The anesthetic had completely worn off, and the wounds on his body began to throb with pain. Yan Hang was quite tolerant, and this kind of pain was not too severe for him, but it was hard to endure for a long time.
He kept trying to make himself fall asleep, adjusting his breathing, making it light and slow, following a rhythm, but he could only get slightly drowsy and couldn't really fall asleep.
The needle had been stuck in the back of his left hand, which was a bit torturous for him who had almost never been on an IV drip.
From the back of his hand to his forearm, it was all swollen and cold, and it would twitch slightly uncontrollably.
At first, he found it quite interesting. When Chu Yi was lying by the bed, his hand would twitch, and Chu Yi would reach out and lightly tap his fingertips. It would move again, and he would tap again. He felt like he was fishing.
Jiggling the bait, the little silly fish would come to touch it and then swim away.
It wasn't until the fish took the bait that he realized something was wrong, but he didn't dare move.
After Chu Yi tiptoed out of the ward and closed the door, he let out a soft sigh and turned his head back that had been tilted the whole time. His neck was sore.
That last touch on his fingertips wasn't Chu Yi's finger, it should have been... his lips.
Although it was just a light touch, the different sensation was quite obvious.
Yan Hang glanced towards the ward door and closed his eyes again.
His father used to always say to be careful when fighting and not get too seriously injured, otherwise a single general anesthesia would cause a 50% loss in intelligence.
Every time he heard it, he found it very funny, but after experiencing it this time, he felt that his father, who had always been talking nonsense, might be telling the truth this time.
The anesthesia had passed, but he felt like his brain was mixed with paste, and it was exhausting to think about anything.
Intelligence reduced by half?
It doesn't really matter. Before, his IQ was 300, now cut in half it's 150, still a genius.
Yan Hang smiled.
He couldn't remember many details from yesterday, and he was reluctant to think too much. After all, it was the first time in his life that he ended up in the hospital after facing someone with abilities so far below his own.
The only thing he remembered clearly was that at the moment of impact, he could immediately react and feel that the person behind him had raised his right hand, and fortunately, he was holding the phone in his left hand. As the pain stabbed into his waist, his right hand hanging by his side could grab the blade that hadn't fully penetrated his body.
He couldn't remember what happened after that. If his waist hadn't been stabbed, he wouldn't have even noticed. Almost every movement of the body required the use of waist strength. He didn't fight hard and chose to protect himself.
But... what he had never quite figured out was that after the initial stab, the person's subsequent movements didn't have much lethality. Either this person was too inexperienced, or he didn't intend to strike too heavily.
Why not strike heavily?
Why would an inexperienced person take the risk to attack him? If it weren't for that phone call, this person wouldn't have been able to injure him at all.
That phone call.
The thing he remembered most clearly these past two days was probably Chu Yi's phone call.
To be precise, it was Chu Yi's words "I like you" in the call.
Although he had thought about it before, in his eyes, Chu Yi had always been a confused little kid. Even though he was nearly 1.8 meters tall now, even though he had earned the nickname "Brother Dog" at school, he was still a silly kid.
He never expected Chu Yi to say such a sentence so suddenly and so bluntly.
And he still hadn't figured out how to respond.
If it were anyone else, he would just say thank you and be done with it.
But not Chu Yi.
Chu Yi was different from anyone else, sensitive and self-abasing, cautious and timid.
A "thank you" the same as to others might be a blow to Chu Yi.
I like you.
Yan Hang changed the position of his left hand and placed it on his stomach. The swelling was really unbearable.
Chu Yi liked him, it was very obvious. He had always known that Chu Yi liked him, just as he also liked Chu Yi very much. He found Chu Yi very amusing, very cute, and his heart ached when Chu Yi was wronged.
But Chu Yi was a silly dog, which was also very obvious.
He couldn't be sure if Chu Yi could distinguish between different kinds of "like".
Chu Yi basically had no normal emotional interactions with anyone, no familial love, no friendship, no any kind of affection...
At this time, Zhou Chunyang said he was gay and liked men.
Not two days later, Chu Yi came and said "I like you".
Was this psychological suggestion or did he really know?
It seemed that Zhou Chunyang really needed to be dragged out and beaten up...
I like you.
Yan Hang tilted his head. Lying down for too long, just like a whole sleepless night, he felt sore all over no matter what posture he was in. Now after a day and a night in this posture, he was going crazy.
So much so that he couldn't judge what kind of liking he had for Chu Yi now.
He had never liked anyone. He would find this girl pretty, that guy handsome, but beyond that, he basically wouldn't have any other thoughts.
