Chapter 39 - Chapter 39

As expected of Mutt, the auto repair boss Mutt Chu Yi, who can do 70 push-ups without collapsing on the spot, the 1v6 auto repair boss Mutt Chu Yi.

Looking at his own hand, Yan Hang felt that if it went on for another minute, his hand would be crushed by Chu Yi.

He had never noticed before that Chu Yi had such a strong grip.

"Brother Dog," Yan Hang looked at him, "Let's talk about something."

"Go ahead." Chu Yi gripped his hand tightly.

Yan Hang felt there was something especially likable about Chu Yi, which was his reflexive way of speaking. No matter if he was nervous or uncomfortable, he could always respond with god-like speed at the first instant.

"Can you grip a bit lighter?" Yan Hang said, "The bones in my hand are quite thin, they'll definitely break if you use more force, really."

"...Ah!" Chu Yi let go of his hand as if suddenly waking up from sleep.

"It'll definitely bruise tomorrow." Yan Hang shook his hand.

"Delicate, flower ah." Chu Yi said.

"Want me to try gripping you and see?" Yan Hang clicked his tongue, "To see if you're very sturdy."

At this moment, Chu Yi suddenly felt very upset inside. Yan Hang thought he had dreamed of what happened a year ago, and immediately comforted him while carefully and quickly changing the subject.

Obviously Yan Hang was having a much harder time than him. After all, back then it could be confirmed that Uncle Yan was seriously injured, and the father and son had a very deep bond.

After the incident, Yan Hang, who couldn't recover for such a long time, was now comforting him.

He felt extremely upset and distressed.

He still clearly remembered Yan Hang's hoarse voice and exhausted, degenerate state at that time.

"That..." He wanted to say something, but didn't know what to say for a while. He just wanted to quickly give Yan Hang a response to let him know he was okay. He pinched Yan Hang's wrist and said, "That day I tried to pinch someone's hand, but couldn't do it."

"Failed at acting cool?" Yan Hang asked with a smile.

"Yeah," Chu Yi nodded, "You also didn't succeed before, right?"

"Who said that," Yan Hang took a coin and placed it in his hand, "Hold it tight."

Chu Yi gripped the coin tightly in his hand.

Yan Hang reached out his hand, first gripping his forearm, then slid his fingers down all the way to the wrist. Before Chu Yi could come back to his senses from the comfortable massage-like feeling, Yan Hang's fingers suddenly slipped and pinched on his wrist.

He instantly felt a numbness in his wrist. Although he still wanted to resist, his fingers had already started to go soft and then betrayed him.

He watched helplessly as Yan Hang easily pried open his fingers one by one, then pinched his wrist and turned it downwards, causing the coin to fall to the ground.

"How about it Brother Dog," Yan Hang let go of his hand and picked up the coin, placing it back in his hand, "Convinced?"

"You practiced it?" Chu Yi was a bit surprised. He clearly remembered Uncle Yan saying that Yan Hang had never mastered this move, failing every time, and even when successful it purely relied on force.

"I've been in seclusion here for nearly a year," Yan Hang said, "My inner strength has greatly increased, and now this Misplacing Bone Pinch technique has reached perfection..."

Chu Yi couldn't help but laugh, "Teach me, this cute little move."

"Figure it out yourself," Yan Hang said, "Teaching disciples starves the master."

The two silently stared at the sea for a while. Yan Hang stood up and stretched, "Had enough of looking? Want to go over and lick it?"

"No need," Chu Yi smiled, "If you want to lick it, I'll accompany you."

"Shall I take you back?" Yan Hang reached back and ruffled his hair, "Do you need to get up early tomorrow? Is it time for class to start?"

"Day after tomorrow." Chu Yi said.

"You..." Yan Hang looked at him, "Want to go back to the dorm?"

Although hesitating for an instant, at most just a second later, Chu Yi quickly replied, "No."

"I'm just asking you unnecessarily." Yan Hang laughed.

"The dorm mates play games late into the night," Chu Yi sighed, "I don't understand, don't even know what they are playing, it's boring."

"Poor thing," Yan Hang looked at him, "Don't even know what games?"

