A Lucky Coin

Chapter 51 - Chapter 51

Yan Hang's hands were quite thin, but when he gripped so tightly like this, one could feel the strength in his fingers.

Chu Yi couldn't judge his own mood and feelings at this moment, only knowing that he should have the same question now.

"What is it?" Yan Hang asked.

Yes, what was it?

Chu Yi lowered his eyes to look at Yan Hang's hand. To ease the atmosphere, he didn't let go, still holding Yan Hang's hand and giving it a squeeze.

Then he said: "Rob, robbing you."

"Good fellow, spare my life," Yan Hang said. "My wallet is in my pocket."

Chu Yi let go, took Yan Hang's wallet out of his pocket, and opened it to take a look.

Yan Hang's wallet was very simple and neat like his room. Besides a few hundred yuan and two cards, there was nothing else inside.

"With so few t-things," Chu Yi said, "you still need a, wallet?"

"...What else do you think should be put in there?" Yan Hang started the car. "You even use a beverage bottle to drink water."

"Who said that?" Chu Yi took out the cup Yan Hang bought for him from his bag and waved it in front of him. "See, over a, a hundred yuan."

"Really?" Yan Hang laughed.

"Can you, afford it?" Chu Yi said.

"Can't afford it." Yan Hang said.

"Drive the, car well for a, while and I'll reward you with a, touch." Chu Yi put the cup back in his bag.

"Thank you." Yan Hang nodded.

Chu Yi rested his head against the car window glass and looked outside.

Besides his dad's car, he had only ridden in his aunt's car, but very rarely. He didn't have any special feelings about the front passenger seat position.

Today for the first time, he felt that even in such a big SUV, the distance between the driver's seat and the passenger seat was still very close.

Leaning against the car window, his left arm could still feel Yan Hang's body heat.

...Did it seem a bit exaggerated?

He turned his head to take a look, making sure this was an illusion. They were both wearing coats, and the distance in between was enough to fit another person.

When Yan Hang turned his head towards him, he suddenly felt a little embarrassed, quickly lowering his eyelids and pretending to look at his own hands.

Yan Hang continued looking forward. Not long after, Yan Hang glanced over here again. Although the angle wasn't large, he still felt it.

When getting ready to turn out of the parking lot, Yan Hang looked over here for the third time.

"What is it?" He couldn't help but touch his own face and asked.

"Huh?" Yan Hang was stunned for a moment.

"Is there something on my, face..." Chu Yi touched his head again, "or head..."

"I'm looking at the rearview mirror." Yan Hang said.

"Oh." Chu Yi abruptly turned sideways, sticking his face to the glass to ease the awkwardness.

At this time, the car passed over a speed bump, and the car body jolted. His nose very accurately smashed into the glass.

"Ah." He frowned and let out a small cry, covering his sore nose with his hand.

Yan Hang stopped the car, turned around and put his arm on the seat back to look at him: "Chu Yi."

"Mm." Chu Yi covered his nose and responded.

"Are you okay?" Yan Hang asked. "How come you seem a bit dazed?"

"Sleepy." Chu Yi said softly.

"Then sleep for a bit." Yan Hang pushed down on the seat back next to him, pressing the backrest down with his hand.

Chu Yi leaned back and closed his eyes.

This was quite good. With his eyes closed, he couldn't see Yan Hang, so he wasn't so at a loss.

A gust of warm air blew over his face as Yan Hang took off his coat and covered it over him.

He felt it with his hand with his eyes closed, then put his hands into the coat pockets, with the wallet in one pocket and keys in the other. He grasped both with his hands.

Since he was young, he often heard his dad talk about various accidents while driving. Theoretically, he would be worried about drivers like Yan Hang who could drive but didn't usually touch a car. He was often worried even when his aunt drove.

But at this moment, he felt especially at ease.

Yan Hang looked very handsome while driving, his movements appeared steady, and his whole person was very relaxed, not at all showing that he didn't usually drive.

At first, Chu Yi would occasionally open his eyes a slit to look at Yan Hang. After getting on the highway for a few minutes, he fell asleep.

