Chapter 61 - Chapter 58 Part 1

Chu Yi requested four days off, from Monday to Thursday, but Yan Hang was being discharged from the hospital on Friday. So on Thursday, he called the head teacher again to ask for one more day off.

"Why didn't you just ask for five days off in the first place? With the weekend it would be a long break," the head teacher said.

"That would be, too obvious," Chu Yi said.

"Just this one more day off," the head teacher said. "Even though we're a vocational school, we can't be too lax. Learning these things is for your own good."

"Mm," Chu Yi responded.

Since it wasn't the weekend, he didn't ask his dorm mates to come help out. After all, the head teacher had said they shouldn't be too lax. Better to let them skip class and sleep in the dorm than have them come out.

There wasn't much stuff anyway, so Cui Yi was able to take it all in one car trip.

"The paperwork is done," Cui Yi came in with a few forms. "Let's go... Do you want to look at the bill?"

"No need," Yan Hang said, picking up his bag.

"I'll take it," Chu Yi took the bag from him.

"A cripple," Yan Hang glanced at his foot, "trying to show off."

"It's fine now," Chu Yi turned and walked out of the hospital room with the bag.

Of course it wasn't really fine. In just these few days, the swelling had just gone down, but he no longer needed to hop around. As long as he didn't run or jump, it was mostly okay. A slight limp didn't affect much. It still looked quite persevering of him.

From the hospital room downstairs to the parking lot, Chu Yi kept an eye on their surroundings, afraid of running into that person again.

After looking around a few times, he noticed that Yan Hang and Cui Yi were doing about the same, glancing to the sides from time to time, just looking a bit calmer than him.

"I hired a housekeeper auntie to come make you two nutritious meals every day," Cui Yi opened the car door and got in. "Just rest at home for a while, don't go out."

"Mm," Yan Hang responded.

Chu Yi helped him into the back seat. When he got in himself, he realized his injured left foot made it hard to use strength to get in the car. After a moment's hesitation, he turned around and hopped directly into the back seat in one motion, then pulled his legs in.

"Wow," Cui Yi glanced back at him. "That startled me, I almost pulled out a knife."

"You're a lawyer," Chu Yi said, "and you carry a knife?"

"I can at least pull out a fruit knife," Cui Yi started the car.

As they left the hospital, Chu Yi looked out the window and breathed a sigh of relief.

Although Yan Hang's physical condition was good now and he was recovering well, even Chu Yi as a layman could see that Yan Hang's mood was low and his complexion was poor. He was probably having insomnia again. If he didn't get discharged, Chu Yi was worried Yan Hang would have issues.

He turned his head to look at Yan Hang. Yan Hang was resting his head on the headrest, looking out the window on that side.

That side profile was simply stunning.

The lines extending from his neck and collarbones.

Chu Yi looked for a while. Just as Yan Hang turned his head back, Chu Yi also turned away to look ahead.

"Your hand," Cui Yi said, "the doctor instructed you on how to recover. Do as he said when you get back, don't slack off."

"Mm," Yan Hang smiled. "So naggy."

"Have to nag. Everyone knows losing hair is normal, otherwise I'm afraid your dad will come back one day and count your hairs. If you're missing even one, he'll take it out on me," Cui Yi said.

"My dad isn't that exaggerated," Yan Hang laughed.

"Of course he won't let you see that side of him," Cui Yi said.

Yan Hang laughed for a while, then let out a soft sigh.

"Let me, see your hand," Chu Yi said quietly by Yan Hang's ear.

Yan Hang extended his right hand over.

Chu Yi held his hand and carefully lifted the gauze to look inside.

He had seen the wound on Yan Hang's waist a few times when changing the dressing. Since it was a stab wound, the cut wasn't especially large. The surgical incision on his abdomen also wasn't big.

In comparison, the gash on his hand from grabbing the knife left a more visually shocking wound.

A cut spanning his entire palm.

Although it didn't injure the nerves and wouldn't affect hand function, such a large scar on the palm would take a long time to heal.

"It's fine," Yan Hang said.