...But before figuring out what was going on with Chu Yi, it didn't matter how he himself felt.
The sound of Chu Yi's cell phone came from outside the door.
This kid went out and just stood at the door, almost never leaving.
Yan Hang was a bit worried about his physical condition. Although he was a "Brother Dog" who had practiced boxing for a year, after all, he had been up for two days and nights with a fever...
The door was pushed open, and Yan Hang kept his eyes closed and continued to pretend to sleep.
He could hear Chu Yi walking very carefully to the bedside: "Still sleeping... Mm, got it..."
Yan Hang opened his eyes a slit and grunted.
"Did I wake you up?" Chu Yi hung up the phone and asked softly, looking at him.
"No," Yan Hang said, "I just woke up."
"Oh," Chu Yi smiled, "Uncle Cui said, he requested leave for you, and told me to go buy a cell phone."
"Are you paying?" Yan Hang yawned.
"...If I pay," Chu Yi said, "it's fine too. Are you, used to using an old people's phone?"
"Get lost." Yan Hang said.
"Uncle Cui, said you have money in your card." Chu Yi opened the drawer of the bedside table and took out his wallet.
"That heartless old Cui," Yan Hang clicked his tongue, "for my birthday he only gave me a box of crayons and even took six of them for himself. Now that I'm disabled, he can't even bear to give me a cell phone."
"You're not disabled, how are you persevering," Chu Yi took out his card, "the person, who had surgery with you yesterday, he went in howling, and now he's, strolling down the corridor."
"I'll show you how I persevere," Yan Hang laughed, "I want to lie on my side for a bit, help me turn over."
"Okay." Chu Yi walked to the bedside and put his hand under Yan Hang's back, "Don't use any force."
Yan Hang didn't use any force as Chu Yi slowly pushed him onto his side.
"You're pretty strong." Yan Hang said.
"Average strength," Chu Yi said, "I can rotate you 360, degrees, no problem."
"Shut up." Yan Hang laughed a couple times.
"360 degrees." Chu Yi corrected again.
"Go buy a cell phone," Yan Hang said, "and get something to eat while you're at it."
"The caregiver is about to arrive," Chu Yi helped tuck in his blanket, "I'll go after he gets here."
"Oh." Yan Hang lifted the blanket and reached in to try to adjust his clothes. The hospital gown had no elasticity and was loose and baggy. Just turning over twisted everything up, nothing felt comfortable anywhere.
"Don't move." Chu Yi grabbed his wrist and carefully put it back on the bed.
"I have to at least pull my clothes and scratch an itch," Yan Hang said, "It's not that serious, it's not like my hand is broken."
"Are you... pulling your clothes or scratching an itch?" Chu Yi asked.
"Right now I'm pulling my clothes, in a bit I might need to scratch an itch," Yan Hang said, "I haven't scratched an itch since yesterday."
Chu Yi stood behind him, unable to see his expression. After a while, he felt Yan Hang lift the blanket.
He adjusted the clothes very carefully. Yan Hang felt Chu Yi was more nervous than him, the injured one. Although he didn't want to say it, as soon as the clothes were adjusted, it felt comfortable and his back immediately got itchy. He couldn't wait a second.
He had no choice but to say again: "My back is itchy, give it a good scratch while you're at it, the really hard kind."
"Oh." Chu Yi responded and reached under the gown to give two quick scratches, "Hard enough?"
"...Very hard," Yan Hang could feel his back was a bit raw, probably from lying on his back for so long and then getting scratched like this, "Give me two more not quite as hard ones."
Chu Yi lightly scratched twice more: "That wasn't... too hard, was it?"
"No," Yan Hang smiled, "Feels good now."
Chu Yi got a chair and sat by the bed. He took out his phone and glanced at it, sighing: "Out of battery."
"Go back for the night," Yan Hang said, "I don't want to wear a hospital gown. Go get me some of my clothes and bring your charger too."
Chu Yi looked at him without speaking.
"Go get some more sleep." Yan Hang said.
"Didn't you say you wanted me to wait on you." Chu Yi seemed a bit unhappy.
"The caregiver will sleep here at night, are you going to squeeze in with the caregiver?" Yan Hang said.
"Then forget, the caregiver," Chu Yi said, "It'll save some money too."
Yan Hang looked at him without speaking.
Chu Yi also stared at him. After about three minutes, he finally spoke: "Fine, I'll come, first thing in the morning then."
"Good boy," Yan Hang moved his left hand, "Come here and let Brother Xiao Tian pet your head."
Chu Yi lowered his head to Yan Hang's hand and let him ruffle his hair.