Chu Yi slept the whole way. When getting off the highway at the toll station, Yan Hang glanced at him, sleeping sideways with his mouth half open.

Yan Hang reached out and lightly pushed his chin up. Chu Yi let out a dazed hum: "Ah?"

"There's still a while to go," Yan Hang smiled. "Did I wake you?"

"No." Chu Yi didn't even open his eyes and continued sleeping.

Yan Hang didn't speak to him again.

Chu Yi had been a bit strange these past two days. He had a bit of a feeling even before going home, and now this feeling was even more obvious, but he couldn't find the reason for a while.

Yan Hang couldn't quite imagine how much pressure that home of Chu Yi's put on him, but just thinking of that caterpillar-browed old lady made him want to frown.

For a child to grow up like Chu Yi in this kind of family was a miracle.

But Chu Yi's mood definitely wasn't just from going home for a visit.

While waiting for the red light, Yan Hang looked at him a couple more times. If one were to say Chu Yi couldn't hide his emotions, that wasn't very likely. Before when he was bullied, no matter his expression or eyes, one couldn't find any of his emotions. He could be calm to the point of being incomprehensible.

But if truly saying he could hide his emotions... he really didn't hide his emotions well this time.

Yan Hang felt that some of his guesses didn't have much basis, but when Chu Yi said "I miss you so much" with a tremble, he had this kind of guess.

It was just that thinking of Chu Yi's nervous reaction earlier when he asked if Chu Yi was confessing on behalf of Zhou Chunyang made him feel it wasn't very likely.

He always felt that he was quite accurate in reading people, but he couldn't quite figure out Chu Yi.

After all, he had always maintained various distances, near or far, observing the people around him with the perspective of an outsider.

But Chu Yi wasn't "those people".

Chu Yi was a part of his life. Many times he would feel that Chu Yi was like a little dog. Feed it a bit of food and it would whimper wanting to stick close to him, lick his hand, rub its head, enjoying an intimate relationship that he perhaps hadn't experienced in over a decade.

He himself had quite a bit of feelings about this point.

Chu Yi was the person he was closest to besides his dad. He was the first person that made him feel such a strong sense of "reluctance to part" when leaving. Although it wasn't like Chu Yi, who felt like they were reuniting after ten years just from being apart for a day, he really did enjoy being with Chu Yi.

Rubbing his head and scratching his chin... The car in front stopped, and Yan Hang quickly stepped on the brake.

Chu Yi sat up with a start, "What happened!"

"There's a bit of a traffic jam," Yan Hang said.

"Were you, were you, distracted?" Chu Yi looked at him.

"Oh," Yan Hang laughed, "How did you come to that conclusion?"

"Do you need, need to brake so, so hard for a, traffic jam?" Chu Yi adjusted the seat back upright, "I told you to brake, and you nearly made, made me slip, slip out."

"I was distracted," Yan Hang nodded.

"Focus," Chu Yi looked at him very seriously, "After all, you're not, not used to driving."

"Okay," Yan Hang started laughing.

"Seriously," Chu Yi pointed ahead, "It's moving."

"Not going to sleep anymore?" Yan Hang followed the car in front.

"How, can I sleep now," Chu Yi rubbed his eyes, "I'll n-navigate for you."

"There's a car, car, car, car," Yan Hang said with a smile, "Before you finish talking, bam, we'll crash."

"Do you enjoy bully, bullying me b-because it's very, fulfilling?" Chu Yi said.

"Yes," Yan Hang reached out and ruffled his hair a couple of times, "It's especially fun."

"Put your hands on the steer, steering wheel!" Chu Yi said.

"Alright!" Yan Hang gripped the steering wheel.

When they arrived at the hotel, it was just about dinner time at the restaurant. While still parking in the parking lot, Yan Hang's phone rang.

"Quick, I'll take you to the break room," Yan Hang said while grabbing his phone, "I need to get busy."

"Don't worry about, about me," Chu Yi quickly waved his hand, "I'll sleep in the, the, the car."

"Huh?" Yan Hang was stunned for a moment.

"Yeah." Chu Yi nodded.