"Yeah," Chu Yi said, "Something about playing together, I don't get it."

"Want me to teach you?" Yan Hang asked.

"I knew you definitely would," Chu Yi laughed, then thought for a bit and looked up at him, a bit worried, "Does it cost money?"

"It's okay if you don't pay..." Before Yan Hang could finish, he was interrupted by Chu Yi.

"Then forget it," Chu Yi was a bit depressed, "Stupid games still cost money."

"I'm saying it's okay if you don't pay," Yan Hang said.

"Games that can cost money definitely can't be played well if you don't pay." Although Chu Yi had only played Snake, he still had these concepts.

"So do you still want me to teach you or not?" Yan Hang asked.

"Yes." Chu Yi replied.

"Then why are you saying all this nonsense," Yan Hang glanced at his phone, "Let's go, I'll help you install the game first when we get back."

The feeling of going home together with Yan Hang made Chu Yi feel very comfortable every time, hard to say if it was a sense of security or happiness.

In an unfamiliar city, there was a place to go.

An important person, a destination.

No matter how much awkwardness Chu Yi had before, this journey still made him feel enjoyment.

The security guard had a good memory. This was only Chu Yi's second time coming, yet he could already recognize him.

"Your younger brother is here?" The security guard greeted Yan Hang with a smile.

"Yeah, here to play." Yan Hang smiled.

When they were about to reach downstairs, Chu Yi finally reacted, "Younger brother?"

"Yeah, younger brother," Yan Hang nodded, "That's what I told him."

"Why younger brother? Not friend?" Chu Yi asked, not knowing why, he seemed to want to hear the words "friend" more, as if it was some kind of obsession.

"Younger brother sounds closer," Yan Hang said, "Usually no matter how familiar, people will introduce someone as 'this is my friend', but if you say 'this is my younger brother', it feels different."

Chu Yi smiled happily, Yan Hang's answer suddenly made him feel warm inside.

When they reached downstairs, Chu Yi immediately spotted the little hedgehog, lying in the grass by the road, with a few pieces of broken apple in front of it as usual.

"The food is really good," Chu Yi squatted next to little hedgehog, "I haven't eaten fruits in a long time."

"I have grapes and tangerines," Yan Hang said, "A big basket of them, all yours."

"Great." Chu Yi said.

After going upstairs and entering the room, Chu Yi immediately saw a large basket on the coffee table, and it was indeed filled with grapes and tangerines.

"Buying so much, can you finish eating it all?" Chu Yi was stunned.

"Uncle Cui brought them," Yan Hang said, "He doesn't know who sent them to him, and he's almost getting diabetes from drinking juice every day, so he forcibly gave me a bunch."

"I'll go wash them," Chu Yi went to the kitchen to get a small fruit basket and put a few bunches of grapes in it, "Do you want some?"

"Sure," Yan Hang flopped down on the sofa, "Give me your phone, I'll help you install the game first."

Chu Yi unlocked his phone and handed it to him, then took the small fruit basket into the kitchen.

Halfway through washing, he heard his phone make a sound, the notification tone for WeChat.

He was a bit surprised. Although unlike Yan Hang who only had one friend on WeChat, even if he added friends to the maximum, under normal circumstances, besides Yan Hang, no one else would send him messages.

Maybe it was a classmate from the dorm.

"Yo!" Yan Hang shouted from the living room, "Yo yo."

"What's up," he responded, "Grapes and tangerines coming right up."

"Who's this girl?" Yan Hang walked to the kitchen doorway with his phone, waving it at him, "I saw the content."

"What girl?" Chu Yi was confused.

"Beike," Yan Hang read from the phone, "Handsome, have you finished military training?"

"Beike?" Chu Yi still didn't react.

"Your acting skills are not bad." Yan Hang laughed.

"Ah!" When Chu Yi reached back to take the phone to have a look, he remembered who Beike was, "I met her at the train station when I was picking up my ticket, she helped me get the ticket."

"You dog," Yan Hang sighed with some admiration, "I really admire you when it comes to picking up girls."

"I didn't! Pick her up!" Chu Yi sighed, "I can't do magic tricks."

