He couldn't make out their faces clearly, but from their walking posture, he could tell it was actually Crab and his two little shrimp soldiers.

At first glance, Liang Bing only recognized Yan Hang. When he looked over the second time, his eyes suddenly widened, then quickly returned to normal size.

Chu Yi looked at him.

According to his old habits, he would've already walked away. But now he didn't move.

Liang Bing also lacked his previous attitude of looking for trouble whenever they met. After a pause, he led his two followers to lean against the nearby wall, and continued walking forward.

"He said someone, someone saw my dad," Chu Yi said softly to Yan Hang, and walked two steps towards Liang Bing, blocking his way.

"What do you want?" Liang Bing glared at him. "We don't have any grudges anymore, do we? What more do you want?"

"Just an interview," Yan Hang lit a cigarette and stood behind Chu Yi. "How do you feel right now?"

"I feel like leaving!" Liang Bing said.

"Who saw my dad?" Chu Yi asked.

Liang Bing was stunned for a moment, just looking at him without speaking.

Chu Yi took out the flyers he had received earlier, rolled them into a tube, and held it up to Liang Bing's mouth. "Where, where did they see him?"

Liang Bing looked at the paper tube, his facial muscles twitching twice.

"If you don't say," Chu Yi looked at him, "I'll make you, go for a winter swim."