"...Okay then," Yan Hang handed him the car key, "You sleep, crack the car window open a bit."

"I know." Chu Yi smiled.

Yan Hang closed the car door, answering the phone as he ran into the hotel's back entrance.

Chu Yi held the remote control and sat in the car in a daze for a good while. Although his dad drove for a long time, he basically never rode in a car, let alone knew how to control it.

Logically speaking, he should insert the car key, turn on the ignition, and then open the window a bit.

But after inserting the car key, he hesitated and didn't dare to turn it, afraid that the car would whoosh and speed out. Cui Yi's car looked very expensive at a glance, and if it really whooshed out, he wouldn't be able to afford the compensation.

In the end, he cracked the car door open a bit.

Just as he was about to lie down and sleep for a bit, the car started making noise, beeping.

He had no choice but to sit up again and close the car door.

He had just thought that he should just sleep like this and probably wouldn't die when someone knocked on the car window a couple of times.

It was the hotel security guard.

He opened the car door very awkwardly.

"Sir, do you need any help?" the security guard asked.

"I'm wait, waiting for someone," Chu Yi said, "Yan, Yan Hang."

"Oh, waiting for Little Yan." The security guard nodded.

"Can you open the, window?" Chu Yi asked.

After the security guard helped him crack the car window open and walked away with a smile, Chu Yi lay down on the seat and sighed.

He embarrassed Little Yan.

Little Yan's friend doesn't even know how to open the car window.

Little Yan didn't take his coat.

Chu Yi took the coat and covered himself with it, closing his eyes.

The coat had Little Yan's scent, or more precisely, a very faint fragrance.

Little Yan was a very vain and particular person.

Chu Yi smiled. For some reason, when he heard other people call Yan Hang Little Yan, he would feel a sense of satisfaction.

"I just got out of the elevator," Yan Hang said while holding the phone and walking towards the parking lot, "Is it urgent? If not, I'll sign it tomorrow."

"It's not urgent," Zhang Chen said, "Where are you rushing off to in such a hurry?"

"Celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival," Yan Hang said.

"Supervisor Yan," Zhang Chen was stunned for a moment, "Mid-Autumn Festival was yesterday."

"My Mid-Autumn Festival is today," Yan Hang smiled, "I'm hanging up."

He left earlier than usual today. There were still quite a few customers in the restaurant at this time. Although there was nothing particularly important, normally in this situation, he definitely wouldn't leave and would definitely wait until all the customers had left before leaving.

But if he did that today, the time Chu Yi would be waiting in the car would be a bit too long.

Yan Hang walked to the side of the car and looked inside through the half-open car window. Chu Yi was sleeping quite soundly, covered by his coat.

From the looks of it, he probably didn't get much sleep during the past two days at home.

Yan Hang knocked on the car window, "Chu Yi."

Chu Yi opened his eyes and sat up while yawning, "Little Yan."

"...Hey," Yan Hang responded.

Chu Yi took the remote control and pressed it. He opened the car door and leaned in to look at Chu Yi's face, "Your face is all creased from sleeping."

"I fell completely a-asleep," Chu Yi rubbed his face, feeling a bit embarrassed.

Yan Hang took a can of wet wipes from the glove compartment and put it on Chu Yi's lap, "Wipe your face and wake yourself up a bit."

When he went around to the other side to get in the car, Chu Yi had pulled out the wet wipes and was holding them in his hand, looking at them.

"What's wrong?" Yan Hang started the car.

"So high-end, ah," Chu Yi said, "Pulled out like toi, toilet paper?"

"Is being like toilet paper very high-end?" Yan Hang sighed, "Do you want some? I have them too, bought from a ten-yuan store."

"I want some." Chu Yi pulled out another sheet and wiped his face with it.

"Such a kid," Yan Hang chuckled.

"You're the most m-mature," Chu Yi thought for a moment and turned his head, "Little Yan."

"What?" Yan Hang responded.

"You call, call me," Chu Yi said.

"Little Chu," Yan Hang said.

Chu Yi burst out laughing, "That sounds really bad, not as good as Little, Little Yan."