"I can do magic tricks but I still can't pick up girls." Yan Hang started laughing.

"Then you should reflect on that." Chu Yi said.

"She's looking for you, hurry up and reply to her," Yan Hang held the phone, "I'll reply for you, you tell me what to say."

"Mm." Chu Yi responded.

Yan Hang didn't say anything. After a while, he spoke again: "Say it!"

"I already said it." Chu Yi glanced back at him.

Yan Hang was stunned for a moment, then gave him a thumbs up: "Awesome."

-Mm.

Yan Hang helped Chu Yi reply to Beike's message. Because Chu Yi's response was too simple, he was afraid the girl would feel awkward, so he took the liberty of adding a period.

-Do you have time this weekend?

Beike immediately sent another message.

"She's asking if you're free this weekend," Yan Hang called out to the kitchen, "Are you free this weekend, bro?"

"No." Chu Yi answered.

-I have something this weekend.

-Ah, so disappointing...

"I give up," Yan Hang put the phone on the coffee table, "I still have to translate Chinese to Chinese for you, it's too tiring, you reply yourself later."

Chu Yi brought out the washed fruits, pinched a grape, and ate it while looking at his phone: "Didn't I already say it's done?"

"...You think this is done?" Yan Hang looked at him.

"Ah." Chu Yi also looked at him.

"As expected of Dog bro," Yan Hang leaned back on the sofa, "You killed the conversation in three sentences."

"Then how should I reply?" Chu Yi sat down next to him and took the phone, looking down at it, "I've never chatted, with others."

"I don't know either," Yan Hang sighed, "I don't usually chat with people like this either."

"Let's reflect together," Chu Yi put the phone back on the coffee table, "Is the game installed?"

"It's installed, you go online first, Brother Xingtian is me," Yan Hang took a grape, "You go through the novice tutorial and get familiar with it first."

"Oh," Chu Yi stared at the screen. For someone who had only played Snake before, the interface of this game was so complex that he didn't know where to look, "I need to think of a name first."

Yan Hang chuckled: "Mm, what name will you use?"

"Mutt," Chu Yi said. The system prompted him that the name was already taken, "Someone snatched this name too?"

"Just add an underscore." Yan Hang said.

"No." Chu Yi felt the underscore was too hasty. What if he became awesome in the future and people called him Mutt underscore, how bad would that sound. He thought for a bit and re-entered a name.

Fierce Mutt.

This name was very good.

After that, he started his novice journey on his own. Yan Hang picked up a book and leaned on the other end of the sofa, flipping through it.

After fiddling for who knows how long, the system prompted that he could play ranked matches.

He was a bit confused. Just as he was about to ask Yan Hang, he saw that Yan Hang was very engrossed in reading, biting a pen up and down in his mouth, eyes fixed on the book.

When Yan Hang was in this state, he didn't dare to disturb him.

After staring for a few seconds, Yan Hang raised his eyes: "How's it going?"

"It says I can play ranked matches," Chu Yi said, "Will you play with me?"

"...I can't play with you now," Yan Hang smiled, "I'm in Diamond, I can't play with you."

"Is there a rank difference?" Chu Yi was stunned.

"Mm," Yan Hang nodded, "You..."

"Not playing anymore." Chu Yi very decisively quit the game.

What's the point of playing if he can't play together with Brother Xingtian even when they're sitting face to face.

If he had known earlier, he wouldn't have let Yan Hang install the game for him. He had thought Yan Hang could carry him, and he could also play with the people in the dorm.

He didn't expect that after all that fiddling, he still had to struggle on his own first. It was already dizzying and tormenting, and now his only support had fallen through.

Mutt was very unhappy.

"How about you play on my account?" Yan Hang asked.

"Not playing anymore." Chu Yi insisted on his decision, with Mutt and Mutt's stubbornness.

"Alright," Yan Hang started laughing, "Then do you want to watch TV or use the computer?"

"Watch TV." Chu Yi said.

Yan Hang tossed him the remote control.

For many people, playing on the computer should be more interesting, but Chu Yi basically never played since starting junior high. He's lucky to even have a phone, so now that he has a computer, he doesn't know what to do with it.

