When Yan Hang darted around the corner to chase after that person, there was only one thought in his mind - to catch this guy.
It wasn't to avenge the stab wound.
This person was currently the only lead he could get in contact with. Although it was uncertain whether this person was directly related to the past incident, he had appeared around Yan Hang for the third time already. Catching him would be somewhat useful no matter what.
Both he and Chu Yi rushed ahead quickly, but when they reached the corner, Yan Hang slowed down for safety reasons. Chu Yi still charged ahead recklessly.
"Slow down!" Yan Hang shouted in a low voice, eyes on the wall corner, wary of any accidents.
Just as Yan Hang called out, Chu Yi immediately slowed down. And to reduce inertia, he even coolly kicked against the wall, causing himself to arc out from behind the corner instead of turning directly.
Damn, now this dog was unconsciously showing off his cool side.
And right in front of the master of cool, Yan Hang.
After turning the corner was a straight path, with entrances to several side roads along the way, leading to other neighborhoods. If they didn't catch that limping guy currently sprinting ahead before then, he might get away.
No, when that guy ran, his bad left leg somehow wasn't obvious at all as he scurried nimbly ahead.
Yan Hang sucked in a breath. It had been a long time since he last ran like this. Luckily he had worn sneakers today for comfort when going out.
He abruptly sped up, eyes fixed on the back of that limping guy as he chased after him. In an instant, he left the Chu Yi who had just unconsciously showed off his cool side in the dust behind him.
Chu Yi followed behind Yan Hang. Yan Hang's explosive running power convinced him utterly. Last time when Yan Hang had chased him down on the street wearing casual shoes, he had already been rather impressed.
Now he could only desperately pump his legs to keep up, afraid that something unexpected might happen again.
They hadn't run far before catching up to that guy.
Yan Hang used his old trick again, taking out something from his pocket and flinging it at the back of the guy's head.
Only when the object hit the guy's head and dropped to the ground did Chu Yi see that it was the folding knife which he was once acquainted with before.
So the purpose of the knife that Yan Hang carried around was to act as a meteor hammer.
After being struck in the back of his head, that guy staggered briefly but still continued stumbling forward frantically like a madman, then turned into a side road nearby.
Because he had thrown the meteor hammer attack, Yan Hang's speed was affected. Chu Yi rushed forward quickly.
A memory surfaced in his mind - similar speed, similar distance, the same person.
He was still several steps away when he leapt forward, kicking viciously into the back of that guy in midair. That guy's legs went soft and Chu Yi's kick knocked him face-first heavily into the ground.
Knowing that he would be in trouble if caught by these two, that guy struggled to get back up again even as he fell, still wanting to escape.
Just as Chu Yi was about to kick him in the back again, Yan Hang streaked past his side and swung his leg, kicking fiercely into the back of the guy's head.
The guy slammed into the ground once more, his nose probably hitting the floor. He lay there clutching at his nose.
Not knowing what he should do, Chu Yi could only look at Yan Hang.
Yan Hang went over and grabbed the guy's arm, hauling him up. "Talk."
The guy lay supine on the ground, still covering his nose. Blood was seeping out from between his fingers - he must have hurt his nose and gotten a nosebleed. Hearing Yan Hang's words, he didn't make a sound.
Yan Hang straightened up and waited two seconds before suddenly driving his foot into the guy's waist.
The guy immediately curled up in pain.
Even from the side, Chu Yi could feel how much force was behind Yan Hang's kick. His insides involuntarily cringed in sympathy. He had never seen Yan Hang attack so heavily before.
"Gonna talk or not?" Yan Hang bent down, looking at the guy's face.
The guy still didn't make a sound. He only moved his hand from his nose to clutch at his waist instead, eyes shut tightly as he gasped for breath.
Just as Yan Hang was about to speak again, the guy suddenly yelled, "Help! Robbery!"
There were barely any pedestrians on this street now. The few cars that drove by didn't notice the situation here either. There were green spaces on both sides of this small road, and there was little coming and going from the residential area at this time too. And probably from being kicked heavily by Yan Hang earlier, this guy's voice wasn't actually very loud when he shouted.
