Chapter 84 - Chapter 65 Part 3

"I didn't say anything to you when you asked for so much time off last vacation," Teacher Yang said, "And now you're not even coming back to sleep at night! What if something happened!"

"I, I know," it took Chu Yi quite some time to squeeze out a sentence.

"Now that you've come to this school, I'm responsible for you, responsible for every single one of you. Don't think that coming to a technical secondary school is more relaxed than a regular high school, that you can just slack your days away!" Teacher Yang said.

"Mm," Chu Yi responded.

"Your grades in your major classes are the best in your class right now," Teacher Yang said, "Don't let up on yourself! This is what will feed you in the future!"

"I know," Chu Yi said.

"Alright," Teacher Yang waved his hand, "Go on to class."

Chu Yi let out a breath, turned around, and ran off.

There were only two morning classes. After they finished there was nothing else to do, so Chu Yi sat with some dorm mates at the edge of the sports field, watching older students play basketball.

"Did Teacher Yang say anything else to you?" Zhou Chunyang asked.

"Hm?" Chu Yi snapped back from his daze and looked at him.

"Did you go work at the pier last night?" Zhou Chunyang frowned, "Looking like you didn't sleep all morning?"

"No," Chu Yi rubbed his nose somewhat embarrassedly, "just moved some bricks for a bit."

"Pfft, screw you," Zhou Chunyang looked at him.

"I didn't finish work until ten," Chu Yi sighed, "what should I do?"

"It's fine," Zhou Chunyang said, "as long as you can get back by eleven, just climb back in through the corridor window outside the iron stairs. The dorm supervisor walks around the corridor listening for noise at ten, he doesn't come check things out until eleven."

"You really cut it close last night," Hu Biao said, "Teacher Yang came by looking for that idiot Su Bin for something, he came in and saw there was an empty bed."

"Mm," Chu Yi smiled.

He didn't want to give up working his part time job, after all he was different from the other students. Working part time was his only source of income. If he didn't work part time he wouldn't even have money for food, let alone a huge sum for tuition.

He still needed to pay back Coach He, who had helped him out so much. He should pay back the money before New Year's if possible.

"Mutt," came a laughing girl's voice from behind.

Chu Yi didn't turn around, he was too embarrassed.

Zhou Chunyang tilted his head: "Not going to greet her?"

"Don't know how," Chu Yi said.

"Dog Bro," another girl spoke up, "why are you being so cold, can't even say hi? How rude!"

Chu Yi hesitated for two seconds before turning his head around to see three girls leaning against a tree behind them, drinking soda and looking over at them.

"Hey," Chu Yi said.

The girls were all stunned.

Chu Yi didn't have any extra vocabulary for social interactions, so he turned back around and continued watching the basketball game.

It took him a good half a day to calm himself down. He waved to the few people in his dorm room who had looked back at him several times, signaling that he was fine. Then he picked up his phone and called Yan Hang.

"Puppy," Yan Hang answered the phone.

"I received that phone call again," Chu Yi said. "The silent one."

"The call with no voice?" Yan Hang asked.

"Yes," Chu Yi said. "I feel like it was my dad."

Yan Hang was silent for two seconds. "Did you call out to him?"

"Mmm," Chu Yi nodded.

"Any reaction from the other end?" Yan Hang asked.

"They hung up," Chu Yi said.

Yan Hang didn't speak, seemingly lost in thought.

"Should we... report this to the police?" Chu Yi bit his lip.

Saying this was very difficult for him. He didn't know what role his dad played in that incident, and he didn't know what the outcome would be if the police caught his dad.

But he said it anyway.

If it was someone else, he might have hesitated more, but this was Yan Hang.

"The numbers were different both times right?" Yan Hang asked.

"Mm," Chu Yi said. "One was a southern number, one was northern."

"Numbers that can be randomly displayed are hard to trace," Yan Hang thought for a long time. "Let's... not call the police for now."

"Don't you want to know where he is?" Chu Yi asked softly.

"I do want to know," Yan Hang said. "But this might not help, and..."

"What?" Chu Yi asked anxiously.

"I don't want you to have to do this," Yan Hang said. "If we really need to call the police, I'll do the talking."

Chu Yi didn't speak. He suddenly felt like crying a little.

"Don't cry," Yan Hang said. "Or I'll smack you."

"I'm not..." Chu Yi took a breath. "I'm Dog Bro."

"What crappy bro," Yan Hang laughed. "To me you'll always be my little sesame seed puppy."

"Bro," Chu Yi insisted.

"You're really stubborn," Yan Hang said, smiling.

"Bro," Chu Yi emphasized again.

"Bro it is, definitely bro," Yan Hang said. "Dog Bro, don't eat dinner tonight. Go to your cafe, I'll make you something delicious, you just have to pay."

"Okay," Chu Yi smiled slightly. After hanging up the phone he rubbed his eyes, realizing his lashes were still wet.