He's much more familiar with TV. Grandma and mom stare at the TV every night, able to watch whatever is on for an entire evening without changing the channel.

He randomly picked a channel, watching someone introduce delicacies from various places.

But he kept glancing over at Yan Hang from the corner of his eye.

After watching for a while, he heard a very low voice.

"Hm?" He turned his head.

"You watch your show," Yan Hang smiled. "I'm practicing."

Chu Yi scooted closer to him and continued watching TV, hearing that Yan Hang was quietly speaking English, probably trying to translate along with the show.

He didn't make another sound, quietly listening to Yan Hang's voice.

It felt extremely comfortable.

Yan Hang's low and slightly fragmented murmurs, when entering his ears, felt like someone lightly massaging his scalp, sending waves of tingling sensations crawling from behind his ears to his shoulders and back.

Before long, Chu Yi felt drowsy and slowly closed his eyes.

It wasn't until Yan Hang flicked his forehead that he startled awake and sat up straight. "Ah?"

"Go wash up and sleep," Yan Hang said. "Seems like you were about to start dreaming."

Chu Yi's heart jolted. He was now extremely sensitive to the word "dreaming". Hearing it made him feel awkward and very nervous.

"Did I, did I say anything in my sleep?" he asked.

"No," Yan Hang smiled. "You just grunted a couple times."

"What kind of grunts?" He quickly followed up.

"Who could tell," Yan Hang said. "Go find a pig and listen, it's about the same effect."

"Oh." Chu Yi rubbed his face.

After washing up, he changed into the clothes he had left here last time. Perhaps it was because the same detergent was used, but he could smell a familiar scent on his clothes.

He lay on the bed, looking at the night sky tinged with red outside the window.

"Why don't you just leave a few sets of clothes here," Yan Hang said as he entered the bedroom after washing up. "Makes it convenient to change."

"I only have a, a few sets of clothes total." Chu Yi said.

"Oh right, forgot you're a stingy miser," Yan Hang laughed and lay down beside him. "Turning off the lights, okay?"

"Mm." Chu Yi responded.

Yan Hang turned off the lights. As darkness spread all around, everything became quiet.

Chu Yi closed his eyes and heard Yan Hang's phone make a soft beep.

"You have a message." He reminded Yan Hang.

"It's an alarm." Yan Hang said.

"It's not even, morning, what are you setting an alarm for?" Chu Yi was a bit confused.

And what's the point of setting an alarm in the middle of the night?

"This is my sleep reminder sound," Yan Hang said. "It indicates the latest I should fall asleep by."

"Then can you fall, asleep now?" Chu Yi knew Yan Hang had occasional insomnia.

"Not necessarily, it's just a psychological cue." Yan Hang chuckled.

Chu Yi frowned. If Yan Hang had insomnia tonight, the culprit might be him, because of that "Uncle Yan" he had blurted out.

Listening to Yan Hang tossing and turning beside him, Chu Yi gritted his teeth, turned to face him, and lightly touched his arm. "Yan Hang."

"Hm?" Yan Hang responded softly.

"Do you dream?" He asked.

"...Are you an idiot?" Yan Hang laughed. "Who doesn't dream?"

"I mean, do you dream, dream of people?" Chu Yi asked quietly.

"Of course," Yan Hang said. "Crowds of people."

Chu Yi smiled, feeling a bit embarrassed as he rubbed his nose. "Have you, ever dreamed, dreamed of...me?"

Yan Hang didn't say anything. After a while, Chu Yi heard him chuckle. "What's up with you?"

"I didn't, didn't dream, of Uncle Yan," Chu Yi said. "I only dreamed, of you."

"Oh," Yan Hang turned to lie on his side facing him. "What did you dream of me doing?"

"Doing push, ups." Chu Yi recalled the dream again.

Yan Hang didn't speak. A few seconds later, he burst out laughing.

Laughing and patting Chu Yi a few times, he asked, "Doing push-ups? How many did I do?"

"Lost, count," Chu Yi said. "Never figured, it out."

Yan Hang was still laughing. Chu Yi could feel the mattress shaking from his laughter.