"Little Dog," Yan Hang said.

"Hey," Chu Yi responded.

"Wag your tail," Yan Hang said.

Chu Yi turned sideways while pulling the seat belt and put his hand behind his back, waving it at him.

Yan Hang laughed and slapped his hand, "You're really quite cute."

When the car arrived at the entrance of the neighborhood, Cui Yi was already standing by the roadside with a bunch of things in his hands. Yan Hang lowered the car window and looked at him, "You drive or I drive?"

"You drive," Cui Yi opened the back door and got in the car, "Let you have some fun."

"Hello, Uncle Cui." Chu Yi turned around and greeted him.

"Hello, little one," Cui Yi said and looked at him again, "Seems like you're not so little anymore? Feels like you've grown a bit since I last saw you."

"Really?" Yan Hang turned his head to look at Chu Yi.

Chu Yi also looked at him.

It was already dark at this time, with only the light from the front illuminating half of Chu Yi's face. The golden color of his hair tips and the outline traced by the light and shadow made him look like he was no longer a puppy.

More like a... medium-sized dog now.

Chu Yi was a bit excited. They had originally planned to have dinner first and then go to the beach to see the moon, but Cui Yi felt it would be more suitable to go directly to the beach. With a tent, they could eat there until late into the night.

This suggestion made Chu Yi very happy.

With a tent, they could start enjoying the moon early.

As the car drove towards the beach, he kept his head by the window, staring outside, somewhat impatient.

He had thought that since the Mid-Autumn Festival had passed, there might not be many people at the beach. But when they parked the car, Chu Yi still saw more than a dozen cars already parked there.

"There's quite a few people." Yan Hang got out of the car.

"Also, is there space to set up the tent?" Chu Yi jumped out of the car after him.

"It's such a big beach," Cui Yi opened the car door and handed down a large bag of food, "If you have time, you could even build a platform to put the tent on."

Chu Yi looked up at the sky.

The moon was very big.

Perfectly round.

Felt like he could reach out and pat its head.

The beach was very close to the roadside. After walking not far, they stepped onto the sand.

In the moonlight, many people could be seen, as well as tents already set up. Chu Yi was a bit anxious and walked at the very front carrying the things.

"Don't go further," Yan Hang said, "It's windy, just over there is fine."

Chu Yi looked and saw an old fishing boat parked on the side. It was quite big, with a small tent at the stern and a fairly wide space at the bow.

He didn't know how to set up a tent and could only watch Cui Yi and Yan Hang busy at work beside him.

After the tent was set up, Yan Hang lifted the flap: "Want to go in and lie down for a bit? You look like you're about to die of impatience."

Chu Yi didn't say anything. He felt like an arrow, swooshing in with one movement and lying down on the mat.

The mat was a moisture-proof one, quite thin. When lying on it, he could feel the undulating sand underneath.

"How does it feel?" Yan Hang also crawled in, propping himself up beside him and looking around.

"Awesome," Chu Yi turned his head, resting it on a small mound of sand that bulged up, "A little nest."

"What little nest?" Yan Hang looked down at him.

"Just... a little nest shelter," Chu Yi smiled, "Especially warm and cozy."

Yan Hang also liked this feeling, a particularly small space where you could touch the walls and feel the enclosure, making you feel safe.

He probably felt this way because he was often alone at home, which felt a bit empty. As for Chu Yi, it was probably because there were too many people in his dorm and he didn't have a place of his own.

Yan Hang reached out and stroked his face: "I'll buy you a tent and you can take it to the dorm, set it up on your bed."

Chu Yi narrowed his eyes. The moment Yan Hang's hand brushed across his face, he suddenly had an indescribable feeling of comfort.

Maybe it was because it was quite warm in the tent, maybe it was because he really liked this small space, or maybe... he suddenly really wanted to turn his head and kiss Yan Hang's hand.

This thought made him even more flustered than when he realized he missed Yan Hang very much.

After a second of daze, he was struck by a sense of panic, his heart pounding so hard he almost couldn't catch his breath.

What on earth was happening!