Chu Yi didn't say anything.

"I can use both hands," Yan Hang said. "My left hand even has a hidden skill."

"My left, left hand's hidden skill is tickling," Chu Yi said.

Yan Hang and Cui Yi both laughed at that.

"Then I have one too. My left hand's hidden skill is hailing a taxi," Cui Yi said.

Chu Yi also laughed. It really was better to be discharged. He himself felt much more relaxed too. No matter how good hospital conditions were, seeing patients and injured people every day was quite depressing.

After returning home, Yan Hang put away the clothes he had brought in the closet. He took out a set of pajamas but hesitated standing in front of the closet.

Chu Yi could more or less guess what Yan Hang was thinking. He wanted to take a shower. For a very particular foreign dog, not bathing for ten days and just wiping with a towel was unbearable.

But taking a shower would require his help.

Yan Hang probably still remembered that curvy side profile of his that day and was engaged in an intense mental struggle.

Just thinking of that image made Chu Yi want to dig a hole in the ground and lie in it face down. But he still gritted his teeth and walked over, leaning on the bedroom doorframe.

"Want to shower?" he said. "I'll h-help you."

"Mm," Yan Hang turned to look at him and smiled. "I'm dying of discomfort."

What was the big deal about helping with a shower?

Chu Yi stood at the bathroom door, eyes averted, staring at a small crack on the doorframe beside him. In his peripheral vision, Yan Hang was taking off his clothes. He felt he had come a bit too eagerly. He should have waited for Yan Hang to finish undressing before coming over.

Standing here waiting for someone to undress was quite silly.

"Done," Yan Hang said.

"Mm," he responded and entered the bathroom with the large roll of waterproof film the doctor had given. "Stick this on."

This waterproof film looked similar to plastic wrap, but had adhesive. Sticking it on the skin could make it waterproof. Chu Yi tore off a section and held it up to Yan Hang's waist.

"Just stick it on randomly, are you trying to make it perfectly aligned?" Yan Hang laughed.

"Afraid of leaking." Chu Yi carefully applied a patch to his waist, pressing down all the edges, then stood in front of him and carefully applied another patch to the wound on his lower abdomen.

Yan Hang didn't take off his underwear. As Chu Yi was applying the patch, Yan Hang pulled down his underwear a little to avoid sticking it to his pants.

Chu Yi bit his lip.

But today he was quite calm, perhaps because he had embarrassed himself so badly before that just thinking about it made him feel a bit down, so he managed not to make any more blunders in front of Yan Hang.

Yan Hang turned to face the wall, raising his injured hand to lean against it as he twisted the faucet and held the shower head, lowering his head to test the water temperature.

Not facing Yan Hang directly made him much more relaxed, but Yan Hang's pose was so cool that he still didn't dare to stare.

He somewhat hated his own state, but there was nothing he could do about it.

"Go back to school tomorrow and show your face," Yan Hang said. "Even though it's the weekend, let people know you didn't give yourself another long vacation and that your foot is indeed injured."

"Mm," Chu Yi poured some water on his back. "Is this comfortable?"

"A very pleasant temperature." Yan Hang said.

Chu Yi smiled and scrubbed his back with a towel.

"Is there any dirt?" Yan Hang immediately asked.

"No," Chu Yi used a bit more force. "Really no dirt, you can rest assured."

"I feel like they smeared a lot of weird things on me, glue, this medicine and that disinfectant," Yan Hang sighed. "I can barely stand it anymore."

"Take a nap later," Chu Yi said. "Your complexion is quite scary."

"Is that so," Yan Hang said. "I'm actually really sleepy, just couldn't fall asleep at the hospital."

"I'll sing you a lullaby," Chu Yi said. "Sleep for a while."

"Chu Yi," Yan Hang turned his head and said with a smile, "How can you say with a straight face that you're going to sing someone a song?"

"What's wrong with that," Chu Yi applied some body wash to his back. "I'm an upright person."

"Oh," Yan Hang laughed at the wall for a long time. "Ah, my sleepiness is gone."