But Chu Yi was still badly startled by him, instantly angered.
What a rogue! He actually tried to invert right and wrong?
Yan Hang was probably furious too. Without another word, he kicked at the guy's head.
Then it was kick after kick rained down on that guy's body - ribs, waist, stomach, all fatal blows. It took Chu Yi more than ten seconds to recover from his daze.
"Yan Hang!" He shouted.
The guy on the ground had initially been using his arms to shield his head. Later, his limbs weakened and he could no longer defend himself after being kicked in the head multiple times by Yan Hang.
Chu Yi even saw one kick land on his jaw. For a good few seconds after that, the guy couldn't even draw breath.
"Yan Hang!" He shouted again. If this continued, it would become murder!
He had never seen Yan Hang so furious before, had never seen such lethal attacks.
Previously, he had even fantasized that he might not necessarily lose to Yan Hang if they fought. Now he finally understood that if Yan Hang truly fought him, he probably wouldn't even have a chance to hit back.
He froze for another few seconds before gritting his teeth and throwing himself forward, wanting to grab Yan Hang from behind and drag him away.
But as he neared, Yan Hang's elbow had already reflexively swung backwards, smashing painfully into his ribs. He sucked in a pained breath but still stubbornly endured that blow.
He opened his arms wide and hugged Yan Hang from behind, crossing his arms over to lock Yan Hang's limbs in his embrace.
Yan Hang was still trying to kick out. He hurriedly yanked Yan Hang backwards forcefully, causing Yan Hang to swing at empty air.
"Yan Hang!" He said urgently next to Yan Hang's ear, "Calm down!"
Yan Hang didn't speak. He only struggled briefly.
"You'll beat him to death!" Chu Yi tightened his arms.
Yan Hang still didn't make a sound. But his hand suddenly slid towards Chu Yi's side.
Chu Yi didn't know what move this was, but he knew Yan Hang had endless escape techniques and was extremely crafty with subtle forces. He could only preempt Yan Hang.
He released his arms and shoved Yan Hang forcefully towards the wall beside them.
He couldn't run as fast as Yan Hang or fight as skillfully, but he was sure he was stronger.
With that shove, Yan Hang's whole body slammed into the wall. Chu Yi felt a wave of nervousness - he was afraid Yan Hang would hit his head.
But Yan Hang was experienced after all. As his back hit the wall he lowered his head, absorbing some of the impact. He didn't bang his head.
Chu Yi rushed over, pinning Yan Hang with his left forearm across his chest and his right hand holding Yan Hang's forehead still.
"Yan Hang!" he stared into Yan Hang's eyes. "Look at me!"
Yan Hang's breathing was ragged. He struggled briefly then slumped back against the wall, not moving anymore.
"Look at me!" Chu Yi fixed his gaze on him. "Look at me."
After a moment Yan Hang said softly: "A mutt. What's there to look at?"
"No more fighting," Chu Yi said.
Yan Hang didn't reply.
"No more fighting," Chu Yi repeated. "Did you hear me?"
"You're not stuttering anymore?" Yan Hang said.
"Therapy," Chu Yi said. "I don't stutter now."
Yan Hang smiled slightly, glancing at the man lying on the ground. "Call Old Cui to notify the police."
"Okay." Chu Yi immediately took out his phone.
As he made the call, Yan Hang searched the man's pockets but didn't find anything useful.
Cui Yi's car swung around the corner very quickly and stopped at the roadside.
Then a police car arrived.
Chu Yi watched as the man was loaded into the police car, and as Yan Hang was questioned extensively by the officers. Only when the police car drove off did he finally relax, breathing out heavily.
In Cui Yi's car, he still felt a little dizzy with disbelief.
"You'll be back on the second day of the new year?" Cui Yi asked.
"Back at night on the first day," Yan Hang said. "I have work the next day."
"Okay," Cui Yi did a U-turn, heading for the estate entrance. "Mainly if they want to question you, you need to be around."
"I'll be here," Yan Hang stretched his legs out, leaning into the car door.