"Can, can you be more, serious." He said.

"How do you expect me to be serious about this topic," Yan Hang reached out and ruffled his hair. "You were embarrassed over just this dream before?"

"Ah," Chu Yi responded, not knowing what to say. "You were, shirtless."

Yan Hang suddenly laughed even harder. "Have you never seen me shirtless, so it was especially shocking?"

"Yeah." Chu Yi said.

Yan Hang's words suddenly made him relax.

Right, he just dreamed of Yan Hang doing push-ups shirtless. Maybe it was because he had never seen Yan Hang shirtless, so that's why he felt embarrassed and awkward.

Chu Yi let out a sigh of relief. The bewilderment and unease he had felt this past week were dispelled by Yan Hang's words.

He started laughing along with Yan Hang.

"Come," Yan Hang probably couldn't sleep. After laughing, he was even more energetic. He sat up and reached out to turn on the light. "Let me show you what a good physique looks like."

Before Chu Yi could react, he saw Yan Hang whip off his top with a flourish.

"See that," Yan Hang lifted his chin at him. "Brother Xingtian's abs."

Chu Yi gaped, his mind in a jumble, not knowing if he should command his eyes to look at the abs first or marvel at how someone like Yan Hang could have such childish behavior.

"I have them too," amidst the chaos, Chu Yi randomly picked a line. "Wanna see?"

Yan Hang tutted. "The little mutt has abs now?"

"Prepare to be, amazed." Chu Yi didn't know what came over himself either. He also sat up and took off his top, slapping his belly. "Maje-, majestic right?"

"Very majestic," Yan Hang reached over and also patted his belly. "Quite solid. Really not the little mutt from back then anymore. Can call you Dog Bro now without needing to make it up to you."

After they got dressed and lay back down on the bed, Chu Yi suddenly felt embarrassed. In the darkness, he stared with his eyes wide open, feeling like his face was so red it could pierce through the darkness.

He had accidentally been infected by Yan Hang into a fool, ruining Mutt's lifelong reputation...

"Hey, you've made me all energized," Yan Hang sighed, "Let's get to sleep quickly, I still have to deal with that annoying guy tomorrow."

"Good night," Chu Yi said.

"Good night," Yan Hang replied.

That whole night, Chu Yi didn't sleep very soundly. Although he didn't dream, he felt like he knew every time Yan Hang turned over.

But as for when Yan Hang had draped his arms and legs over him, he had no idea.

When he opened his eyes in the morning, he felt that Yan Hang had probably mistaken him for a body pillow.

He thought he should feel awkward, but surprisingly he didn't, only feeling very comfortable, just like the comfort he felt in the past when Yan Hang would grab his hair and flick his forehead.

He wanted to grab his phone to check the time, but he never dared to move. With Yan Hang's sleep quality, it probably wasn't easy for him to fall asleep, so he wanted to let Yan Hang wake up on his own.

It wasn't until he felt sweat starting to form on their skin pressed together that Yan Hang finally moved, turning over.

He grabbed his phone and took a glance, the time was still quite early.

"You're awake?" Yan Hang asked from beside him, "It's still early, my alarm hasn't gone off."

As soon as he finished speaking, Yan Hang's phone rang.

"It went off," Chu Yi said.

"It's not the alarm," Yan Hang said with a yawn as he grabbed his phone to look, "It's a call."

The phone didn't display a phone number, only the words "Private Number". After a moment of stunned silence, Yan Hang felt his heart rate suddenly speed up.

"Who is this?" His hand was shaking badly as he answered the call.

There was no sound from the other end.

"Hello?" Yan Hang glanced at the screen again, it was connected.

The other side remained completely silent, without even any background noise or static. Yan Hang furrowed his brow.

Then he quickly hung up the call.

"What's wrong?" Chu Yi sat up, looking at him.

"Nothing," Yan Hang said, "Probably a wrong number."

Before he answered the call, he had thought it might be his dad calling, but now he could be certain that the person on the other end was definitely not his dad.

Although his dad was always joking around, he definitely wouldn't make a joke about something like this at a time like this.