"No, no need," he suddenly gave Yan Hang's arm a push, "How silly."

"...Oh." Yan Hang was stunned for a moment.

"Shall I lay out a mat here?" Cui Yi asked from outside the tent, "Or eat directly inside?"

"Let's eat outside," Yan Hang backed out of the tent, "Aren't we supposed to watch the moon too."

"Yeah," Cui Yi rummaged through the things they brought over, "There's also a small alcohol stove that we didn't bring over?"

"Where did you put it," Yan Hang asked, "I'll go get it."

"In the trunk." Cui Yi said.

Yan Hang got up and walked over to where the car was parked.

After reaching the car, he lit a cigarette and leaned against the car door.

Being suddenly pushed away by Chu Yi just now made him feel a bit awkward.

He didn't know if it was because Chu Yi was no longer a child and could no longer accept his way of petting him like a puppy or playing with a kid, or if it was for some other reason.

In any case, being rejected out of the blue like this made him feel a bit awkward.

He held the lighter, flicking it open and closed, then open and closed again.

Little rascal, if it were last year, Chu Yi definitely wouldn't dare to have such an arrogant move.

Now he was really acting like a big shot, all high and mighty.

Very cool indeed.

Tsk tsk.

Footsteps sounded from behind the car, accompanied by the crunching of sand.

Yan Hang quickly put his hand in his pocket and gripped the car key, wedging the small iron truncheon attached to it between his fingers.

"Yan Hang?" Chu Yi's voice came over.

"Over here," Yan Hang responded, seeing Chu Yi come around from behind the car. Only then did he let go of the key in his pocket, "Why did you come over?"

Chu Yi didn't say anything, just stood there beside him.

"Is it awkward being with Uncle Cui?" Yan Hang asked.

"No," Chu Yi said, "He's really nice."

"Then what is it?" Yan Hang glanced over, only able to see Cui Yi's blurry figure, not knowing what he was busy with.

"To help you carry the stove." Chu Yi said.

"An alcohol stove needs your help to carry?" Yan Hang laughed, "You think it's a coal stove?"

Chu Yi didn't say anything, nor did he laugh along. He just lowered his eyelids like that.

"Then you help me carry it, it's so heavy," Yan Hang opened the trunk, "For handsome guys like me with no strength to even tie up a dog..."

"If," Chu Yi turned his head to look at him, "Zhou Chunyang..."

Zhou Chunyang again?

Yan Hang, leaning on the trunk door, was simply exasperated.

He felt like he should find a time to call out Zhou Chunyang and beat him up.

"What about Zhou Chunyang now?" Yan Hang sighed.

"If he tells you that he likes you," Chu Yi bit her lip, frowning, "how would you respond to him?"

Yan Hang was stunned for a moment.

He suddenly realized that Chu Yi's strange mood had started after Zhou Chunyang told him about this matter, to be precise.

"Didn't I already say," he took out the alcohol stove and handed it to Chu Yi, "I don't dislike it, nor do I feel disgusted."

"It's not that... it's, it's," Chu Yi took the alcohol stove, speaking with great difficulty, "if he asks you face-to-face, how would you answer?"

Yan Hang stared at Chu Yi, trying to determine the real answer he wanted behind this question.

He and Chu Yi had never discussed such an awkward topic. More important than the answer to this question was why Chu Yi would ask it in the first place.

Chu Yi wanted to know how he would respond to a confession from a boy.

Chu Yi had very brusquely pushed his hand away when he touched his face.

"You're not homophobic, are you?" Yan Hang looked at him.

"Huh?" Chu Yi looked at him in confusion, "What is homophobic?"

"It means really hating homosexuals, really wanting to keep a distance from them?" Yan Hang said.

"No, no, I'm not." Chu Yi said.

"Oh," Yan Hang closed the trunk, thought for a bit, and said, "If he came to tell me he likes me, I'd probably say thank you."

Chu Yi looked at him for a good while before asking, "That's it?"

"That's it," Yan Hang said, "What else can I say? Everything is in those two words, 'thank you'. Even an idiot would understand... Come on, let's go eat the moon."
